This is a really nice chair/ band workout that I will share with seniors in my groups. But I caution about upright rows. Thank you, Meredith, for these great workouts, they feel wonderfully energizing. Just a question: is it OK to do those short resistance workouts daily? Greetings from Turkey.
Hello in Turkey! With resistance/strength training, every other day is best so the muscles can mend and grow. On the day between, great for cardio, stretching, ROM, and balance work. I hope this helps! Enjoy!
Thank you so much for all your excellent videos I will be very grateful to you if u could show stretching, strengthening, flexibility exercise for seniors with S shape Scoliosis. Thanking you in advance
Hi Nafisa! I appreciate your comments, and yes I do hope to put a specific workout together for scoliosis. Thank you so much for your question JG Hernandez. As a matter of fact, this workout is great for osteoporosis! Any weight bearing, both low impact and high impact workouts as well as resistance training using weights, bands, or balls, help with building and maintaining muscle which helps with our bone strengthening. Here is an article I wrote on this subject: www.seniorfitnesswithmeredith.com/osteoporosis-awareness/ I will keep these workouts coming for you to enjoy :-) Thank you again! - Meredith
Love your workouts but I purchased some resistance bands that seem to be much shorter than yours, how long is your resistance band? Mine is 471/2 inches long.
Hi Maria! Thank you for the comment! I’m so happy you enjoy the workouts! So with my bands, I usually buy a roll of Theraband and cut to size, usually around 55inches in length. The precut ones for purchase are usually 5feet (60inches) in length. So yours is slightly shorter. I hope this helps! And you can get a longer band if necessary! Take care and stay healthy, Meredith
Hi Meredith, I was glad that I came across your video. Thank you. May I assume that it is fine doing these exercises, except those for the legs, standing up? I tend to inhale and exhale just opposite to your instruction. In other words, I tend to inhale when you say exhale and exhale when you say inhale. Is this ok?
Hi A Wong! I am so happy you found my channel and workouts! Yes, it is absolutely fine to stand while doing the movements that can be done standing. As for the breathing question: I say as long as you are breathing, I am happy:) Usually when doing any type of resistance training work, it is best to exhale while exerting. So when the muscle is working most, exhale to help lift the weight/band. But again as long as you are breathing, all is good!! Take care and stay healthy, Meredith
Hi Doris! Always consult your physician first, but all types of exercise is good for upper body lymphedema. Stretching and flexibility: www.seniorfitnesswithmeredith.com/simple-stretching-chair-exercises-for-seniors/ Strength training: www.seniorfitnesswithmeredith.com/senior-fitness-upper-body-exercises-for-beginners/ Cardiovascular exercise: www.seniorfitnesswithmeredith.com/senior-fitness-20-min-low-impact-cardio-workout-for-beginners/ All will help the deep breathing, blood and muscles pumping, which will help lymp move along. I hope this helps! Keep me posted!! Take care and stay healthy, Meredith
Hi Meredith, I would like to ask why always start from legs exercise then abdomen & then arms? Can we begin with shoulder 1st? Please advise. Thank you.
You can start with whichever body part you’d like, I too switch it up. I like to start with large muscles, such as quadriceps or back, to help warm up the body and other muscles.
I just found this video and saw all the others available. I'm 70 , working on losing weight and have developed airplane wings vs bat wings !! Also had a knee replacement which was the best thing I ever did and will have the other done in new year. Need to strengthen legs - especially thighs which I can't seem to lose weight on and the knee flexibility for pre surgery. Which bands do you suggest as there are so many and which video would be best to start with ?
Thank you Kathy! Keep up the great work, and keep strengthening the legs so the knee is ready for surgery. Here is a link to bands I like: www.seniorfitnesswithmeredith.com/equipment/ Take care!
Hi Bhanu! Thank you for the comment. Yes I use theraband and I get them in rolls from Amazon. I then cut then to length, about 55inches for me. They do sell sets that are great for beginners! I hope this helps! Take care and stay healthy, Meredith

