This live performance is actually better than the studio recording, and that's a rare thing. This song touches everyone. We all need love and want someone to love us deeply. I loved your reaction. I could tell he got you in the feels.
Blue eyed soul....this is what it was called. Tom Jones also did a little of this. Bobby Hatfield and Bill Medley, the Righteous Brothers were the greatest, the best.
Love your reaction. I’m 66 years old. Love seeing young people react to music from my generation. It’s great music when it stands the test of time. Appreciate your insight into the music and you are spot on. Love your channel. I’m a fan ❤️
I know I must have hear this song a thousand times, and I STILL get goosebumps every time I hear it! He’s amazing! I think he was only 23 when he did this! 😍
This was a live performance on the Andy Williams show there was his God given voice and a small microphone. THIS was sheer perfection. Many fell in love to this song and with him ❤. THIS was in the movie Ghost. NO one before him or after him will ever do this song like Bobby Hatfield did He owns this song. Always will
Timeless love song.Wicked string and horn arrangement and the performance was effortless...killer tenor and oh yeah,no auto tune......here`s a mic,go do your thing
This song affected you just like it did me in 1965. I still get goosebumps and chills. I was in high school at that time. He melted my heart! RIP Bobby!❤
Loved your reaction. Absolutely right - not just a song,.. an enchanted performance that invades our hearts with its beauty and authenticity. Favorite performance ever. Bobby Hatfield thrilling with the voice of an angel! RIP 💙
I TOTALLY APPRECIATE your reaction. You are a professional. You respected the song enough to actually listen to the music and the lyrics and not stopping it every 15 seconds. I can tell you are a compassionate, respectful and kind man. You are such a joy. I gladly subscribed.
Looks like he could have done it in his sleep... Later when on tours though he could not do it, it clearly took a great deal of skill... Skill that I have never seen from anyone in my life. Best live performance of all time, easy.
Right you've heard the song before but watching this guy sing is something else. The soft eyes, the shy smile, the ease the emotion, it is a master class in perfection. AND WE all know what's coming! Those big notes. Hahaha sing to a girl like this and she automatically ovulates! They called singers like this back then crooners, and well yes panty droppers. Can you imagine slow dancing with your girl like this....
Listening right now to a CD from the library of the Righteous Brothers. This "live" version is even better than the recorded studio version, especially at the end. What perfection!
As an African American growing up in the 60s and onward, I really appreciated the artists of the day, Black and White, from James Brown to The Beach Boys. But, I appreciate them even more now. I listen to all the Oldies on Sirius XM from even the 50s which was a little ahead of my time, as far as music appreciation. It's fun to see the reactions of younger people to music and artists that we almost took for granted, there were so many of them. I hope you'll checkout Something's Got a Hold on Me",by Etta James and "Hurt So Bad", by Little Anthony and the Imperials. Both live performances are on the Tube.
The word people struggle to find describing this song is ROMANTIC. It was written for a 1955 prison-themed movie titled Unchained. This live performance by Bobby Hatfield blows all others out of the water!
I sang this to my wife at our wedding in 1983. She, however she said I murdered it. I'm guessing it's not a song for a baritone, she told me I was of better sticking to my drumming. I thought it was an appropriate song as I was in the Royal Marine Commandos, I had returned from the war for the Falkland Islands when I proposed, and now was shipping out to Sierra Leone two days later, so much for my attempt at being romantic. On the upside she liked me in my Dress Uniform, and having my comrades forming the sword tunnel helped. I must have done something write because we're still together and she still puts up with my singing. With 4 children and 7 grandchildren, we got busy on 3 of our baby's when I was home, we adopted the young afghan woman and her 2 daughters at the end of 2015 after they saved my life in Afghanistan (a story for another time), and we are so much better for having them, we love all our family and that is our strength. I served my Queen and Country for 34 years in the Royal Marine Commandos and later in the British Special Forces, and then 2 years in hospital, and she stuck by me even though I'm mainly wheelchair bound now. We do actually have a song by Queen called "Your Me Best Friend", a very apt song as she has been my best friend since we were both 15.
Back then you felt the music. It had a message and you felt emotion from the words. This is why older people can't understand the music of today. When we were young the music would express how we felt. Love your reaction.
YOU REALLY GET THIS.It's nice to see young people today Appreciate it. Listen to You've Lost that loving feeling by the both of them. This song was played more than any other song in American Radio history. No other song has ever surpassed it.
The rendition of this beautiful song is so heartfelt it makes me never wish to hear anyone else sing it - ever. May I say what very cute, adorable dimples your Mama or Papa gave you.
Bill and Bobby always did one solo on each of there albums and while on tour. They both wanted to do Unchained, so they flipped a coin. The music was written as the theme for the little-known prison film “Unchained” (January 1955), hence the song title. Todd Duncan sang the vocals for the film soundtrack. It has since become a standard and one of the most recorded songs of the 20th century, most notably by the Righteous Brothers. The movie “Unchained” is about a man in prison and longing for his wife and children. Hoping his wife will still be there when he gets out. So you can now understand the meaning of the song. The movie was not very good, or so my friends told me. But we were all teenagers so what did we now. Several artists sang it and it made the billboard top 100. But no one can come close to Bobby Hatfield’s version. Bobby’s version hit the top ten chart. And did it again when it was used in the movie “Ghost” It has since become a standard and one of the most recorded songs of the 20th century, most notably by Bobby. According to the song's publishing administrator, over 1,500 recordings of "Unchained Melody" have been made by more than 670 artists, in multiple languages.
I love this song ... your reaction to that first "still miiiiinnnneee" 👏👏👏 I was smiling even before because I knew you were gonna appreciate it!!! A very old song that still holds so much value today ... a timeless classic!! And yeah, if someone was to sing this to me I not only would fall in love immediately, but I would cry too ... lol I got the notifications and, of course, checked out the other one first, but when I saw this I just had to hear it too!!! Great review fam!! Take care & stay safe 💞
Watch BizMatik When you say "this man's voice is beautiful" I can't help thinking "wait for it" :-) It really is beautiful to see someone so young enjoying timeless music!
live, parents in the audience, nervous as ever, 5 octave range and he totally smashed it! he will always own this song, troubled life, poverty, then back earning his due, great guy! let's never forget the writers Barry mann and cynthia weil plus the musicians and blossoms background vocals on many of their songs! RIP Bobby, your voice lives on! Great reaction
You now understand why the older people don't like music today. Back then we fell in love over music. It was felt and emotional. It was expressive. The songs had a message or a story. They were good times.😚
They didn’t have synthesizers in 1965 no such thing as auto tunes no such thing as synthesizers those didn’t come till later yrs this is just pure raw talent!
This song was in the movie Ghost, I am pretty sure they played the entire song, it was the pottery scene, where Patrick Swazee's ghost was behind Demi Moore while she was making something on the pottery wheel. You have to see the scene to understand the importance
Thank you for listening to the song in its entirety. That's how it should be done to get the real experience of it. Great reaction and analysis. Well done.
The song was written for a 1955 movie called Unchained, about a guy in prison who couldn’t wait to get back to his girl. The guy who wrote the lyrics refused to put any of that stuff into the song so it became a general love song, sung by many before the Righteous Brothers did it .. but nobody else did it like this, altho many other singers covered the song later (including Elvis) and based their versions of it on this version by The Righteous Brothers ... It is a solo song, but the Righteous Brothers were a duo so they flipped a coin to see who was going to do it, and Bobby Hatfield won. The other member of the duo was Bill Medley who arranged the music for the studio version as well as for this performance AND he played piano while Bobby was singing .. so it was still a team effort. Bobby sang another version for the movie “Ghost “ and this revived interest in the 1965 version (this one) which was then re-released. The Righteous Brothers and this song made history by having two different versions of the same song in the Top20 of the charts at the same time, competing against each other!
This live performance was at the Andy Williams Show when Bobby Hatfield of the Righteous Brothers sung Unchained Melody in 1965. His mother was also in the audience during this performance.
Bobby was 24 yrs old here. The song is about a man in prison writing to his wife. He’s asking if she still loves him and would she be waiting for him when he is unchained from his prison. The time goes by so slowly for him and it changes people. Bobby’s mother was in the audience for this performance.
Ghost. That was not this version. That was his studio version. This was an appearance on The Andy a Williams Show. The arrangement is different, especially at the end. Many people say this is the finest performance in pop history. It certainly ranks very high on the chart. It is calming, but powerful. Can you imagine being there.
I went to see the Osmonds & was so disappointed at first that they were not there. I quickly got over it but couldn't figure out what the feeling was I was having.
There were two Righteous Brothers, not real brothers, Bill Medley and Bobby Hatfield. They both wanted to record the solo, so they flipped a coin and Bobby won. It was meant to be because no one else could’ve met that perfection. He had a magnificent range and a smooth delivery of this beautiful love song. Anyway, that’s why Bill wasn’t in the performance. It was originally written for a movie back in 1954 of a man who was in prison and wanted to know if his girl would wait for him. It wasn’t recorded by Bobby until 1965. It was recorded when young men were going off to the Vietnam war and it meant a lot to them. RIP Bobby.
Bobby Hatfield was a classic 'counter tenor'!..Extremely rare voice..200 years ago, he would be in huge demand to sing in high register in choirs..Why?..Because they stopped the act of 'Castrati'....Even today he would be in demand to perform in opera's around the world!
This was performed live on The Andy Williams Show,a singer in his own right, there is a slightly longer version where Andy interviews them and we learn the have a sense of humor,Bill Medley actually the single solo with Bobby, but on the other side is a great song and fun time with the brothers and Andy coming together just for some good old fashion fun called What'd I Say,if you can find that just watch it for your own enjoyment.
So many wonderful songs by the Righteous Brothers besides the ones mentioned below by viewers. Ebb Tide sung by Bobby Hatfield & Brown Eyed Woman sung by Bill Medley. Bill's leading but has Bobby joins in the bluesy song "I want to make love to you". "You'll Never Walk Alone" on the Ed Sullivan TV show with both of them. Ck them all out by the Righteous Brothers..the vocals are amazing.
When you sound that perfect live, that's real talent.
This live performance is actually better than the studio recording, and that's a rare thing. This song touches everyone. We all need love and want someone to love us deeply. I loved your reaction. I could tell he got you in the feels.
The Righteous Brothers were pure talent; their voices complimented each other; this performance was live; Blue Eyed Soul

