It's because he's a guy, and most times they call on her behalf if he's the one being the aggressor. It's a double standard for men tbh, and sometimes women too. but for him to just end up dead out of nowhere, and her being the only one, all fingers of question point to her.

While this chick is definitely guilty, I think most any time someone says something like: "[blank] is all I need to hear, they're guilty" shows a pretty big lack of understanding of people. Innocent people can do all sorts of shit that make them look insanely guilty, and guilty people can appear innocent, it's just reckless to assume guilt or innocence because of an action like calling her mom, or body language, or most any other singular reason.

Except the violent acts my mother has very similar situation with her new boyfriend. He can make himself look very friendly for everyone around him but when he is home he is literally mentally abusing her to the point where she also started drinking alcohol to "escape". Female killers exist all throughout history (in numbers way below men) and just like anyone that is caught they will try to talk their way out of it by using the best arguments available. Trying to twist the narrative to make herself/himself the victim to justify the crime is a strategy as old as time and definitely not feminism invention. Example, from single individuals to a whole political power system, Christianity has been used to justify their killings but that doesn’t mean this is what Christian faith is about. Feminism aims to stop specific gender violence towards women and not to give the group the right to kill. This perception is just a reflection of the systematic discrimination the feminists movements have been receiving online and in churches. And one of the ways to do it is by associating feminism with acts of violence that are unrelated to it and by discrediting the victories it conquered for women. This woman didn’t kill her partner because feminism built a society where the women is entitled to the men’s body and life. She killed him because she is a violent person and feminism didn’t pass a single law that obstructs the justice system from doing his murder justice and condemning her from her crimes.

It's hard to understand why people stay in toxic relationships until you're in one. The man who abused me was the most loving person. I didnt see that he was slowly taking control of every aspect of my life. At the end i was so isolated that i had no one to call when he split open my skull. I passed out and woke up covered in blood. He carried me to the bath and washed it all off. I was so confused and concussed. Its horrifying how quick things can escalate after they take away your support 😭😭😭😭
I used to say the bruises go away....(scars not so much).

So very true. Was with a man for over two years and didn't know what type of relationship I was in till very recently! Always put me down in a round about way. Any compliment he gave me came with a put down. Then everything that he claimed he liked about me needed to be changed right down to hair color and the clothing I wore. Said I was intelligent at first then slowly was treated like I didn't have a brain. I went from a confident woman to someone who started doubting myself. All this was so very subtle until recently. He crossed the line when he started to attack my family members and I had enough. When I said goodbye he asked what happened we had such a beautiful relationship! When I told him he crossed the line and how he had the nerve to say I knew you didn't love me and were using me. Ha don't know where he came up with that. Since I left him I am getting my self respect back building my confidence up slowly and will be more aware of people. It is amazing what we do to each other or maybe I should say what we let others do to us in the name of love!
Actually when you're experiencing this you think it's easy to get out toxic relationship but it's not especially if the other person have some explicit photos and videos of you being intimate with him. Threatening he'll exposed it to everyone.

The majority of men who are abused by a partner do not speak up. Why would you call 911 to tell them your wife or lover is beating you or sexually harrassing you when you'll just get laughed at? Men being raped or sexually assualted or harrassed in general is never taken seriously unless it's being done to them by another man. If a woman is the perpetrator, then there's not going to be much done. It's extreamly sad.

Plus there is the audio recording by Obumseli recording where Clenney says that she "literally wanted to unalive Obumseli but said he didn't take her seriously." = Premeditation.

Personally I think this came into play when his family was asking the black community to “help”. No one wants to help parents who raised a young man to be that nasty towards women in his own community. Get the community he loved so dearly to help.
Maybe the idea that he belongs to a community, that is solely defined by race, is part of the same problem.
Listening to her speak, I couldn't help but scroll through the comments to see if she would address this very point. And she did! While it's true that nothing justifies his brutal death, maybe if he had approached things with a different mindset, he might still be alive today. I've noticed a commonality or correlation between fetishism and abuse. Most stories that I've heard of abuse involving a fetish have this same structure. A person with the fetish verbally, physically, and emotionally abusing the person with said idolized features. It's almost like from the start the victim was never a person, their only value were their features.
yes. the person is strictly an object and not a real person. I went through this with my last ex, i didnt realize how much i was abused until after contact with him stopped. i started standing up for myself and he started gaslighting me so hard. i called him out on the gaslighting and he blocked me because I wasn't under his control anymore.

