@Ronald Vincent To someone who doesn't listen to it, it's a general categorization. Not derogative. Grow some skin! Geez! Did you miss the compliment?!?
i love that she mentioned she learned it from skip hop and wobble , i saw Jerry and the boys do it live when it was released , that night was insane, a small theater that held about 75 people , we were speechless is was so incredible
My fav song and she does a great job .. I like the slow down gear on here that lets me hear it like my folks played it .. a little slower. Wonderful pickin' all the way around
Students? That's some really great playing all around. Leah Needham gets an A+ for playing a very difficult instrument. Reminds me a bit of Uncle Josh Graves. The banjo and fiddle girl are really good as well.
Must add Dan Boner, on guitar really plays one hot bluegrass guitar, His playing on this difficult song was extremely clean and accurate He is now the director of the bluegrass program at ETSU replacing the retiring Raymond McClain. ..
Excellent playing all around and a few went on to professional careers in music. With the retirement of Raymond McLain Dan Boner the really good guitar player is now the director of the bluegrass music program at ETSU. . Leona Totukaki is now a bluegrass player known as Fiddling Leona and travels the world with her band. Haley Stiltner on the banjo and Leah Needham on the Dobro all found pro bands to play with for a while. Haley is joining the armed forces while Leah according to her Facebook post is now living in Nashville and is a ballroom dancer. Wish that she would play Dobro again. Can't track down Danny Stewart on bass but there is always work for players of his talent. Wish all these young people well in their chosen careers. . They were certainly great in this rendition of the ETSU Bluegrass pride band.
Thank you for helping me put a name to Haley's face! I've seen her play with the USN and I think she's brilliant. Really love seeing her play because she's having an absolute blast.
I believe that the actual tune is The Big Scioto, named after the Scioto River that runs from Columbus to Portsmouth, Ohio. It is alternately spoken and spelled as The Big Sciota, The Big Scioti, and The Big Scioty. (Scioto is pronounced locally as Sy - oh - tuh).
As if I would ever learn the dobro part :-( I'll ask what's Leah Needham's tuning, low to high? Expecting it to be GBDGBD, but some folks are known to go off and tune it their particular way 🙂
Bluegrass will never die , young people are taking it and running with ball
Le bluegrass est sous respiration artificielle
I was at this concert when my daughter was a month old, she is almost 13 now.
Hell yeah! Howdy from Interior Alaska!
This music will never die
I don't care for hillbilly music, but I LOVE THIS! Thank you for posting!

You Tube search *Leona & JP Mathes - Tokyo*
If you put Leah Needham into search, you can find a clip of her ballroom dancing. Tall, slender, elegant, in a fantastic outfit, and graceful.
Thank you for helping me put a name to Haley's face! I've seen her play with the USN and I think she's brilliant. Really love seeing her play because she's having an absolute blast.
Can you make a living ballroon dancing??😮
Espectacular
Desde Chile

Mr. McLain is playing the mandolin, not the fiddle, as listed at the conclusion of the video.
Maybe I could go down there n get my PhD in Bluegrass «! Seriously !
Nice music
viete o tom, že DOBRO vynašli bratia Dopierovci, prisťahovalci zo Slovenska a založili fabriku na tento nástroj Dopiera Brothers ?
0:48 guy in front row strokes his hair hilarious
As if I would ever learn the dobro part :-(
