If you want that bike to have some power on the top end replace the pipe and put a better carb and she'll scream and change the squish gap if you wanna top it off. Only thing it'll be missing then is some inverted forks and suspension tuning and it'll be a unstoppable beast
The KDX should make some decent power at the top in the power band maybe it’s not jetted right or something like that but Great bikes and yea pull very hard from the bottom of course it’s a mid bore bike so won’t make heaps of power but should be more than you seem to feel
@@logantomlinsonwiebe3619looking at the video it looks like the carb might be clogged or something but I have the same bike and it feels like it pulls harder than my cr250.
This video reminds me why I don’t buy used bikes from kids.. lol. I have a 98 220 best dirt bike I’ve ever owned.. had it ten years now maybe 5000 miles.. have never had to do a thing to it other than change gear oil…
No I did not😂 I em doing a little build on it right now and I have some feelings as to why the power was off but I will do a year review next year showing what I did and what I didn’t do and how I helped
@@logantomlinsonwiebe3619ve got an 03 220 I did a complete restoration on in the last few months. Make sure to check the piston! On the intake side they are prone to cracking. And can grenade. Brand new wiseco piston some carb work and she'll shit and git
@@jamesmize665 my 02 kx250 actually just did that I’ll have a video about it next weekend and yes I’m gonna rebuild it end of this year to be safe I don’t think it’s ever been rebuilt 😬

Love your enthusiasm. I've been riding my 05 220 for 18 years. Same clutch and never had the motor apart. Just a great trail bike.
I’ve been riding this thing so hard and fingers crossed she hasn’t had nothing wrong with it

I have a 2001 that I got for a $2k back in 2004. Recently pulled out of storage to get it running again. Love it
"Stalls bike" friend: "did you stalk the bike?" Him: " heh no.."
Yeah I brought one as a project and after I got the engine sorted she is still bulletproof 🎉
Buddy. You said the tires are almost new. Them tires on are the last legs

I started riding when I was 14 on a crf150rb and now at 16 I bought an 03 220r for 1800 love that bike
Can beat them bikes!
Your doing good 👍
jo, Ive got myself the KDX 125 93´ and it rips.

Ya and it’s real cold so the jetting will be off definitely but ya just I’m used to a kx250 and they pull way harder understandably

Stock 220's don't pull up top like the 200's, smaller carbs. The 220 is a mountain goat, the 200 is a desert bike.

He should go ahead and rebuild top end and clean kips
Looking to buy one myself
I can’t say enough good things about them!
the worst part about kdx's is hanging out with kdx guys. they're fuckin crazy. love mine tho
Had me worried for a sec😂
I have a KDX 125 sr
Did you even change the oil/plug/old fuel and clean the filter before your review? No. No wonder it does not have power.
No I did not😂 I em doing a little build on it right now and I have some feelings as to why the power was off but I will do a year review next year showing what I did and what I didn’t do and how I helped
nice
do not sell it trust me
I won’t don’t worry!!
😍👏
Sounds like the choke is on...... if not, fouled plug? crappy jetting? Mistiming on the KIPS.... KDX's run much better than this one is right now.
Hey thanks alot ya I’m going to try a new plug then move to jetting the guy I got it from was the original owner and he was pretty close to me
