I like how Duna and Dynal suddenly just respect humans... And then Raptin walks on in, and decides to hit the Kill button, blissfully unaware that his king will most likely remove his living privileges.
Fun fact: the sequel to this game improves upon literally everything (except you can't smooch an alien dinosaur girl). The battle mechanics are more refined and actually really fun, the fossil excavations are more varied and... still kind of a chore, but more interesting (some vivosaurs have all of their parts in a single giant fossil rock, for instance), the story is even more buck wild. All the new vivosaur designs for that one are great, you get a lot more variation too with things like trilobites, aurochs, and tanystropheus (please look up tanystropheus, he's a lizard who decided to become a living fishing rod and I love him). It's genuinely just better in literally every way, I highly recommend trying it Then the third game shits on all of it by making a completely different battle system that sucks, so we don't talk about that one
I have no clue why the hell anyone would say "Oh boy, I love having two out of the three characters on my side be idiotic AI that waste precious resources that I need to unleash powerful attacks crucial to my strategy." You want to shove us into cars? Fine. It's a bit of a hassle being locked into car controls, but the customization aspect is fun. You want to lock us into a partner? Sure - Nibbles is cute and is pretty strong in combat. But the complete evisceration of consistency in strategy - that's where you lose me. There's this one postgame mission that locks you into two AI partners in a rematch against a slightly powered-up version of the final boss. These two chumps are fine - except for the fact that they have attacks that will expend *all* your FP - which is particularly crappy if you opt to use Nibbles for it. I get wanting us to feel like we're really building bonds or something. but removing player control in a *turn-based strategy game* is a strict no-go.
I’ve actually played this game enough to know that Jaiden picked Tarbosaurus as her favorite dinosaur in the beginning, based purely on the clothing her avatar is wearing, because yes, your favorite dinosaur can change what color clothes you wear.
Fun fact: if you choose Rosie she will instead lose her memories and you hip shake to give her memories back because it’s so ridiculous looking the shock brings back her memories

If anyone is curious, if you take Rosie, instead of Duna, to fight Gunash she loses all of her memories. Jaiden also left out the part where Rosie is devolved by the dinorians into a rat/possum/ like creature. Another part left out by kaisen was that dr.diggins was sent back in time to the era of the dinosaurs and survived long enough to not get eaten. Then he became fossilized and you revive him in the present. You also fights ghost pirates at the bottom of the sea.
Also left out of the video: any actual gameplay footage of the fossil fights. I thought that was kind of funny, the difference in what the first thing would be a completely new player would want to see about the game and what someone who finished it thinks is actually worth showing.

I have this vague memory of my cousin giving me his copy of fossil fighters and I LOVED it as a kid. I replayed it 12 years later during the pandemic and loved it so much I 100%’d it in 2 months. Its really a great game. And not in the game of the year sense. Its what a “game” should be

It the few venues and places to talk about fossil fighter I think there is friendly waifu war between Rosie and Duna fans . I personally like both but I think Rosie is underrated and over hated in that she's a lonely girl , with a loving but neglectful grandfather ,and she is a rich girl CHOSING to fight to the top like everyone else when she can have basically whatever she wants,and she acts exactly how anyone else would most of the time . Meanwhile Duna had to have empathy literally beat into her and almost kills you and the rest of the planet .

Frontier Is the Banjo-Kazooie Nuts&Bolts of the franchise. And that's not hyperbole either, they share the same problem. Frontier throws out the zones combat system of both the original and Champions, and replace it with vehicle customization
This was my first ds game, and rewatching this video over the years has always made me happy despite what else may be going on. It was such a fun game and a joy to see Jaiden cover it.
Fun fact: Fossil Fighters has an anti piracy script in its code, the game would become extremely difficult or plain unfair AND if you died the game would freeze on a black screen then it would crash. IDK I thought it was a cool fact.
Y'all, I played this game recently, and it is legitimately one of the best games I've played. The music slaps, the story is ridiculous and still fun, the writing is hilarious, and the actual gameplay has surprisingly deep strategy. Even the grinding wasn't really annoying at all in my opinion, I don't have any big issues with this game as a whole. Y'all have to try it out sometime.

9:23 what I love about this moment is duna just finished talking about how the dinorians have been trying to figure out how to destroy gunash for millions of years and Dr. Diggins manages to come up with a plan in a matter of minutes. Dr. Diggins was able to figure out it had 3 brains in a couple of minutes but the brightest dinorian minds could not figure it out with centuries of research.
I think many people here would love to see your opinion on the sequel (well, its not really a sequel story wise to my knowledge, just the next game) Fossil Fighters Frontier. It came out during my childhood (prob like 8-10 years ago I think), so I don't remember too much about it, but i think it was pretty similar just with more characters (altho idk if it was as self aware) and you just needed any part of a vivisaur to revive it if I remember correctly. Edit: apparently theres a fossil fighters champions which came out 4 years before frontier? Idk how I didn't know about it, but google says that it is a direct sequel to the og.

Angel I like Rosie I like her charater design
It the few venues and places to talk about fossil fighter I think there is friendly waifu war between Rosie and Duna fans . I personally like both but I think Rosie is underrated and over hated in that she's a lonely girl , with a loving but neglectful grandfather ,and she is a rich girl CHOSING to fight to the top like everyone else when she can have basically whatever she wants,and she acts exactly how anyone else would most of the time . Meanwhile Duna had to have empathy literally beat into her and almost kills you and the rest of the planet .

Like, my first time around, I quickly chose Duna as my plus-one on the Guhnash mission in the hopes that she could bail me out with her battle hologram if needed. Also just made more sense to me to have a Dinaurian with me to beat the thing that destroyed their planet so long ago...

This was my first ds game, and rewatching this video over the years has always made me happy despite what else may be going on. It was such a fun game and a joy to see Jaiden cover it.

Y'all, I played this game recently, and it is legitimately one of the best games I've played. The music slaps, the story is ridiculous and still fun, the writing is hilarious, and the actual gameplay has surprisingly deep strategy. Even the grinding wasn't really annoying at all in my opinion, I don't have any big issues with this game as a whole. Y'all have to try it out sometime.

I think many people here would love to see your opinion on the sequel (well, its not really a sequel story wise to my knowledge, just the next game) Fossil Fighters Frontier.
It came out during my childhood (prob like 8-10 years ago I think), so I don't remember too much about it, but i think it was pretty similar just with more characters (altho idk if it was as self aware) and you just needed any part of a vivisaur to revive it if I remember correctly.
Edit: apparently theres a fossil fighters champions which came out 4 years before frontier? Idk how I didn't know about it, but google says that it is a direct sequel to the og.