She wasn’t really being abused and I bet him pushing back was self defense, or they both was hitting on each other but it clear she was the aggressor because it seem he was getting afraid of her. I got someone guy that was getting beat up by his lover to get out, that not normal and I know your mom says not to hit on a girl but get out before you end up dead. I witnessed this twice and thankfully both got out of their abusive relationship.
This is pure murder and it clear she didn’t love him because she not taking responsibility of her actions. That a purely evil person and people defending her I bet wouldn’t want their child dating her, or even date her for long because this will repeat itself. Like the woman that killed her first husband and got away with it just to turn around and kill again, and only got catch because she wasn’t fast enough in killing her daughter in the hospital. She very dangerous to society and she clearly needs help.
Besides she only beating up on him because she knows she can get away with it and that deep down inside she hates herself and how she don’t have control so she kicks the puppy or the next person she think she can. She hiding her pain and the drugs not taking the sadness away, the shopping sprees and the frame isn’t bringing her happiness but a short live quick fix. I hope she goes to jail but even if not she going to go down that dark hole all by herself with no help and it’s going to get deeper. Karma is knocking at her door.

I have borderline personality disorder and am also a mental health care worker in nyc and come to conclusion that people that experiences childhood sexual trauma will behave like this in adulthood, especially when they do drugs too and haven’t had pivotal learning experiences on how to manage their emotional disregulation. I used to be like this in my early twenties but years of therapy helped me no longer physically harm my partners. But during those days I felt like I was the one abused, hurt, and isolated and had to harm the person that made me feel so beaten. Only through support did I learn that what I feel does not make it the reality. I appreciate you a lot Stephanie for bringing light to these situations.

Sigh, I had BPD too and as soon as I realised I threw a plushie to my boyfriend when I was upset and that means im toxic, I signed myself up to therapy, saying Im toxic and want to change that. That was my thought too. How many times did she have to go to the hospital for being stabbed or physically abused? And if there's complaints he's only recording his side, she had every right to start recording too from 'her side' to ensure all angles were documented.
I'm not saying Christian is necessarily entirely innocent- i absolutely do klnow of abusers who are very good at acting 'rational' and apologetic etc when they're being watched- but from what's been revealed of all this so far, the guy certainly sounds like he was heavily abused by her. It doesn't help that, in a lot of these recordings and body cams, she sounds really intoxicated and/or high which adds a whole extra level. Any sort of aggression + substance abuse is a recipe for disaster.

Heard many other female body builders that end up with a voice like that because it's super common in the body building community for testosterone, steroids and other "upper" drugs such as crack cocaine to be not just be recommended but also distributed and sold all in the gym.
HOWEVER the crack usage that was mentioned is an absolute recipe for disaster.
The reason I believe she was taking a HEAVY amount of Testosterone is because if you're on a super high dose for extended period of time your voice will stay deep and manly for the rest of tou life and this is clear to see here... But that's the LEAST of her worries😮 as its a very well known that using testosterone can cause horrendous aggression, fits of uncontrollable anger and violence a very built man that could cause serious injury to someone...

It's just how America is... The way that it has always been. I'm not surprised. I live in the UK and it would be roughly the same here. His longing to be in an unequal relationship and a violently toxic one all at his own expense had cumulative consequences in the end and for me that is the teachable takeaway here.

I live with someone like Courtney, but she’s abusive even to our parents. It’s scary, one time I accidentally brushef by her in the kitchen and she (21) went and tattled to my foster dad. He then came and told me (16) “you’re lucky you got away with that, usually you wouldn’t. I’m just trying to keep the peace she could have snapped and it would have been all bad” it’s very disturbing how even her parents are scared of her.

My ex treated me this way. Our couples counselor was who made me realize it was happening, but it was really bad. My whole family knew, but no one said anything. Later when I told my dad she abused me, he feigned ignorance and changed the subject. That will never not hurt.

I feel like Courtney has anger issues, like with things that are not that serious to typical people, she escalates to unbelievable irrational anger and violence. It was also mentioned that she said she felt angry back in high school. She has been taking substances which could have exacerbated her anger issues.
I wonder how aware of the toxicity of their relationship their families were since both of them were close. I think their families should have helped advise both of them to stop the relationship.

