They get carried by really good healers. And because it works, they will automatically stick with it. RE that Ktisis tank, it's possible they used WT/Tribal quests/MSQ Roulette to get them all to 90. That's what I did with Tank classes and MNK to level them up. That said, I certainly didn't try my luck with Roulette playing Tank, and risk getting a level 90 dungeon. That's just a bad time for everyone.

About the tank in Ktisis the other option you have of WHY he did that (and I totally hate this type of behavior in case it was what he did) MAYBE he got angry that u pulled ahead of him, it happend to me so many times and heard of stories of Tanks getting this ridiculous "if he pulls it he tanks it" phrase, so I won't be surprised if that was the case, if is an early arr dungeon it's understandable but ktisis is like 87 dg? But idk, that's just my guess, maybe that's why he left too
I've only ever really had that attitude a very few times and it's usually because the person doing so is being kind of a dick and isn't asking me to speed up. One time I literally paused to just to ensure an AOE would actually hit everything and ensure that I had the aggro of everything and the healer rescued me forward and I was so tempted just put my weapon away and shirk them. 0 communication, just super passive aggressiveness
I totally get that! I have Astrope too yet sometime the void calls out to me and I queue up for Mentor still x.x Tbh though, I enjoy the Extremes because they're at least entertaining but I hate stupid Lapis Manalis and Prae, get that all the time when I queue now
Playing DRK in mentor roulette is a power move. You could play literally any other tank, that has infinitely more sustain and ability to carry. But you're stronger than that.
When I was farming mentor roulette on main I got Rathalos EX three times in a row with the same tank, and the DPS couldn't understand why I was telling him to use PF. This was before SB was included in the trial version, so he had no excuse not to use PF to farm it.

