Oh how I wish I could build one of those! Sadly: 1) I am dead broke 2) I have no workshop 3) NC DOT has a stick up its posterior concerning hand-made frames So...i'll just have to live vicariously through your videos. More please! :)
This is such a sick build!!!! I LOVE IT! Seeing the whole process is inspiring and informative. Ive done very little metal fab, just some lathe work, but watching you work with a welder, with seemingly little effort, gets my brain thinking about what I could possibly build! Your work has more influence than you may know. Thanks for boldly creating and letting us tag along! :)
every time I watch your progress videos, I feel like we think the exact same way, because when I see you having a problem I say "you should do xyz" and two seconds later, you do it! your "organized chaos" way of building is pretty much how I work, too. like a tornado just blew through, except you know exactly where everything is. I aspire to do the same kind of work--this trike is looking so good! I tend to have a very simplistic/utilitarian view on life and I would LOVE to build my own fuel-efficient compact vehicle like this. kudos! never stop doin what you love!
Fun seeing someone else do stuff! I would have used same shocks and swingarm. The windshield urethane is good stuff if you have any left over you will need to use it. Try using some to glue broken driveway cement back in. Lasts forever
Paul your bike is looking great especially with the weight distribution should be nice for breaking more evenly then front-engine. Don't know if you're going to do this or not but having a smooth flat bottom on the vehicle should help with fuel efficiency.
I still have a working Piaggio MP3 motor/wheel assembly... I wish, I could build something similar BUT I live in an over regulated country. Btw: You should also put a seat on top of the motor, for driving with cargo and on sunny days.
u going to gusset those swingarm uprights from the frame?. whats that motor, it looks nice n simple like my old SL125 was.. (tho the huge cam cover looks a little Yamaha...) CDI? there should be tones of info on making that run more efficiently. Looks like it may be later than the old SL units with points (ughh). Depending on use some would extend the manifold to the carb. There are a huge amount of 2nd hand carbs that would suit that are way more efficient than that ol 70's designed (keihin ?)
Looking good Paul, a helpful hint for you, you can use a pipe clamp to pull your tube down to your bending blocks. By the way who makes your radius tube bender?
How will you be able to get this street legal? Going to use the motorcycle VIN, if so I guess you should add the height of a helmet to you bubble location. Fun watching this build.
You could use a e-scooter to make one of these... mind though it would have to be three feet wide to fit in a bike lane due to it being a low speed vehicle and have a pedal secondary drive-train , but you wouldn't need a license or permits for it.
It seems like it is going to be pretty loud in there. Are you sure you don't want an electric drivetrain? With the light weight and streamlining, you would not need much power or capacity to drive at a good clip.
If you're planning on using that on the road you might want to leave room under the canopy for a helmet. Depending on your local laws the trike is likely considered a motorcycle and will require a helmet.
this is a great idea and all but wouldn't a small car engine be better with fwd? motorcycle engines aren't built to be efficient, mostly just powerful and light. and then there is the chain drive... more losses. anyways keep it up I want to see how it performs!
I chose this year and make and size of motorcycle as this engine achieved over 350 mph on an enclosed motorcycle while traveling highway 101 in California back sun 1982? Check out craigvetter.com
I am always amazed what you Americans are allowed to build Projects and drive on public roads. With us in the Netherlands you will not receive approval from the Authorities to drive this on public roads. Maybe in Great Britain, there I saw a Skip with a motor in it get a Mot.
I think it's a mistake to make the cockpit so small with no cushion room around your body. in case of an accident the frame should be able to crumple around you to absorb the shock. your frame is probably strong enough not to crumple in on you but if it does you can die. you would be essentially be building your own coffin
@@mikebolinger2492 four wheels is a car so hard to register. Three wheels you use the motorcycle rear swing arms and gearing much much simpler over fwd

I've long been a fan of your fuel efficient 3 wheel vehicle ideas. Great to see a new one.
Me too!
Hello Paul
Glad to see you’re still making videos
Thanks Christian and Ryan. I enjoy the editing process. Yet another creative fun thing to do.
Your welcome Paul 🙂

Innovation that inspires creativity - good medicine✌️
I remember you making that one trike a good bit ago, glad I was able to find your channel again!
ALLLLLLVIIIIIINNNNN!!!ok, but seriously, the home-made motor mounts... AWESOME idea!!!
I really like this build. I have been a fan of the original 3 wheeler project you built previously. Very awesome.

Looking forward to the next video ... Greetings from Costa Rica 🇨🇷🇨🇷🇨🇷
Im on the edge of my seat now! Great work.
Absolutely golden content. I hope you get a TV show someday
That would be fun, but happy doing what I'm doing.
This is moving right along. You're going to beat the Elio to production. hehehe (Yeah, that was a jab at Elio. :D )
You never cease to amaze me Paul, infact you've inspired some of my own builds . Thanks for that.
Thanks!
@@paulwelkinsdiy Anytime 😀✌
Your videos make my day better! Thanks
Take care with
These hard times Paul love your work ❤
Cant wait to see it finished
I like that you had a chipmunk translate during your video, for all those bike-building chipmunks out there.💗🐿

I'll keep that in mind, as I have a few cracks to fill.
I like what you're doing so I'm gonna just be patient a wait for the next video.

Not sure. Purchased year ago at Harbor Freight.
@@paulwelkinsdiy thanks that's what I needed to know.
You have a good evening, be safe.
How will you be able to get this street legal? Going to use the motorcycle VIN, if so I guess you should add the height of a helmet to you bubble location. Fun watching this build.
Due to the low stance of the bubble I may forgo it and have an open cock-pit race car style. We'll see.

Electric motors can be excessively whiny and loud as well. This way I can go on a trip without worrying about where I'm going to charge the batteries.
You should check out the way the steel was bent by the artist that built the whatts towers.
I was just about to start building my velomobile trike and saw your video. Where did you get that plexiglass bubble for the top? or maybe you made it?
In the first episode I think he said it was from a electrathon racer.
It looks air cooled, how are you gonna keep the engine cool? I'm assuming it will show up in the design later or I just missed something...
Do you see the shaft hanging out of the top of the engine? A cooling fan will soon be mounted on this shaft.
Very cool!😎👍
I need to build a side car for my electric scooter - my dog insists on it😁
2:26 now starring Chipmunk Elkins!
What do you call that steel tube bender? Looks handy
Not sure. I purchased it years ago at Harbor Freight
Paul, do you ever get a sense of claustrophobia inside your tiny structures?
Not really, unless I'm sitting inside with nothing to do.
If you're planning on using that on the road you might want to leave room under the canopy for a helmet.
Depending on your local laws the trike is likely considered a motorcycle and will require a helmet.
That little "squeak" at 1:58, I'm pretty sure that was "sh!t"
Nonsense!

Edit to 350 mpg. not mph.
You could tell Luke that chain drives are highly efficient; more so than belts, shafts or hydraulics.

Is there an overhead roll cage to this thing?
Just a roll bar on this, soon to come.
Cool.
they are running this unit in key west florida already invented
Nobody these days ever really 'invents' and idea.
cool
I'm kinda claustrophobic, this would probably give me a panic attack.
👍👍😎👍👍
Why is everybody on reverse trike Kick
Maybe cause they’re more stable than a traditional trike..........just my opinion.
@@sci-figuy6668 That could be but I watch for channels that all are doing reverse trikes I just Thought it was a little funny
