We all know how good Jerry Douglas is but got to say that the other members of the Navy Bluegrass band are really good. I especially liked the violin and banjo player that I rate A+.
What was sweet was watching Jerry dig on the Navy's dobro player. I mean, that cat certainly learned some of his licks from Jerry (you could tell) but he played beautifully with creativity, and Jerry was all about it.
Best video on be watched today! I appreciate y’all’s picking and most importantly, your service, protecting my right to play my 5 string or my .45 caliber any time of want. Bless all of you. Good stuff!
This video is breaking my face because of my smile. I love this stage and love the people who run it and make it all happen. I've been here many times. I'm so glad to see the band back on stage and even more proud to see Flux endorsing it by appearing...Thank you Mr. Dobro. Whew....just proud. Wait till you see what is coming for the Navy Band...
I thought The 6 foot 5 Dobro will finish that tune without solo, boy he can play and swing this thing very well, bravo to all the band members to come up with such a groove and nice bluegrass licks !
Our sailors and soldiers have talents outside of defense. I wonder how many of them are from the Appalachian/Ozark area. The banjoist is a smiling sort, isn't she? Salutes to our women and men under arms!
Jerry Douglas? Cool, but what about that banjo player? I'm so impressed with a lot of women that play banjo now days that have a good hard driving sound! Kudo's to the whole group and thank you for your service most of all!!!
Played enough to be mighty impressed with this group. All of 'em have a great feel for bluegrass, despite some clear classical technique that can sometimes be a hindrance. But it's like learning to speak a language and letting go of your English pronunciation. I'm betting these folks spent some time at the Navy school of music at Little Creek Amphibious Base - some monster players come thru there, seem like they bring a trainload of talent and skill, learn a bunch more, then go forth to share music with sailors on deployment around the World. God Bless these players.
Is that Banjo player a alumni of ETSU, she looks like a player I remember seeing from years ago there, good player. Of course Jerry Douglas goes without saying is amazing.
Anybody know who the young Lady on Banjo is? She looks very familiar. If she is who I think she may be, I think she studied Bluegrass Music at ETSU, the very first college in the World to offer a Degree in Bluegrass Music.
Man…the recruiter neglected to tell me about the Navy Bluegrass band when I joined. I would have made a career out of it if I could gotten paid to play banjo in uniform….instead of blowing sanitaries overboard at 300 feet deep. Awesome playing…I’m just jealous. :)

Only, the banjo was not miked well...
Jerry can’t be beat but the fiddler in that band is probably the best instrumentalist on that piece. Wow!! Amazing job all!!
They’ve been great for the past 50 years
Oh man they are.great . I really love that banjo picker. She,s aulsome. Cause my favorite instrument is the banjo.
I agree but the flatpicker ?? !! That's a beautiful solo, very well done in my view !
I'm a banjo player ,,,

Haley Stiltner can drive man. Always loved playing with her.
It's been more than a few years since I was on that stage. I'm very envious. That being said, I'm very proud of my shipmates.
Give the lady on banjo more volume she is brilliant 🤟
That's Haley Stiltner and she is an excellent player.
@@dlagrua Yes indeed love her playing, I have seen one of her playing Pike County Breakdown 👍
@@dlagrua long time since ETSU. heard she decided to work for the flag. glad to hear her again. she is good!
Yes, she was quite at that Mike but superb (/^v^)/! 🪕🇺🇸
Because of course, it’s Jerry Douglas!
The Dobro player was awesome....imagine having to follow Jerry Douglas ....no pressure there......WOW
Yeeeeee-HAWWWWW! Good stuff!

They're damn good or Jerry Douglas wouldn't be on-stage. Outstanding pickers...all!!
""Fantastic ""❤😊
Old Finns like me never knew the Navy HAD a bluegrass band, but I am very impressed. GO NAVY!!
They are having WAY to much fun!!!! That kind of fun should be ILLEGAL!!!! LOHL

That's Patrick McAvinue on the fiddle. Great fiddler, great guy!
Let's not forget Haley Stiltner on banjo (of ETSU fame and Bluegrass on Main)!
Anchors aweigh!!!!
Every version I have seen of Country Current has always been great!
Our sailors and soldiers have talents outside of defense. I wonder how many of them are from the Appalachian/Ozark area. The banjoist is a smiling sort, isn't she? Salutes to our women and men under arms!
I dare you not to smile listening to this great music.
Thank you for your service and THANK you for this. Outstanding! Jerry sure appreciated it (big smile)

The USN has a bluegrass band? Who knew?
Dam good on that fiddle and banjo my dream is to learn to play both.
Excellant
❤❤❤❤❤❤
Nice....!
I know the young lady playing the banjo. She grew up not far from me!
Anybody know who the young Lady on Banjo is? She looks very familiar. If she is who I think she may be, I think she studied Bluegrass Music at ETSU, the very first college in the World to offer a Degree in Bluegrass Music.
Haley Stiltner
She's quite the banjo player.
Jerry: "Let me show you how it's done, son."
Excellent! Does the U.S. Air Force have a bluegrass band I wonder? That might be a fun 'duelling banjos' event.
Now that's some government spending I can get behind. Absolutely top notch.
What a great reel!!!

Awesome playing…I’m just jealous. :)
Makes me want to reenlist
Bon militaires sûrement , mais certainement très bons musiciens
Talented bunch with the king of dobro. Guitar and banjo needed more volume.
NICE PATRIOTS.....👍👍👍👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 🇺🇸 🇺🇸 🇺🇸 🇺🇸 🇺🇸 🇺🇸
Isn't that Patrick McAvinue on fiddle from Daily and Vincent fame?
And Charm City Junction.
Dress whites & bluegrass? How did this band come to be? All on the same ship? Musician OIS? Tasty bluegrass.
Only in America.
I tried to join the Navy 1975...
Did the Navy even HAVE band then?
Looks that music beats flip out of war
Just demonstrated how to fly as fast as Blue Angels with feet on the ground.
Хорошо если военные понимают в игре на музыкальных инструментах.
🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅
Yes YSTÄVIÄ yes RAa
Isn’t Rhonda’s daughter in this group ?
if you refer to the banjo player: her name is Haley Stiltner
I guess the new Country Current doesn't need Tina anymore.😒I wonder if they still do straight country music since Kenny Ray and Pat left the Navy.
Why does the navy even have a bluegrass band?
why not?
I'd say that Sailor on dobro outdid Jerry.
Banjo's will keep Chinese and Russian subs away from the coast ? Let try doing some actual " National Defence stuff Please???
Why do we waste tax dollars on things like this?
Daaayyyyeemmm!!😱🤯