The thing I hate most about FFXIV is that it's plagued with players that never played games in their entire lives, got to max lvl and still don't even know a basic ass rotation or any mechanics.
I had written a couple replies to you on this but I find that my grievance lies which your delivery of this comment which isn’t really fair. - - - I find that I feel that it is disrespectful to the other party members for people to queue for the difficult extra content and not know their job. I believe that might be what you are getting at in your post? All we can do is respectfully council them or we leave. It’s not mandatory for us to play with everyone out there. Some people just don’t mesh and that’s okay ya know?
there is absolutely nothing wrong with picking up xiv as your first game ever. its ok to be max level and not know your rotation down to the millisecond because the game doesnt give you jack shit of an inkling of what your rotation even is. people learn and operate at different speeds and gamers with disabilities exist. the only thing you can take from this that i do agree with is that you should do some basic research at least if youre going to queue for extremes. the way you worded this comment is incredibly cringe
@@KiryuuYoshiyaNo it's not ok to be max level and not know what world you're living in I'm sorry. That's nothing more than ignorance on their part. There are so goddamn many sources you can spend 10 minutes of your life so you don't waste other's 30-40+. We're not in the year 2000 where people struggle to press 1 to kill a goblin because games are a new concept. If you are max level, you've already spent HUNDREDS OF HOURS ON THIS GAME, not just turned the damn thing on. The dude catching droplets with his mouth open is wasting way more people's time with with his inability to grasp basic mechanics or refusal of improvement than me being rude to grandpa that's lvl 90 on a Monk doing out of order aoe rotations on the boss. It's 2024, you can learn from anywhere, you can spend 20 minutes on a dummy and 10 minutes on a video to learn your rotations, if you want to inconvenience others, team up with your friends or there's a bunch of single player games out there. It's rude to suck at MMOs, ok? You can press 1-2-3, pressing 1-Q-2-E-3 is not that goddamn complicated.
Have you ever considered that your attitude might be the problem? It's a game, man. It's there to have fun. Everyone has fun differently, and if people just want to jump in for an hour or two every week then let them. They aren't hurting you. If it's really that big of a deal for you, stop doing roulette with pugs and do it with your friends or FC mates. One or two poor players won't make that big of a difference. Take a step back and cool off, friend. The only one here getting mad is you. :)
I had a marauder in dps gear today in aurum vale and they pulled big too and i was going as sage. Even my shields struggled with that...died faster than i could cast my heals and the one ogcd heal i have at this level wasnt enough 😂 that first room took legit 3 tries because after dying for the first time, he would also not wait for me to cast at least a shield before enaging again...we eventually made it but i wanted to rip my hair out
Bruh, i met a GLD as a WHM on dungeon lvl 35 who was dying to a single pack mob (consist of 3, each of them striking him, meaning 3 hits in, result in his HP below 30%). Stupid me being sleep deprived at midnight just frantically healing him everytime and only examine his gear before last boss, lo and behold... 1 or 2 tank gear, and the rest are lvl 20ish dps gears (can't remember exactly which is which) , and LVL 1 SWORD AND SHIELD, THE WHITE ONES YOU GET JUST AFTER CREATING YOUR CHARACTER LMAO
Man..I'm so glad that I rarely ever met a bad player like those around 9:00 the only time I met a really bad player is a tank that just never w2w at lvl 80 ( I was leveling WHM or one of the healer class at that time ) but when I play tank I rarely met a very bad dps in party but there was a time when I met not a really good healer either but it's not that bad
Gonna be a lot of contention on that Ktsis part for sure since for some reason people in NA still believe pulling ahead of the tank is sacred ground never cross it. Personally while i would've considered rescuing his ass as close to the soil as possible, hindsight right? I'd also like to take a look at what the GNB was doing specifically without even considering the fact that it was an 8 pull later, what was he doing with the 3 mobs? Didn't point out that this was going to be a slow run or discomfort towards W2W. In this content especially with how restricted EW is, is seen as standard and for the most part expected practice. I saw one heart of corundum go up with nothing stacked with it, honestly this is fine for 3 mobs, EW dungeons that aren't the Tower of Zot and the magic hitting mobs in Vanaspati (Seriously they