I think the only really bad part was the cartoonishly depicted enemies wearing the “traditional” gear. Other than that, it’s just remote villages just like re4 and 8

People call it racist because of the early promo teaser where Chris was alone shooting Africans(mind you attacking Chris) lmao and so that’s why people assumed the game is racist. But it’s ironic because A) its actually part of the plot if you read the files on why Africa was a hot spot for bio weapons, and B) because they’ve done it worse for other regions

Thank you Anthony for voicing your opinions so well! RE5 could most definitely be remade and tweaked to become a better horror game rather than an action game. And Resident evil being referenced as "racist" is the most ridiculous shit ever. Resident evil was made by a Japanese company, Ada Wong is asian american, Jill Valentine had a japanese mother and a french father, Luis was Spanish, Carlos was indigenous southern american, Tyrell Patrick was african American, Josh Stone was African, Sheva Alomar was african, Parker Luciani was british/itallian, like holy shit I can go on and on. Resident evil is full of diversity. In my opinion the most controversial discussion of an RE5remake should be about whether or not we should keep Co-Op and if it is kept how they can perform it in a way that will complement the new style of game play the current REmakes have formed

It baffles me how this controversy was dug out of its grave 10 plus years after the fact when even the VA for Sheva said the game isn't racist and nobody should think it is. The game isn't even about Africa or its people, it's just the setting.
I still play mercenaries in RE5 till this day, the game is one of my all-time favorites. The racism part is foolishness. They were in Spain in 4, what's the issue.
And Asia in 6 :p. They should make an RE taking place in South America

I love Re5 and want to see it remade when I heard the wesker theme play at the end of separate ways in Re4 remake I got chills I was so excited. I would rather see code Veronica remade first but 5 deserves a remake just like the others.

As an old player who started with RE1 on Playstation, am i truly alone when im saying that RE5 does not need a remake? I always tried to imagine RE1 or Code Veronica on todays RE Engine and im thrilled only by thinking about it.
I had my fun with all parts of the series but thats how i think...

If and when they do remake RE5, I hope they add more lore to uroboros especially the uroboros mkono boss fight because he starts off in human form and goes straight into the transformation. One can hope that they make it that we fight in human form first and for phase 2 he transforms into uroboros mkono.

Actually my main complaint of the game back then was it wasn’t scary. At all. Completely went over my head that it was a action game. Resident evil before then had always been scary. Except 5 and 6

Re5 is over the top action (as a dmc fan I eat that stuff up lol) and it also has a whole bunch of interesting lore if you wanna go deeper into the story, I hope re5 does get remade respectfully, not changing the original to an unrecognizable, different thing. I agree save maybe more survival elements and horror? If it has the same style as 4 remake it would be perfect.
An RE5 remake could be incredibly exciting and intense. Incorporating stealth, more dynamic melee combat, and better coop, this could be a very fun game. Plus, the setting was cool!

RE5 is still to this day the best co-op experience in gaming. Get a friend to play the game with you and you'll have a blast.
Notice how when they started to go the direction of racism, they showed the trailer and the part where you are up against the more primitive enemies. But when you play in the village, there is ALSO some white infected sprinkled in there.
This game needs a remake to improve on the horror aspect.

As a side note: I personally did like RE Village a lot. I don't think it was a misstep. Imo RE3 Remake was the misstep, not that I think is bad, but it definitively threw out of the window a LOT of potential.