Your exercises should me more cognizant that some of us can’t do exercises where we open up our chest like that, because we have pacemakers and the connected nodes dont like when you open your chest like that. You need better upper body exercises, its not only about sitting, that for me is the only variation you made, everything is just normal
Hi Josette! Thank you for the observations and comments on the video. When it comes to any workouts that I put together for my channel and for seniors I work with, I am always aware of capabilities and boundaries. These workouts are put out to the masses where, as you can see at the beginning, I like to say do what you can do because every individual is different. I’ve worked with and will continue to work with many people who have pacemakers and I know limitations very well. That’s why there’s a variation of still working front of the body, chest, with the band but not opening the arms...pressing the band straight out in front of you(chest press as opposed to chest fly). Also, when I put workouts together I make it so they are moves that most everyone can do and every part of the body is being utilized, all muscles are being worked, range of motion is in place. Again each individual has to go in knowing their limitations and what they can and can’t do on any given day knowing each day is different from the next. :-) Again I thank you for your comments and I hope you enjoy the multitude of videos I have put out for the broad range of people I am working with and trying to touch and impact in positive ways! Have a wonderful day! Take care, Meredith
Hi Elaine! Thank you for the comment! Yes, you can be barefoot when doing the seated exercises. It is when we stand I believe a nice comfortable and sturdy shoe is a good practice to have. Keep up the great work! Take care and stay healthy, Meredith
This set comes with 5 bands of varying resistance, a storage bag, ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxS7ex6L4sMqpaTn4LnBPyBmRQsSingL8y a small pamphlet with some sample exercises, and an access code for an online workout video. I haven't viewed the online video, so I cannot speak to the quality of that piece of the set. However, everything else is perfect for what I was looking for. The bands are durable, and the resistance strength varies enough between bands that they're each useful for different exercises and provide a great challenge as you gradually increase the resistance level for certain exercises. The only band I don't use very often is the lowest resistance band, but even that is nice for exercises that target weaker/seldom used muscle groups.
I prefer bands, I can hold better and get better resistance…but tube bands are good as well. Especially if you like the foam handles that generally are on them. Really a personal preference per user:) I hope that helps!

Here is an article I wrote on this subject: www.seniorfitnesswithmeredith.com/osteoporosis-awareness/
I will keep these workouts coming for you to enjoy :-) Thank you again! - Meredith
@@SeniorFitnessWithMeredith Thank you so very much for your response looking forward to keep on working out to your videos :)

Thank you very much for your quick response and detailed explanation. Wishing you and your family stay healthy and safe!
Thank you, you as well! Stay safe and healthy and happy!

Thanks again, I would like to do some exercises for lymphedema (left arm) any recommendation?
Hi Doris! Always consult your physician first, but all types of exercise is good for upper body lymphedema.
Stretching and flexibility: www.seniorfitnesswithmeredith.com/simple-stretching-chair-exercises-for-seniors/
Strength training: www.seniorfitnesswithmeredith.com/senior-fitness-upper-body-exercises-for-beginners/
Cardiovascular exercise: www.seniorfitnesswithmeredith.com/senior-fitness-20-min-low-impact-cardio-workout-for-beginners/
All will help the deep breathing, blood and muscles pumping, which will help lymp move along.
I hope this helps! Keep me posted!!

Here is a link to bands I like:

Thanks Meredith. From where do I buy this resistance band.? Is it called theraband?
Hi Bhanu! Thank you for the comment. Yes I use theraband and I get them in rolls from Amazon. I then cut then to length, about 55inches for me. They do sell sets that are great for beginners! I hope this helps! Take care and stay healthy, Meredith
@@SeniorFitnessWithMeredith Thanks Meredith 😊

What "weight" resistance is this blue band...they come in different colors
Hi! Yes, each brand has a different color for each resistance. This one I was using in this workout is a medium resistance. It was an off brand. I hope that helps!

@@SeniorFitnessWithMeredith I was doing a band workout the other day and broke my band. 😀
Again I thank you for your comments and I hope you enjoy the multitude of videos I have put out for the broad range of people I am working with and trying to touch and impact in positive ways!
Have a wonderful day! Take care, Meredith

Fabulous is it ok to be bare footed Top lady
Thanks!
Thank you so much for your generous donation!