do hurt single target these idiots even if the wall is pulled) hit like wet noodles. AoE Is still a damage gain on 3 the only time you'd consider switching is if your party is also sting on 3 just to get rid of one mob quickly, it loosens the damage the tank takes. Zanagoth pointed out rampart at 20% health, bolide would've been better at that health value. No Mercy came up at a very weird time and since he wasn't aoeing i'd expect to see the Ready to Rip/Tear/Gouge/Blast buffs, which did not pop up, unless no mercy is on CD (it can happen), this is one of the first buttons you press after planting. Also taking notes on what the DPS were doing, If wall to walling isn't standard practice, take a look at specifically where that black mage was planted and that reaper's circle didn't go up until all the mobs were present. Theres further proof the reaper knew what they were doing when zanagoth was about to die and he put up arms length for the slow effect. On a different note, Unreal to me that your still playing this roulette after the mount, i wanted out when i got my 2000 I was losing my mind, keep up the content, these videos are always a treat and i guess in a way, catharsis?
W2W should be expected. I remember w2w that dungeon in 530+ whatever msq gives you on patch so even the healer and dps all lacking gear. Sometimes you get fixated expecially when spamming mentor roulette and you brain off W key the entire first pull. It happens and you even find the tank refuses and put up with it, they try and learn and do more or they leave. Im assuming this video misses the context of not continuing to pull ahead if the tank was to stay.
About few weeks ago i got wanderers palace as a DPS on duty roulette, our tank single pulled packs and i noticed our SGE just jumping back and forth with their legend tittle so i decided to encourage our tank to just go crazy and pull as much as they can and oh boy they did, so that day that sprout learned to w2w and that SGE got their sweatiest dungeon run ever! 😂 (clear with no deaths)
That's bad enough, but I had a friend yelled at by the tank for healing them (they needed it). After some angry ranting they left, leaving two very confused DPS and a sage behind.
6:30.... max tanks, lot of dps max.. and no open healer at all? how... and wait.. you can leap of faith .. rescue - during animations when they are already pushed back? i thought they would just die and rescue wouldnt do sh..
It's cursed tech, Rescue acts as a force on a player and overwrites any knockback if timed correctly, this is how people can salvage Harrowing Hell in P10S if the net is not built correctly - the healers can rescue each other to cancel the knockback and then healer lb3 to save the run
I usually dont mind tanks that single pull but... like you if i saw their gear id assume they know what they are doing even if they got the gear while leveling dps, 85 and 87 dungeons hit like damn trucks.... so they should know at least something???
It's kind of funny seeing other mentors in the comments moralizing over their strange made-up etiquette. You have to wonder where they get their superiority from.
6:40 i admit as a tank one of the things i hate the most is people going in front to tank... But i let them taste what it does then do my job and kindly ask thel to let me do my job and stay behind while i w2w... But yeah this one's pure agony
Zanagoth has tasted the forbidden fruit and is now addicted to unearthing the dregs of humanity in mentor roulette. But it provides good content so we let him
With 9 holy use whm adds hp down 15% rest DPS all doing Right before tank get his hp 30 if tank don't use cooldown healer waste time use cure ll most packs adds
I would never w2w as a healer lol, always wait for the tank to decide, and I hated when DPS/healer ""pulls mob for the tank"" especially when you know the healer is a sprout or the tank is just new to the job or whatever reasons. Well, maybe that's the culture difference from different DC I guess
If someone is being a mentor just for a mount then they shouldn't be a mentor. There shouldn't even be those rewards for being a mentor, would save a lot of frustration. Sure there would be tons less mentors, and bunch more failed trials and etc but perhaps some sprouts would start to look up tactics when the timer is going under 20 and so on would prepare them for harder content as well. And the mentors that did stay would be there because they like helping and perhaps be less frustrated when finding bad players
I'm not sure if they (sqex) will ever do it. Mentor roulette is a glorified queue filler machine. (..and somehow it doesn't always prioritize duty in progress) Depending on content, if *anyone* leaves, you're just doomed to never fill unless you called outside help. Doesn't even have to be an extreme for it to happen (gestures to lv 100 trial that never filled with 1tank, 1 healed and 2 dps slots after 30 minutes)

