the ffxiv party member that never learns the mechanic

Me: *realizes they mixed the tree while arguing with the bard* "YES!"
This is such a pain.
The reverse is, too. When a player isn't understanding a strat or mechanic and asks for help while another is too busy rushing pulls and telling them they should know how to do it.
Internet exists and usually games have resources inside it. The thing is people are lazy and do not research.
@Darcia Delacroix I'm not talking about that. I'm talking about after looking up a guide and needing clarification on a mechanic or not getting the chance to look again between pulls when needed. Or when a fight is so new there are no guides.
@@Zaudejis bold to assume FFXIV provides useful information in-game
@@Zaudejis Doing research spoils the fun.
@@zairman As someone who doesn't watch guides and somehow fucks up less, hard agree.
me: "that party would never have a bard and machinist in the same group"
also me: "heeheehee flaming feather gun"
the fact they did a un sheath sit down to have this discussion makes this even better
Yeah we sadly had someone like this. We explained the mechanics, we went over toolboxes, we tried to clear stuff up beforehand and then we wipe to this one guy who does the exact opposite of what we discussed, just to go "Oh i didn't know i was supposed to do that". Then on the next pull he still doesn't do it and we wipe again.
Sometimes players (like myself) can study a mechanic and not understand it until they actually see it a few times. Nothing wrong with it, frustrating for the others, but visually seeing it blow your ass up can help. Just don't do it consistently (which also happens) 😂...
@@Capocollo Nothing wrong about that, but that guy just couldn't get his shit together. This came especially clear when Dsr dropped. Because he was not able to do in/out in p3 correctly, even tho we called it, we were stuck there for over 6 weeks. Im not kidding.
This is specially frustrating for me. I can learn every mechanic in this game after seeing it a max of 3 times, and some people can take a whole month of prog to get over a single mech consistently.
I usually don't even say anything to people like that. Just kick the guy and refill.
@@kunstlerischesetwas1284 pain. DSR is the kinda fight you don't take someone into if they haven't cleared one of the previous ultimates XD
FFXIV, Melee and Sunny was not a combination I had on my bingo card this year, funny stuff
No kidding lmao. One of my favorite bits too, and the slippi while pfing lmao
I wish you all a Static Christmas and a Party Finder New Years.
*Party Finder New Years*
Please no.
i always feel like the idiot when i've had somebody try and clarify a mechanic 8 times for me and i still don't get it. eventually, out of shame, i shut up and let luck guide me the rest of the duty. and to be clear i don't do high end content, closest i've come was doing zodiark ex with a safety dorito last patch lol. i've been playing for over 2 years and the other day i forgot how to get rid of doom in the sunken temple of qarn. at this point i think i'm just stupid.
Nah it's normal. Some of us play pretty "casually" because FF14 allows it. I watch a youtube video explaining the basic mecanics of bosses before doing a endgame dungeon/raid of an extension, otherwise I just strictly follow other people to avoid getting hit lmao
That's still what I do currently with the Pandemonium raids to finish getting the stuff from it. I just follow party members, and don't understand half of the mecanics of the bosses lmao, despite doing all those raid bosses like 7 times each by now lmao. Still don't understand how we're supposed to know which part of the grid Proto Carbuncle's beam won't hit with those damn mirrors for instance
I think it’s a prime example of the game’s boss fights just not being very well designed. A lot of the fights have these really asinine mechanics that you could never get on a first or second playthrough.
i didn't realize you could get rid of doom until 3 days ago when the tank said "overheal me when I have doom" and i was like why.
anyway, i kind of want to try harder content, want to group up? lol
@@earlyspark theres like 4 Dooms in this game.
1 is Esuna
1 or 2 are Instakills, unless mechanic done
And I think 1 is overhealable
Idk, I only know the Esuna one (O4N comes to mind)
And instakills (Qarn, so many other instanced content bits)
@@wilcowhiteheart807 omg lol til
Look, when we all decided to get this game, you knew I was picking Wildcard and speccing into Maniac.
The two homies just playing melee between pulls is such a beautiful touch. I used to do that with a buddy over netplay back in WoW Legion era waiting for guildies to show up for raid lol
I had this kinda guy in my pub raids on extremes. It was a fellow tank and the guy just... Didn't want to do the mechanics correctly... Tagging out tanks, tanking the the ads when off tank, killing ads.
All they did was hit the boss over and over and over.
Unlike this example... my fellow tank decided to not listen to the veteran player, decided to blame me and the healers, decided to blame me whenever he stood in giant AOES of death.
And more...
It was infuriating to the point me and the healers said: "Just don't ress him right away" It also sucked we had to use tank limit breaks to survive some attacks since again... he didn't do the mechanics right. We did beat it eventually with him there. Got 6 commendations that day. Felt good.