Thanks for watching
This song does touch your soul and bring tears to my eyes
From a time when ballads were lyrical, melodic and romantic. I'm glad I grew up with these songs.
This is why I love music that come out way before auto tune because it is their real voice back then if you could not sing everyone knows it.
A great time for music
And u are also right there’s many greats alive and killing it today
I TOTALLY APPRECIATE your reaction. You are a professional. You respected the song enough to actually listen to the music and the lyrics and not stopping it every 15 seconds. I can tell you are a compassionate, respectful and kind man. You are such a joy. I gladly subscribed.
Thank you for the sub. I appreciate you 🙌🏿
I loved your reaction! You GOT this song - the lyrics, the music and the amazing talent of Bobby Hatfield. So moving.
His mom and dad in audience. Supposedly he was nervous. Could have fooled me. He killed in and looks effortless doing it. 🙌
Wow that’s crazy
real competitors feed off that nervousness. I would puke before a big race at swim meets back in the day. He did indeed kill it for his mom and pop.
@@davenunyabusiness4893 Bobbi
puked before every performance!
Makes me happy to know that.
Looks like he could have done it in his sleep... Later when on tours though he could not do it, it clearly took a great deal of skill... Skill that I have never seen from anyone in my life. Best live performance of all time, easy.
One of the truest most heartfelt reactions to this song I have ever seen. Great job man!
Thanks I really appreciate that, the is beautiful
You can see that he is a true music connoisseur and open minded.. refreshing
I never get tired of hearing this amazing song. Bobby Hatfield the best. Your reaction WONDERFUL.
Back in the day when music was real! You had to have real talent, no autotune, etc. Thanks for the great reaction!
Thanks for watching 🙌🏿
It's just a flawless performance that will live forever.
MASTERFUL!!!!!
Great reaction! Welcome to one of the two greatest singers in history. And their voices together were like Thunder and Lighting.
Just amazing and thanks for watching