For the Ktisis part: Please stop pulling for your tank unless you they said they are OK with it. I have yet to see a situation where it makes the pull better and doesn't just lead to a dead healer in the best case. Plus, assumptions aside, you can not know if the tank is comfortable/able to w2w, no matter how expected it is in high level content, if you never talk to them about it.
bruh if a tank is omni 87 tanks, and wearing ktisis and palaka gear, "single pulling tank" is the last thing I expect because it's in his own best interests to expedite every dungeon since he's obviously powerlevelling tanks. If he wanted to single pull he could have just levelled his trusts instead since it's the same pace.
See, I ran into a healer like you in a 90 roulette once. I really don’t understand why you and some other healers feel the need to pull for the tank. Why can’t you just let the tank pull the mobs, in a way that’s best for them? Y’all act like this is a saw trap that goes off if you don’t complete the dungeon in under 10 minutes, just chill.
That tank might’ve also had that gear from running/farming as another job, so they maybe weren’t super confident on tanking that dungeon. @@MahouSojuIts not hard to understand the role of the tank. You see mobs you hit them maybe sprinkle in a few mitigations thats it. Theres no strat to it.
at 90 you have like 10 resources to cycle through as a tank to do w2w and sometimes you don't even need a healer to sustain you (WAR), so it's just objectively faster to w2w, this is the equivalent of doing 10mph on a highway with a racecar. Also he was kitted out in Ktsis/Palaka gear + all his tanks were 87 at the time so it was safe to assume he was spamming dungeons to powerlevel and common sense would be, I want to help this tank do the dungeon faster so he can level faster - but apparently he's just been terrorizing people single pulling every dungeon to omni 90 which is yikes
@@Zanagoth you’re not running a dungeon like that for the tanks benefit, it was clearly for yours. I wouldn’t want to tank for you either if you popped sprint, jumped the railing, and started speed pulling W2W before even greeting anyone else. You also make mentors look like shit, like the above commenter mentioned. It’s meant to be for people with patience, which you don’t seem to have.
I'd absolutely let you die as your tank if you pulled for me like that. then say "please don't pull for me". this rarely happens for me because I actually know how to play the game. Edit 1: people don't understand that I'm talking about if that specific situation in the video happened to me. Edit 2: in my experience, EVERY time a healer has pulled for me, that action led to a wipe (this doesn't happen anymore). in my 6500+ hours of time spent in ff14 that has occurred all of 3 times, ever. I'm now going to give the story of the worst one which resulted in that healer actually getting reported and punished. the other two simply said sorry after I asked them the question above. Back in ShB I was doing roulettes and pulled Dohn Mheg, I wasn't nearly as comfortable tanking it as I am now. I was on DRK and my healer was an AST. in the FIRST pack of mobs I did the normal thing of getting to the fuath to interrupt it then proceed to grab everything. AST decides to grab the second pack, me being uncomfy with w2w, I panic and pop all my cooldowns and manage to grab everything. unfortunately the AST couldn't keep up with the healing required and I died while my CDs were active resulting in a wipe. I'm a slow typer, so they started to lecture me on how to tank while I typed out "so you're one those healers" referring to the fact that they pull for the tank. oh boy did they get mad, they started bragging about how they were the rank 10 astro in the world and would just talk shit. I asked "who shat in your cereal?" and they responded with "you did" they went on to say that that was their first content of the day. they continued to be very condescending towards me with shit like "omg they finally used mitigation" even though I had been using my mit normally before that. in the middle of the forest section I got fed up and told them I'm going to report them. they said "you know the gm will see your chat too right?" I responded with the classic "yeah, and?" at this point they just shut up and we did single pulls for the rest of the dungeon. I did report them, and I did get confirmation that they were punished in some way. a rule that I live by in FF is "never pull for the tank." if I'm healing, I don't pull for the tank. if I'm tanking, I make sure the healer doesn't pull for me. I'm skilled enough at this point where I will never wipe in mob pulls because a healer pulls for me. I'll just stop after the mob is dead and ask the question above.
So you are even worse than the video tank as you are willingly let them die?? Atleast accept they pulled more and after say something.. even then w2w expecially in that one.
That's basically just gonna guarantee a wipe for the whole party, and you're willing to subject the whole party to that just to prove a point? Shitty behaviour. While I think folks should try and stick to what the tank pulls cuz chances are they're going at their own pace for a reason, if you're deliberately choosing not to play your role correctly and not even at least *try* to make it through those mobs, you're just making life a pain for everyone.
@@deathsythe238Yeah, you wiped cuz you didn't pick up the damn mobs? Let me put it this way. Not putting in the effort to hold aggro on the mobs the party is in combat with, is deliberately playing in a way that goes against what your role is as a tank. That is a reportable offense, by the game's own admission. Healers pulling, while perhaps bad ediquette, is not something that directly goes against their, or any role. Even if someone is being genuinely shitty, being shitty to them back just makes the experience longer and more painful for everyone in the party. Just do your damn job, even if that sometimes means picking up the slack for others who made things harder for you. If you still wipe afterwards, that's fine, wipes happen. Things going bad cuz the team wasn't on the same page is very different from wiping cuz somebody refused to cooperate in this TEAM GAME.
Lmao what a joke, every dungeon past ARR is the exact same, just spam AOE’s. There is no “pacing” and there certainly should not be any short of a w2w.

