When I was little, my grandfather would use pineapple juice to sweeten the dressing for the coleslaw. I love it!

Thank you lovely lady, I was preparing coleslaw tonight to go with our fish and realized I didn't have any mayo. You saved the day and showed me that you don't need mayo for coleslaw salads. Greetings from Toronto.

Great recipe!! I salted the cabbage first, put in a Callander over a large bowl and let it sit in the refrigerator for 2 hours. Lots of extra moisture seeped out. Then I rinsed the cabbage mixture really well and transferred it to a salad spinner to remove all of the excess moisture from the rinsing. I used your mayo based dressing, exactly as your recipe stated (except I only used 1/8 tsp of salt). Voila!!! A wonderful tastings coleslaw, without the dressing getting soupy. Thank you.

Hi, I love coleslaw & wanted to make my own for the very 1st time! I made the mayo based coleslaw. I didn’t have celery seed so I used 1/4 tspn of celery salt in place of 1/4 tspn of salt. I added 2 stalks of celery-finely chopped because I love celery! This was honestly the best tasting coleslaw I’ve ever eaten & I’ve had a lot! Thank you so much for sharing your recipes! I’ll be making the oil & vinegar based one next!! 😍

I make both versions, but with a couple changes. For the creamy, I like to use only half of the mayo and replace it with plain Greek yogurt. For the vinegar, I sub out half the vinegar with lemon juice. These are delicious and folks really like them. Thanks for posting!!!

I was looking up a recipe to make for coleslaw within mayo because my boyfriend doesn't like mayo and yours looks so nice and fresh and I remembered once in a while my dad would make coleslaw with all red cabbage and it would give it such a beautiful color. I’m a flight attendant, so I notice that recipes that contain vinegar usually stay fresher in my lunch cooler. I love cabbage slaw with vanilla yogurt and dried cranberries (craisins). I made shredded zucchini yellow squash and carrot slaw with plain greek yogurt and sliced bing cherries (pitted). Good for people who cannot digest the cabbage. You could also shred iceberg lettuce and serve it with Macintosh or Granny Smith apples that would be great with lemon greek yogurt and poppy seeds. 🙂

@@Faith_Chi Hi! Thanks for the reply. I ended up cutting celery really fine and small and adding it to the dressing. Worked great!:)

I had vinegar coleslaw once at BBC place and It was delicious. I found couple of recipes but wasn't happy with them. I need to try this recipe.

I really love this coleslaw recipe of yours, I made it many many times but I always love to watch it again every time I'm making coleslaw. The vinegar coleslaw is my partner favourite since he doesn't like mayo. thank you for sharing the recipe.
