I never had thought about the thumb pointing with the throttles! This is probably the simplest way to teach someone. Thank you for that tip.
I also had been taught backing up trailers using the bottom of the steering when when I was young working on the farm.
Back on the farm, they teach you how to back up a trailer even before you can reach the paddles 😄
Thanks for the video. Very helpful. Another trick is to think of the shift handles as your shoulders. If you were to pivot your shoulders the same way as you move the handles (Starboard forward with Port reversed for example), you will be pivoting your body in the same direction as the boat will pivot. This too, works whether you are facing forward or astern.

The backing up idea is good, we get the truck students to put one hand on hand on the top of the steering wheel, that way the can't over steer backing up..great idea using your thumbs to help in direction.
Buying a twin engine boat and can use all the information possible.
Nothing but a thing! A few times out and you be good 😊

I personally prefer the body of the older ones they are so much wider. The wider beam is definitely nice! And as engine swap goes it couldn’t be any easier to switch a block if you need, I replaced one of my engines with the boat on the water! 😁