Why not? The mob isn’t going to one shot the healer or anything, and it tells if you need to keep up the speed or not and learn, not everyone has the time to wait for you keeping your speed pulling when we can help faster secondly, it’s a 90 dungeon, it’s literally the few ones you do a lot,you basically have better gear than first time clearing so it’s non sense not doing it faster because at the end we all do it for the reward, so I’m quite the opposite of why people don’t understand letting other ppl that’s not tanks pull are bad, you have resources to help as well (hoc, shake it, tbn etc) if they feel danger they will go back to you or stand and wait for you to go on and such

Im sweating my ass mitting and reviving him over and over, im just baffled on how these kind of people exist. I'm not mad, I'm just confused.
They get carried by really good healers. And because it works, they will automatically stick with it. It's not the right choice to just outheal stupid, but it's also morally debatable whether you should heal the amount needed with mit and if he dies, point out his mistake nicely or just play bad intentionally until they realize.
@@shouter0086 i play on elemental jp and the guy's a jp client, so i assume he's jp. I did mention things like bloodwhetting, vengeance and even arms length using the auto translate function, either he disabled the chat or something else i dont know

new zanagoth mentor video dropped? today is a good day.
Your videos do a good job of channeling my feelings when I am healing a tank who won't use their short CD mit and asks me after they die "Small pulls?"
Me as a New Mentor see everything in this video.... *Shiver*
Honestly the average skill level of FFXIV players has been going downhill a lot and it's really sad.
Gee maybe because some haven't played in a long while and have taken a break, or just new?
@@Lunar_Crescentfall Nah, majority of players are just bad and refuse help. Not to mention if you end up giving advice to them a third person will pipe up and scrutinize you for doing so.

@@Lunar_Crescentfall Nah, majority of FFXIV players are just bad at the game. Commination is the most important part of playing MMo's.
But idk, that's just my guess, maybe that's why he left too
People need to keep their ego in check
I've only ever really had that attitude a very few times and it's usually because the person doing so is being kind of a dick and isn't asking me to speed up. One time I literally paused to just to ensure an AOE would actually hit everything and ensure that I had the aggro of everything and the healer rescued me forward and I was so tempted just put my weapon away and shirk them.
0 communication, just super passive aggressiveness

3:30 he may have been a console player/controller player. I had troubles on chains when i was new as well
Gonna be a lot of contention on that Ktsis part for sure since for some reason people in NA still believe pulling ahead of the tank is sacred ground never cross it.

3:13 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😭😭😭😭
I usually dont mind tanks that single pull but... like you if i saw their gear id assume they know what they are doing even if they got the gear while leveling dps, 85 and 87 dungeons hit like damn trucks.... so they should know at least something???

I play WHM and I’m a sprout sometimes I wonder if I suck st this game and don’t get me wrong I’m not great but at least I’m not this bad.
I would never w2w as a healer lol, always wait for the tank to decide, and I hated when DPS/healer ""pulls mob for the tank"" especially when you know the healer is a sprout or the tank is just new to the job or whatever reasons. Well, maybe that's the culture difference from different DC I guess
I just git the free trail and am lv 37 as a Warrior, and GOD I hope i do better than these guys when I get to that kinda content
Nah clicking your abilities should be bannable
If someone is being a mentor just for a mount then they shouldn't be a mentor. There shouldn't even be those rewards for being a mentor, would save a lot of frustration. Sure there would be tons less mentors, and bunch more failed trials and etc but perhaps some sprouts would start to look up tactics when the timer is going under 20 and so on would prepare them for harder content as well. And the mentors that did stay would be there because they like helping and perhaps be less frustrated when finding bad players
I'm not sure if they (sqex) will ever do it. Mentor roulette is a glorified queue filler machine. (..and somehow it doesn't always prioritize duty in progress)
Depending on content, if *anyone* leaves, you're just doomed to never fill unless you called outside help. Doesn't even have to be an extreme for it to happen (gestures to lv 100 trial that never filled with 1tank, 1 healed and 2 dps slots after 30 minutes)

For the Ktisis part:
Please stop pulling for your tank unless you they said they are OK with it.
Them not using AOEs is bad, that’s absolutely true, they should know better. But running ahead and grabbing mobs for them expecting them to know your strat and tempo is bad on your part.
If you don’t like being patient with other players; again, just don’t be a mentor. No one’s forcing you to do this, you’re doing it to yourself.
I did report them, and I did get confirmation that they were punished in some way.
a rule that I live by in FF is "never pull for the tank."
if I'm healing, I don't pull for the tank.
if I'm tanking, I make sure the healer doesn't pull for me.
@@olivia1486 every time a healer has pulled for me, it has caused a wipe. it was their own fault.
@@Ryaaka if it's that early in the dungeon they can just respawn, I'll still be up by the time their back.
You should not w2w as a healer. The tank determine the pace of dungeon, not you. You can always ask, but not run strainght ahead.