@@eddy-currents nah actully ive watch alot of true crime. They do put in the backstory and the anger issues and the killers, rather their male or female. Tbh it is a valid question to wonder if the families knew, if hers knew how abusive she was to him, if his family knew how much danger he was in. If the roles were reversed they would be talking about it. Especially since their anger issues can be even used in court to prove how abusive the killer was in the relationship. Since if unmanaged, they can become abusers . watch more true crime on male killers it's kinda the same way , they explain even the sexual abuse the killers go through. I'm not saying that there's a difference of how male and female abusers are treated, after all men are considered to be more angry while women are just "emotional" in everyway and weaker . So people often make it seem like only men can abuse but that's not the case . I'm just saying that ur kinda wrong in this situation.
So much to unpack and digest. One important thing I want to mention is that even though he recorded conversations, arguments, etc., the level of self control required to stay calm that entire time would be incredibly difficult to maintain.
I genuinely believe he did it for his own peace of mind or protection. Who knows, maybe he recorded it just for himself to clarify in his mind whether he was somehow gaslighting her or if she was the one gaslighting him.
Overall, it sounds like it was an incredibly unhealthy relationship but I get the strong sense she was the abuser and he may have reacted in less than healthy ways at times.

I’m glad I found this video. Because I’ve been thinking about getting a place to live with my ex from 7 years ago who was abusive. And this has been a stark reminder that it is not safe for me to do that. No one believed me when I said how abusive he was. I thought to myself I have to record our conversations to get people to believe me. I was choked multiple times, and got my finger broken. Everything was always my fault. He would snap at the most minor inconvenience. Please, anyone here, if you feel unsafe, even if no one else believes you, if you feel you have to record them for proof because they and everyone around you gaslights you, please please please get out. I can barely afford to live alone right now, and I have no friends to live with, because this person isolated me so much and everyone is too busy to accept a new friend. I’m not sure what I can do but I am now reminded I cannot go back to living with him. Stay safe.

I have been in a similar situation as you. As advice, one of my greatest mistake was believing it was to late to reach out to others, and that telling the truth was not possible among friends. It is worth a try, especially with what you are considering. You need to have vetter in life then that, so you never consider it again. Take care ❤

As a black person/African this case pissed me off. I watched the interview where she says she only dates black guys. Her calling him the N word. Her beating him. Her mistreating him. He was basically a slave to him. Don't get me started with him saying he doesn't like black women. He really didn't like himself and the fact that he is black. His family failed him, he failed himself.

Her behavioral pattern reminds me so much of people with borderline personality disorder (BPD). Her childhood trauma and the cocaine use likely contributed to it. Cocaine abuse itself can change one’s personality towards many symptoms of BPD. She obviously needs mental help, but what happened to Christian and his family is truly heartbreaking. I’m also very disappointed at the people who jumped to conclusion solely based on race and gender in this case. Thank you Stephanie for covering this case.

i hate the correlation between bpd and abuse. theyre not related. not one statistic says people with bpd are abusive. she doesnt show any symptoms of bpd besides impulsivity and big emotions.
i live with bpd and the way she goes through her emotions reminds me a lot of myself when i’m very heightened.

I don't link her to enough symptoms to diagnose it and as someone with bpd never related to her at all in this. But people will always be disappointing and stupid, just ignore them. so what i’m tryna get at is that *bpd does not make you a bad person.* but a _bad_ person with bpd thoughts, behaviours and reactions can become lethally worse. add to that her particular bpd being aggravated by substance abuse, a clear constant unmedicated delulu manic episode (while insanely strong mind-altering chemicals are dictating her brain at this point), and being treated like a princess by her family who could do nothing wrong, no consequences? the bpd would just be the fuel to the fire.
i can say this with conviction because,,, although leagues and leagues harmless compared to her menace, i had a manic breakdown last year for about 3-4 months. i don’t recognise her, that person cannot be me. my worst crime would be being convinced my ex was being abused by his mom, ask him to move in with my family, and not giving him his phone back in the middle of the night- running crazy on the street with it, because i genuinely believed he was in the most atrocious and dangerous situation ever with his mom and she’s manipulating him to come back with her, and if i give him his phone back he will spiral deeper into abuse.
i somehow convinced myself that was what is best for him, that nobody else knew what they were talking about. and that’s what unmanaged manic bpd does. changes the entire truth or maximise tiny reactions into explosions that destroy everything in its path.
for a decent human being, it’s “i’m so sorry i jumped to an unhealthy conclusion and spiralled into emotional dysregulation because i was upset”. for entitled, unhinged individuals like her, it’s “you think i am wrong? well i guess i have to defend myself by stabbing you with a knife because you deserve it for making me upset”
i’m sorry it’s so long. i just wanted to illustrate very clearly why bpd is a neutral entity, that is either a butter knife or a machine gun depending on the person that has it. not inherently bad, but not harmless either.
If this woman were truly the abused one in the relationship, there would be no videos or audio of her punching, slapping, screaming at, or yelling racial slurs at that man. I didn't even know she called him racial slurs. His friends should've told him the truth. As a black woman, I can safely say it's not just his tweets that got him backlash in death it was previous situations involving black women dying and it being laughed at by black men. I do feel horrible for his family. Please, anyone in a relationship, regardless of gender don't ever ignore those red flags. Move away in silence if you must.