*treeface*
Makes me happy that I don't have an ego and when difficult stuff for first timers like me like Garuda extreme happened (Thank you for making it a force of a quest), first thing I did was ask if there was anything I had to watch out for.
Thankfully that time we did it, we had a tank explaining the mechanics. We got wiped about 5-6 times, but we improved each time and eventually cleared it.
Literally me, and don’t worry guys, I’m equally as frustrated.
The worst is usually a mech will finally click once I’ve come up with a way simpler/stupider explanation that makes sense for me. (Side note, if someone’s stuck on a mech, try explaining w audio cues. ‘When the music does this, 10 seconds after they say that…’ etc. Idk, it’s been a total game changer for how quickly I learn)
this is literally every game that revolves around mechanics. It drives me crazy how stubborn people can be even though the whole group, including themselves. benefit from doing the mechanics.
To be fair FFXIV can be overstimulating and hard to follow at times.
I don't know what game this is referencing, but it's still hilarious and amazing how It's Always Sunny fits with everything lmfao
The name of the game is literally in the title, smh.

Venomous mass
The tree and mass knows all
Why I have not finished the Coils because my brain was not understanding that day. I even watched a guide. Nope. It just was not clicking. Fortunately, I was in a real casual group and we wiped the whole day. We were terrible but that's some of the best memories of playing 14 I've had.

Just imagining failing in front of 7 other people is why I can't even que for normal modes
Half of those people barely know what's going on either. That's what I told my sister when she was nervous to play healer in mentor roulette. Most people are winging it, and most people are more focused on themselves rather than you. Unless tour mistakes are so egregious that cause wipes. Then idk
we love u capocollo
Welcome to the shitshow!

