After watching this video I am sure to get heater fired up on 1998 travel trailer. I spent 2 days trying to light it and failed. The information is spot on. Keep them coming!!!
Thank you Bill for the very detailed video and glad to see you are making videos again. We left FL in 2021 to Camp Host in CO, but come back to FL as dad needs help on his RV in winter, LOL. Cheers, Dave & Sheila
My SW6P had similar issues (has 15 years use) and after replacing the pilot assembly, still no light. Then after looking at the price on a replacement gas valve, I decided to just replace the whole tank for new, and bought a SW6D that has electronic ignition instead of a pilot burner. The pilot was getting harder and harder to light over the years till this summer. Thanks for your video on showing just how those parts come apart and go together.
I had a big smile when I saw you posted another video! Welcome back Bill! Bring us up to date. I take it the heart is doing well. And it appears the Casita is still being good to you. What ya towing with and are you still in FL?
Hey JW, My next video will be going over the new to me tow vehicle and my set up in general. I am in Bentonville, AR so I have escaped Florida and am now full time until I fall apart. Hahaha Take care, Bill
I've got one of these sw6p's. It's only a couple years old and works great but I've considered switching to a gas/electric primarily to save on gas by not having a pilot constantly running. I'd have to run atleast a 12v line for the spark which for my unit wouldn't be too complex. Think it's worth the switch for the pilotless gas savings?
This information is extremely helpful and so easy to follow, thank you a million times over I had been searching and reading all the manuals that came with our travel trailer to try and troubleshoot. I will definitely be trying these things out our pilot lights but the burner is not igniting. Owner before us never ran the water through it while he had it so I bet it is clogged with a spider web or just needs a replacement part. Do you have any recommendations on the dometic refrigerator not staying cool on propane and not cooling at all while on electric??
Clean the orifice for the propane, I have a video for that. If that works you probably have a bad 120v heater element. Does the flu get hot on 120v? Bill
Bill is good to see you glad you’re still on the green side missed your videos look forward to many more
Thanks for hanging in there. There is more to come!
Bill

Head to alaska in the dead of winter! Love to see how the wanderer handles the elements
I look for roughly 75 degrees in the day and 55 at night so Alaska in the winter is out of the question. Hahaha
Glad to see you back on the vlog Bill.
Thanks 👍
Great video showed me exactly what I needed to do. Thanks a bunch
Hello,
Excellent explanation and details Sir.
Thank you!
Thanks for making this video, it helped me a bunch!
Good to see a new video. Loved all your central fla campsite vids. My water heater is elec and engine water heated. GMC.
Glad you like them!
Bill
My water heater is 10 years old. Hope it lasts for another 10 along with the other large components (a/c, refrigerator, converter)
Hey Rick, The convert is an easy one, the fridge could be a real PITA.
Take care, Bill
Missing you

Welcome Back it's been a long time my Friend
Hi Bill, Yes it has. It is soooo nice to be back on the road. Bill
Does the water tank need to be empty when replacing the gas controller?

Bill, glad to see you on You Tube again. My Casita is also a 2000. Where did you locate the parts?
Hi Hardy Hobbs, Where else Amazon, The anode rods are about $12, the Pilot light assembly $17 and the controller $145. Take care, Bill
My pilot lite lites but the burner won’t start, would you have any suggestions?
Where do you get your pilot assembly I bought one but the bracket is backwards or upside down 🫤
Hi Bill, from your experience does it get corroded during winter months? If so, should I just replace it or just clean it up? Thank you for the video!
I never had a problem in the winter, I'd just clean it up. Bill
I NEED A BREAK TODAY, GOING INSANE.
Missed you
Thanks, I'm back! Bill
Please understand it’s NOT a HOT water heater. It’s a WATER HEATER. Doesn’t heat hot water.
Yes it does, when its lit it heats it up more when it drops to a certain point!