I cannot imagine how, after this performance, there was a dry pair of knickers in the house.
WOW! His entire vocal range! That AMAZING falsetto! Those strings! What a phenomenal musical experience! 🔥
Listening right now to a CD from the library of the Righteous Brothers. This "live" version is even better than the recorded studio version, especially at the end. What perfection!
Wow. I missed this. A year old!!! A classic!

The word people struggle to find describing this song is ROMANTIC. It was written for a 1955 prison-themed movie titled Unchained. This live performance by Bobby Hatfield blows all others out of the water!
That’s the word
The full length movie is available on UA-cam.
This song by Bobby was used in one of the sexiest scenes in movies. The love scene in GHOST.
Pure talent.
I start and end my day listening to this song!!!!
Same
So do I!

No matter your age, we all fell in love with Bobby. I was 6 when I saw this live on tv in 1965.
Back then you felt the music. It had a message and you felt emotion from the words. This is why older people can't understand the music of today. When we were young the music would express how we felt. Love your reaction.
I thoroughly enjoyed your reaction, obvious you like what Bobby Hatfield did -- just a man and the mic .... so smooth like butter.
Thank you

One of the greatest vocal performances ever.
I've read that when he finished this song in the studio he said, "I can do it better," and they said, "No, you can't."

This song touches the soul…
Hey man,if you shedding a tear hearing this song do not be ashame
You now understand why the older people don't like music today. Back then we fell in love over music. It was felt and emotional. It was expressive. The songs had a message or a story. They were good times.😚
And bl**dy good true singers to present them to us without electronic whizz bang technology. It was their voices only pure and simple.
🇦🇺🇦🇺😷😷
They didn’t have synthesizers in 1965 no such thing as auto tunes no such thing as synthesizers those didn’t come till later yrs this is just pure raw talent!
It just makes u think lol just wow
The only way for this to be better is to see your face straight on! I saw it made you tear up. One of the most moving songs ever!

This live performance was at the Andy Williams Show when Bobby Hatfield of the Righteous Brothers sung Unchained Melody in 1965. His mother was also in the audience during this performance.
Mr. Bobby Hatfield King of Blue~Eyed soul!!!! 🌹❤️😁 Since 1965 he's been putty us in his beautiful spell!!!! 🌹❤️😁😍❤️🌹😘😘😍
Gentle and kind, singing to the girl not singing at her!

Yes, this was most definitely a "moment", but I'm sure glad it was captured for posterity. RIP Bobby.

Super amazing voice,,,can't top Bobby
Bobby Hatfield was a classic 'counter tenor'!..Extremely rare voice..200 years ago, he would be in huge demand to sing in high register in choirs..Why?..Because they stopped the act of 'Castrati'....Even today he would be in demand to perform in opera's around the world!
I remember this well . . I was 17.
Great old song
I wish we could have seen your face while you were reacting .. I always get a kick out of people hearing Bobby for the first time ..
