As a pretty confident skiier, Kirkwood is a tough resort, and the Wall genuinely scares me. There's about a 5 foot drop off just to start the damn thing.

Walls/double diamonds are only really fun when they're very scarcely populated. At least to me. Because unless you do like. Daily maintenance sharpening your skis/snowboard, you're gonna have minimal control on those slopes that are very likely to be completely iced over. Which is fun when there's no one around cause you can just go NYOOOOOM, but if it's busy/foggy? Ya gonna run into someone bruv. No matter how good you are, sharp curves are basically impossible on those slopes, and your breaking distance to get to a full stop is like half a fucking mile. Which are your two options to avoid crashing into that snowboarder that decided to make a turn across the entire fucking breadth of the slope or that skier waiting for their friends to catch up in the goddamn middle of the slope. And no thank you, that happened to my Grandma and she was never able to ski again

As a candle lover myself AND a former walmart employee. I can personally garuntee. We don't give a crap. Heck we'll probably join you if nothing is going on. (Or at least I will) the only time it bothers us for a customer to smell something that is supposed to have a fregrance to it. Is air conditioners. Cause you have to spray it to smell it, which wastes the product before it's even been bought.

Once something similar happened to me, I was skiing with my uncle and this was a 2 stop lift. One halfway up, one on the top. I didn’t realize this until my uncle got off on the halfway stop, guess who didn’t get off. So there was lil ~10 year old me, standing on top of a mountain. Alone. After a chat with the ski-lift operator i got to go back down, you know how it loops around? I got to go down it around the other side! Anyways I think I got off lucky with a lot less childhood trauma.
I actually really loved this video because its very relatable, when I was 9 I went to a ski hill in Canada and man was that the most traumatic experience ever, my mom and her friend took us up the mountain not know how fricking high this thing was and then my brother started crying and I had a bloody nose :) 4 hours later were down the mountain and man I looked weird. everyone was staring at me and I realized I still had a ton of blood on my face. mind you I didn't have a jacket or gloves so I was just cleaning my bloody nose with my hoodie
I swear this one time in Norway because it's usually snow in December. I went sleddig on my Maria board and so much snow got in my face 😂

Similar story that happened to me
I was 10 and we were going skiing. I saw this ski lift and wanted to go on it. I looked up and saw how high it actually was. But stupid dad thought it was a small hill so he forced me to go up alone. I got to the top and cried for help. Eventually one of the staff watching me called for help and another staff came up with this skimobile. I got a ride down and was really angry at my dad for the rest of the day but also really embarrassed so I tried hiding myself the rest of the day because “I was a failure and didn’t even try going down” according to my 10 year old brain.

I had the same experience with skiing as you. (I live in Wisconsin though.) When I was a kid my sibling took me to the top of the mountain, and pressured me to go down the double black diamond (cause it was the only way down). The only problem is that it was at night, and because it was windy all of the snow blew off leaving just a sheet of ice behind. I took off my skis and tried to butt-scoot down the hill, but couldn’t slow down, and ended up going faster down the hill than I would have if I just skied down. Hurt my tailbone and didn’t get better for weeks.
If you plan to go skiing, MAKE SURE THERE IS LOTS OF POUDER SNOW

The first time I went skiing I loved it and got ahang of it surprisingly fast, but my friend somehow thought that my quick progression suggested that I was capable of a black diamond. Mind you, this was night skiing too. Needless to say, I fell...a lot.
Also for those who are wondering, "The Wall" is at Kirkwood Resort. She wasn't lying, that peak has straight up no way out but through double blacks.
I had a similar experience one black diamond I was 8 unescorted and on skis for the first time I ended up just falling every few feet and got a concussion for a while
somehow, stranger danger is not a thing on the slopes, everyone is so nice. Once I lost my brother in the woods and so many people decided to help us find him we managed to surround the little bit of "forest" that we got lost traveling in
I think vacation spots are generally really kind places. Back when I was like 7 I was on this weekend trip where we stayed on these battleships. On our last day, all the adults went to the mess hall and some of us kids (there were teens with us) stayed in the room for a while. Eventually I look up from my Game Boy and everyone else is gone. I try to go to the mess hall but instantly got lost. Thankfully these 2 random men showed up and escorted me

As a west coast person (literally the top left corner of the US) I will say we have 4 types of weather: Heatwave, overly rainy, SNOW, and clouds.
i mean, it can get below like 25 degrees durin the night in some places...but to us arizonans, if you runa nything other than hot (which most of us dont), anything below 75 can feel like your dying of frostbite

I live in Red River in the Rocky Mountains. I LOVE skiing and I always love going up to the top of the mountain and skiing down the black diamonds under the lifts. It makes you feel so cool when everyone is watching you ski like a boss.

i had a pretty similar experience me and my brother were going on beginner and then we went on 1 that was 5 times as big and i asked "MOM IS THIS THE CORRECT ONE?" and she responds "wait WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE??!" so i ended up going down the mountain FULL SPEED thinking i was going to oof and as soon as i got too the bottom I StoPPED as HARD AS I COUld and it worked my familyw as proud of me , while my brother did the same but he somehow managed to go slower.

Our summers in the Midwest aren't 120 degrees, but they still get really hot.
Especially when you run cross country and you run 6-8 miles every day in the 90-degree summer heat.
And our winters suck. If you live in Michigan, and you drive, you will definitely agree. Let's just say that they completely remake all the roads at least once every year. The potholes are huge. There's literally an ice cream flavor named after how bad our roads are. (Seriously. It's called Michigan Pothole. It's quite delicious.)
Here in Michigan, we like to say that we have 2 seasons, winter and summer. And the seasons change every other day. Seriously. We get nice 60-degree weather in the middle of April, then the next day, we're getting snow again. We also get snow on Halloween sometimes. Then the next day it's warm again. And I'm not exaggerating. If you know anyone who lives in Michigan, Illinois, or Wisconsin, they'll tell you.
Winter is even worse for Michigan's upper peninsula. They have days where they are literally snowed into their house, and they physically cannot leave because there's a giant pile of snow in front of their door. It's great for skiing, though. Lots of fresh powder.

I am a Canadian. I don’t get that much snow just enough to fuel my urge to push or plow the snow off the sidewalks.
Winter used to be one of my favorite seasons, but ever since my 7th grade year, it has become one of, if not, my least favorite season.
We had so much snow that we had one too many snow days. So, instead of getting out at 3:00 like usual, we got out at 3:05. Adding 5 extra minutes just to make up for 1 day. I will never forget that winter.

As a skier/snowboarder since I was 4 I have gone on double black diamonds at around 10 but if you're not a "pro" skiing family then it's really scary
people say snow is fun but it's so cold you can't do anything fun outside

I'm okay with snow and chilly weather, but the ice on the roads is the bane of my existence!
