Let me give you some info on this incredible trio and event:
• Igor Krutoy, the pianist, is there as an overall lead because the event is built for him: this is his birthday event that he organized with all his favorite artists, the ones that he is used to collaborate with and the songs he has composed
• This is not the first time that Lara sings this song (composed by Igor) in trio but the third time: she performed in the original version with Dmitri Hvorostovsky and Alina Yaroyava then again later with Dmitriy and Sumi Jo, before this new trio with Dimash and Aida. The song was composed from day one with her voice in mind. She has been collaborating with Igor for more than 10 years and he has told from her that she is “the best singer and the best songwriter he has ever worked with”
• This also explains why the song does not exposes more of Dimash’s upper register: it was written for the late Dmitri who was a pure baryton.
• Lara was very very sick that day, with fever and strong medication but she is skilled enough to have made it unnoticeable
• Also, like Dimash, and even if the song was composed that way with her in mind, Lara does not sing in her real « comfort zone »: she is, as Aida, a lyrical soprano but here she plays the role in the trio of a mezzo-soprano and takes the median register. It requires a lot of voice control to not interfere with Aida’s high note and does not allow her to really shine. She gives room to Aida to do it instead and Aida uses this magnificently.
• It was the first time Dimash met his idol Lara (he is a fan since he is a child and he covered several of her songs such as Adagio, Love of Tired Swans, Mademoiselle Hyde, Know, …): look how quickly he turned to her, despite he has not finished his duo section with Aida 😂 And how he looks at her and hold her after it …
• Lara is the most comfortable in italian because it is her first native language even before french: her mother is italian and while born in Belgium she spent her first 5 years in sicilia before returning there. She also is married to a sicilian man
• Look how dimash slightly adapted his vibrato to better match Aida or Lara
• Also there is a debate about the final note, held for such a long time, with the conductor looking at Igor and Igor smiling: Did they make a prank to the singers by extending this last note? Or did the singers instead played with them? I personnally think this is more option 1 😀
• I forgot to add that Lara has been classically trained for more than 10 years at Brussels Royal Conservatory and still continues to receive voice lessons on a daily basis. And she has sung many times opera pieces or with opera singers.
• Final note to say that Lara Fabian wrote the lyrics of the song Your Love for Dimash
I dont know if you know the songs from Jesus Christ Superstar the musical . If so , please react to Dan Vasc singing Gethsemane, where Jesus talks to his father just before the crucifixion. He is besides Dimash my second favorite singer. He absolutely lives the role in his performance. He is a metal singer but also classically trained like dimash.

G'day from Australia. Really appreciate your reactions, which combine experience, deep knowledge, and a really engaging and happy style. Of course there are literally dozens of supreme quality shows and music videos from Dimash, but I thought I'd suggest three which show off some of the range of performances he can deliver:
(1) Samaltau (Tokyo Jazz Festival 2020) - a heartfelt Kazakh ballad which showcases the beauty of such music, and has a MIND-BLOWING instrumental intro.
(2) Be With Me (Official Music Video) - not a live performance, but a stunning intro to Dimash's video production and acting abilities (don't miss the Kazakh rapping during the barfight scene).
(3) The 14 minute epic video A Story of One Sky. Live performance is great as well, but only the video delivers the full gut punch. Dimash spent 3 years and $7M to deliver a message the world needs to hear. some of his greatest ever singing (really!), and hard hitting emotion that stuns EVERY reviewer I've ever seen.
This was epic performance and was a special day for dimash as he could sing in a duet with his childhood crush Lara Fabian. Igor krutoy really treats dimash as his son.
Liza, definitely one of my favorite listens, ever. It was a celebration for Igor's birthday and he had worked very closely with the three of them. The entire Concert was fabulous (even Andrea Bocelli performed) and I believe this performance 'stole the show'. Lara was a little under the weather and for a while she wasn't sure if she could perform but she didn't want to miss this special occasion. It wouldn't have been the same without her. Yes, tears flow easily at the end because of the appreciation we had for the three of them. Even the conductor and Igor didn't want it to end and the conductor stretched out the end as long as he could to get every last ounce out of them. What a tremendous performance on an ice skating rink!
You are mistaken. The director was following the singers (they couldn’t see him.) who were milking that last note for all it was worth. That’s why the funny look between the Igor and the director. Regardless, it was a hoot!
So beautiful to see Dimash singing with his Idol Lara Fabian. Must have been a dream come true for him. And then, to also sing with Aida, omg what a powerhouse she is. Loved it

Thank you, Liza. Your delight with the trio's performance was clearly present throughout, as it was for many of your viewers. In a TV interview, Lara said that at a pause in their rehearsals for “Ti amo cosi,” Aida commented, "Hey, if I have to run out for something, he can sing my part." Aida burst into laughter, then Lara and Dimash joined in.

FUNNY. Lara, in an interview, told during a rehearsal for this, Aida cocked her head at Dimash and said "hey, if I have to run out for something he can sing my part" ...ànd burst out laughing ! reducing all of them to laughter and they couldnt get it together. 0K. We're ready. One would look at the other and get hysterical. Finally, when Aida biting her lip to keep from laughing, blinking like a maniac looking everywhere but at Dimash, she choked and snorted her note through her nose, by then Igor was up pounding on the piano lid laughing, they were all holding their sides and he gasped Break ! Lunch ! Great ! We need a break.
Chuckling, they put on their coats walked outside she looked at her watch and it was 9:30 in the morning. The roof came down, she had the audience and me in hysterics. She's not only beautiful, mimicking everyone, she can tell a funny story !

This was the great finale of a wonderful ice gala concert to celebrate the composer Igor Krutoy’s 65th birthday! Dimash also sang solo (Olímpico, Know) here, and in duet with Aïda - I’m sure you would love their performance; it’s called ‘Ulisse’ and is on Dimash’s own YT channel.
"Controlled fluidity of air" - i love your analysis
To clarify the links between Igor, Lara and Dimash.
Lara and Igor had been working together suring more than 10 years. Igor composed musics and Lara wrote lyrics in several languages then performed the songs.
Thru this collaboration, Lara, already a star in Russia with the mega success there of her french song Je t’aime, became absolutely massive in this country and the whole Eastern Europe or Central Asia.
Dimash was thus exposed to her since he is a child and became an absolute fan.
In the 2017 Singer contest that brought him to fame, he covered her hit Adagio.
She praised him and it also attracted the attention of Igor.
They connected together and Igor offered Dimash the choice to cover songs from his catalog.
Dimash selected Love is like a dream (an old song of Igor that Lara also had covered before) and 3 songs from the Igor/Lara joint catalog: Love of Tired Swans, Mademoiselle Hyde, Ascolta la Voce/Know.
In addition, Lara and Igor created together a song directly for Dimash: Your Love.
And finally Lara and Dimash performed in this trio with Aida Garafulina on the song Ti Amo Cosi composed by Igor.