This is my first time hearing about this case. It's so sad! How I wish he'd left her when he realized he wasn't safe. If he had enough awareness to start recording their interactions, he knew he was in danger. If anyone is in this position, leave. Just leave. It's not worth your life, no matter how much the other person tells you they love you. Be safe out there!

Regarding the shark thing, I've met a girl once who told me she has such a phobia of sharks that she can't go swim in a lake, river, pool, and sometimes she gets uneasy even in a bathtub. She explained that rationally she knows perfectly well that there is no shark in a pool or a lake, or a bathtub, she's aware of it, but that's not how phobias work, she just cannot go in a pool and enjoy it because she feels so anxious the whole time, it's more of a torture than a pleasure.

I know there isn’t. In a pool I can literally SEE no creature is in there, but as soon as I get in my anxiety goes through the roof.

Wow, I had an ex exactly like this. Admittedly she's the most physically attractive person I've dated, but she had narcissistic personality disorder. Its where everything has to go according to their reality or they start lashing out verbally and physically. I really feel racism contributed to Christian's death. Like not just the nature of racism itself but the way she comes down on him in the videos of the abuse is like a plantation owner, like he is her property, he exists to worship her and how dare he even breath in the direction of another woman.

If she doesn’t get arrested, I give up of humanity. This case is just insane, the victim isn’t alive to tell his side of the story. The level of disrespect the victim’s family got from the police/detectives is nothing like I’ve heard before, it’s just enraging.

It's also fishy to me that she yells at Christian like he never takes responsibility and is the problem. He apologizes to her and specifically explains which behaviors of his were wrong "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said that. It's not okay." I've not heard her apologize to him once in the clips. She's literally throwing tantrums

I am pretty sure anyone is allowed to do self defense. Problem is we are much, much stronger, it's pretty easy to over do it, or, faced with a crazed women, hurt her, because she is moving recklessly or is threatening with some sort of weapon. As soon as there are a few scratches or bruises on the woman, she can easily claim he was the one abusing. Also, the problem is if the abused, doesn't have a place to stay, they are renting together or whatever.
I am just thinking of practical reason, that aren't "..but I love her".. for not just straight up leaving the same second the other person becomes violent. If I found my "perfect" lady, beautiful as an angel, with all the character traits I value the most, and her only downside would be random bouts of violence, uff... I don't know, I got a spare bedroom, so I guess, I would be ok living with such a person if I could lock myself during sleeping. I wouldn't be able to sleep, if she might stab me during my rest. But she would need to be perfect, and that just doesn't exist.

I have my own apartment and after a few months of dating and .asking sure we are on the same page about kids, I would ask her to move in with my. My condition is simple. We need to spend at least two years together, through up and downs, to really get to know each other. I am not repeating my mistake with last girlfriend who could never spend more then night or two.. it turned out she was a pathological liar, and if it wasn't for same female friends we had, and me knowing those friends for much longer, also her stories presenting me in such a cruel light, so much so, that they felt obligated to tell me, I would lose much more then half a year.. she lied flawless, but she was also malicious.. She would break up people..
Also don't want to do what my parents did, I was barely five when they divorced and it was borderline violent.. So either we live two years together, hopefully go through some major turmoil and comeone stronger, or very break up. I am not doing to my kids what my parents ( from best intentions) did to us.. Made me play messenger from 6 to 15 since not even a phone call could pass without shouting or cursing.. I still got scars on my soul from that..