Had a BRD who pre-pulled Barrage and Raging Strikes, didn't have their DoTs until GCDs 2 and 4, and also Septuple Weaved at one point, in an old static of mine.
We were on P5S for two months, because they would get hit by Claw to Tail or Tail to Claw, every, time.
They also said "Circle is easier than Zigzag because I don't need to count jumps."
I brought this up to them, I brought this up to the Lead, and I was told "This is a casual static, we don't need to worry about DPS until we consistently see enrage. Everyone learns and does things differently."
Yes well the Bard wasn't learning and playing his class wrong. If you ever get in a party with Skie Wolven or Knight Fluffy, both on Primal, I'm sorry for your loss.
Thankfully now I'm in a new static and we're Animals 1 gaming.
Everyone in the 90 alliance raid since everyone does 50 now.
I am the mix between the explainer and the one who doesnt give a fuck and sleeps till prog continues. Spot on group description tbh.
Me at 0:36 : "...wait I know that melee combo!"
THE FUCKING TREEE IM WHEEZING
Now this is a high quality meme right here.
The two playing Smash is what got me.
Always... despite numerous guide on how to tank, theres still Tanks who play like DPS e.g. monk... move around, spinning around, jumping aropund, instead of tanking... thats more horrifying than then not knowing the mechanics...
You don't even need to go to current content to see this live and in colors
i was waiting those 2 making a tree lmao
Ah another episode of party finder, fantastic show
"Oh sorry guys my uh... Fish is drowning"
As a BRD exclusive I have this to say: do we have to learn anything? We can just keep stay running in circles and shooting and expecting healers to save our asses. :D
This is me trying to do Intemperence. I don't even know why it gives me such a hard time.
This is golden the tree during it makes it so much better
And this is why I frantically study guides to ANY duty whatsoever, even the smallest ones. My friend scolds me for it because I should just learn as we go and I'll figure it out and it's not a big deal, but World of Warcraft drove the fear of messing up in dungeons/raids into my head and now I feel the need to be fully prepared when it comes to all mechanics before queuing for a duty, lmao. Despite being told that people are generally a lot more patient and decent in FFXIV, and having experienced that myself over the several years I've played on and off, I still don't trust it and I still feel like I gotta be perfect at every boss fight before trying it. 😭
Dawg if it aint savage youre doing youeself a disservice. This aint wow
@@dustinhatfield8373 I know it isn't WoW, it's just anxious habit that's ingrained itself into my mind, if I go in blind, I panic and I genuinely don't have fun that way. It's genuinely impossible for me to go into dungeons or trials or raids that I haven't looked up first, without feeling panicked about it. :(
@@WithASideOfTibbs well what i meant by that is just 99% of people arent going to treat you the way the wow community would for not being perfect.
Only in savage difficulty will you encounter fights that get wiped if one person makes a mistake. Just say hey everyone its my first attempt! And generally if you HAVE to know something then someone will happily chime in with a heads up.
As long as youre having fun thats all that matters but i guess to me the fun is spoiled by taking away your one chance to experience it blind. Ill usually look up a guide after my first attempt so i know the correct thing. As you play the game youll see that most fights use the same mechanics and it gets easier to identify (i.e. bosses raising a fist or some other kind of attack to their right or left typically means dont be on that side of them)
If you happen to play on the primal datacenter you can add me and ill even go with you on your first attempts and be your safety dorito :D
@@dustinhatfield8373 Ahahah, that's what my friend always tells me, I've been playing FFXIV on and off for years so I've always gotten a good feel for the community, it's just something I've always done habitually.
Now that I think about it, I kinda look up everything; wiki pages are my best friends, I usually don't like going into ANYTHING blind, I'm always looking at guides, wiki pages, let's plays, all that stuff. Don't know why, just never liked going into games or other things blind, especially when doing something I don't like doing (such as dungeons and trials, I hate having to do those, lol. I only do them if they're required for story). I'm honestly super glad for how easy mechanics are in that kinda stuff, even end-game Endwalker stuff was nice and easy for the most part, thankfully!
I play on Crystal and Dynamis, unfortunately, but hey, datacenter hopping is a thing! Maybe next time I get into FFXIV again and can afford that subscription, I'll hit ya up so I can force ya to get me those Extreme dungeon mounts. Still need the wolves and some of the birds! 😆
Just blind them. If you blind them, you'll learn better what to expect when you do newer content. And tell the others that you're new. Most of the time they will be nice or they will explain mechanics when needed. And let's be honest... if you're a dps... people really don't care THAT MUCH if you die a lot.
I have the brain of a toddler.
By the time i remember the mechanic exists i already got hit by it twice.
That Snowman forgot to do a countdown.
Impressed they got to the end of HC2 at that last bit
ye thats definatly me, i try but im allways go "i have no idea whats happening, so im just following someone "
Oof this hits too close to home.. My static disbanded recently because we can't clear P8S...
The Gang Vote abandons.
“What do you think is happening right now?” Is the raid equivalent of “who do you know here?”
Me getting lucky with p4sp2 static towers for full night, only to come back the next day and realize I was making the red mage adjust every time. The best part is no one fucking said anything.
Wait, what adjustable, static towers did part 2 have?
@@MyVanir You know how you would take "this tower or that tower" for the first set, I was doing it mirrored instead of shortest distance. So I was landing in the red mage position when we had to move East West, he would scoot into mine. I never noticed until the next day after I needed to watch the vod to figure out what was going wrong. Lesson learned, never miss the first day of prog.
@@moosecat00 Are you talking about act 1? Not really sure what on earth you are talking about. I do not know how you would take "this tower or that tower" because there is no mechanic called "this tower or that tower".
@@MyVanir Yeah, you have North South, or East West. You had static priority towers. The way it was explained to me was verbatim. "You're taking South West Tower, and you'll take the same positioned tower if it's East West." In my head, the way that it was specified "East West" and "Same Position" meant that it was mirrored in case of East West. When in reality he meant you are always in this South West tower, the end.
Every time East West was popping up on my first night, I kept swapping with the Red Mage unbeknownst to me. That poor PF Red Mage. So for a full night whatever the hell I was doing actually worked, and did not work the next night.
Needless to say we had a good laugh about it when we figured out that my static finally gaslit me after a year of trying, and they didn't even have to try this time. Oddly enough I think at some point when we started parsing the SMN wanted my spot if it was a certain direction due to ifrit phase or something, idk. I ended up flexing on towers a bunch in the back half of that tier.
@@moosecat00 If you actually cleared the fight, you could've just said the name of the mechanic. As you didn't, I am going to assume you blowing hair air.
World of dark on top of crystal tower with cloud of darkness as the final boss (there’s like 5k dungeons, the one with the annoying dog)
You can keep saying A=ads, b=belly and c=chains all you want, I did not know that mechanic until someone was kind enough to explain it.
Ads go after dogs or lizards or something, do not attack the stomach, that’s pretty much a wipe. Belly go in some weird goop then enter stomach portal thing and attack something? (When I checked it was already done) chains reattach the chains, anyone else can just attack the dog when you have the time.
I’ve done that dungeon like 20 times and not a single person explained it until we started arguing. Please elaborate for the adhd folks in the back who never learned and just attacked the boss
Same for show your hole. I don't know when that started popping up but always die on that til then.

I'm sorry to everyone who joins me in doing the Navel Extreme. Titan has it out for me specifically. I always die to the mechanics no matter how hard I try. It's not me it's the game
I just want to clear :(
The first mystake is doing savage contents
Reminds me of a go at Leviathan Extreme earlier this year. Admittedly, it was via DF, which I understand was my first mistake, but this run was particularly bad. No matter how many times we'd say "When you see him pop out of the water, RUN TO THE OPPOSITE SIDE" people still got knocked off the platform. Even if we said "FOLLOW THE MARKED PLAYER; WATCH HIM" people refused to listen and we'd wipe. Over and over and over again. I have no problem with wipes because it's people's first time and they don't know (everyone starts somewhere), or they make a mistake; it happens to everyone in the chaos. But the same players over and over again NOT listening? Tf? After over an hour, people finally started leaving. Like why even do an Extreme trial via DF if you're not gonna try? Just trolling? Idek.
I've been that guy on accident even though I don't mean to and it's pain...
Of course i know who this person is, it's me
