I was seduced by the sound of the resonator guitar a dozen years ago. Being a fretted guitar player (standard tuning), I glommed onto an el cheapo round neck resonator with great sound and horrible intonation. Drove me nuts. So, I ground the bridge pedestal off it and built my own tunable bridge from old Fender Tele parts. Then I bought a Paul Beard Gold Tone roundneck cutaway, which is scary powerful. But now I'm getting the burn to go squareneck. Thanks for sharing this great info, Jerry! 😎

Nice info. I would add that I heard that Bashful Brother Oswald played round neck dobros, rather than the square neck.

is there a company that builds a resonator with the sound of the 27 dobro you played on here , most of the ones i've looked at sound like an amplified guitar , instead of that old lap steele sound , thanks

And Not because this is on your You Tube Channel , but as of right now , There is no better Dobro picker than Jerry Douglas ,,, Period ! And Again there's a lot of Pickers that have come before ,,, But none including Josh Graves can walk the dog on a Dobro like you !