I was dog walking at that building that day. A tall black guy with huge muscles asked me:” Can I go in the elevator with you? I am scared to be here alone,” He told me the story and that she was out and in the building. The story is chilling, and that huge guy looked so scared, too. I got a better job offer shortly after, so I never returned. But it is weird to see this story on UA-cam now 🥶
As someone who’s been in an abusive relationship. As soon as I heard he started recording arguments. I felt so deeply he was a victim. So many times Me and my ex would argue and I’d record it. Mostly because I was afraid if I had to go to the police I needed evidence. But also just a recording so I could listen back and see if I was insane. Of course even abusive ppl will record. But mostly once they get a recording that makes them look good they instantly show it to police, friends, family just to make the s/o being abused feel like they now have no way of speaking out. Because everyone already thinks they’re the abuser. And even when me and my ex would stop fighting. He would confront me for “hitting him”. When it was me trying to get him off. My best example is one time he randomly decided since I was watching tv instead of giving him attention. He was going to take my tv. I got upset and tried to move pass him to plug the tv back in. He then pushed me down and slammed my head on the floor, on top of me. And me trying to push him off. I must’ve lifted his shirt because he got a deep scratch from one of my nails. Instantly even though he was the one to pin me down. He was the one hurting me and shoving my head into the ground. He would go on and say how I hurt him and it was going to leave a scar. He’d show people and they’d look uncomfortable and I’d feel so defeated. Because even with all the videos and audio recordings I’d have. His one scar made me out to be this terrible person. So I never got help. He ended up cheating and honestly it was good for me because he then had to run off to care for his baby mama. I was so excited literally the same day packed all of his thing with care and was so nice just out of fear that upsetting him he’d try to stay. But even then because of that damn scratch I gave him. Whoever he told probably thinks I’m abusive. But because if cases like this where some girl says she was abuse when she clearly was an abuser. Makes people like me feel even more afraid to speak out. So I hope he gets the justice he deserves and his family finds peace once again
Also side note. You can see photos of here the day of his death. Yes she covered in blood so TW before looking. But her neck seems fine. How she describes it. She acts like he was strangling her next so hard she felt he was trying to pass her out or kill her. With that much force but no marks on her body. Yes red marks can go away after. But she would be showing something if he was being that aggressive.

I did the same about my recordings. I would record them because I wanted to see if I was actually the crazy one but I wasnt. its so scary being in that spot not knowing because you love them sm that you hope its maybe you so you can try better or harder to love yourself more for them but it isnt that at all.
same when I was in a toxic relationship i started to record to see if i was crazy and acting how he said i was and also for a paper trail if things ever escalated (which they did) i started recording after one fight where he held me down choked me and while trying to push him off so i could breath i accidently elbowed his lip after his lip was inflamed and he started telling people i hit him which i didn't after that i knew i needed evidence

Having dated a Nigerian, they’re intensely emotional but not always abusive. They take their traditional masculine role seriously so for her to say to him “you never protect me.” “You were supposed to protect me.” must have hurt somewhere DEEP. That read on him being gaslit into thinking he was the gaslighter was dead on. Black men are already conditioned to see themselves as overly aggressive in the public eye, and self conscious about having to be careful to avoid making that impression. it’s so sad and sickening to see how she exploited that fact to control him. However he said he wanted nothing to do with women like me so 🤷🏾♀️ that’s all the sympathy I can muster for the situation. She showed him who she was and no matter how ugly he couldn’t get enough. My husband’s ex wife would do this to him. She would hit him even in front of the kids, blow up over EVERYTHING, gaslight, cheat but says he was, and actually had him believing he had a mental illness and he ended up in a psychiatric ward for a week. He had counseling where they opened his eyes to the 13 years of abuse. His ex would record him after she would push him over the edge. She would be calm and “the victim “ because he’s so abusive.
In the year and half my husband and I have been married and have faced extremely stressful life experience back to back…. he’s never once acted how she protrudes him.
I know people react differently in each relationship and my husband isn’t perfect or innocent but this stuff happens to guys more than others realize.
That is so disrespectful, the fact that nobody called the family. It’s a call. It’s not rocket science. This was a person that died, a human. How should the family not be notified? Ugh! What a terrible way to find out about your son, the call about the organs 😢
As someone who has been abused by their significant other, you don't raise your hand to hit back if you fear them. People saying she's the only victim are delusional. If she was so afraid of him she wouldn't openly hit him for fear of what he would do to her behind closed doors. Physical abuse shows who has the power in the abusive dynamic because if they can physically hurt someone they claim to love then they have no control as a person, period.
There are different types of abuse. I'm the same as you but had a gf who's bf would beat the shit out of her but she wasn't afraid to hit him back and I literally told her that scared me more because that's how things escalate!

@Noodles please remember the recordings, even if he stager the audio ones, the elevator one and her behaviour in public clearly shows she was the abuser/ attacker/ the one that held the power. Destroying him mentally and emotionally, humiliating, gaslighting and belittling him, making him sleep on the floor of the elevator/ in the lobby...she held all the power and took her frustrations on him.

I've heard of gaslighting, but gaslighting someone into believing _they're_ the gaslighter? And then to gaslight him into promising not to gaslight her anymore, which he wasnt doing she just gaslight him into thinking he was? Thats like, _meta_ abuse. Thats _insane._
