I remember the BAHAMAS as a red engine in the L M S livery. That was in the '60s. Saw this engine again at Oxenhope in 2008, still got my ticket from the day. My favourite engine
I look forward to these excellent videos, once again another very enjoyable and entertaining film. Brilliant Cameron, looks as if you had a superb day.
Thanks David :) We had a fantastic day there :) Bahamas is amazing :) Fingers crosses she’ll come through Chesterfield & Bolton On Dearne a few times :)
I wasn't there but I can connect the original open day in 1968 via Bahamas to the present day one in an unusual way. I was at the 1968 open day travelling on a special from Paddington hauled by D1020 Western Hero .Some years later I met a chap who came from Oldham and who said he'd had something to do with Bahamas. He died in ,1983 but film of him visiting Bahamas at Stockport Edgley she'd is on TVP DVD Steam on the Shed volume 1. On the original tour I met a chap who we kept in touch with and that exists till today 50 years later.
I feel privileged to have met you Alex, albeit in cyber space. You always have a story to tell and your knowledge and experience regarding trains is astounding,I love hearing about your experiences mate, keep it up👍👍😀 For information purposes only,I met Alex via An online Japanese model train forum about 12 months ago and now we mail almost daily,he s a true train nut and his stories are unbelievable,I could listen to you all day mate👍👍😀Paul
That must’ve been amazing to be at the 1968 open day! :) It must’ve made all the more special seeing Bahamas return on their 50th Anniversary open day! :)
@@RailView_YT In 1968 ,steam had just finished on BR and on 1 June I had travelled behind Oliver Cromwell on a Scottish Grand Tour to Sheffield.I was on my first visit to London and the Tyseley open day was on the Sunday of the weekend,so I booked up and went as much to see Flying Scotsman as anything else! A few years later I revisited Tyseley on an ill-fated Sottish Grand tour.It was an ordinary Saturday but among the engines there on that occasion were 30925Cheltenham, 30120 and L&Y 1008, on loan from the NRM but 30925 at least had previously been at Dinting
Excellent paint work on 45596,Although double chimneys did not suit the Jubilees.I am not sure that the burnished wheel rims add to the effect. They would not have looked like this on being out shopped at Crewe in Brunswick Green. They would have been burnished when built and in LMS Crimson Lake. But she ,for sure looks stunning.
45596 - yet another beauty, immaculately turned out, lovely camera work as usual!
Thanks Paddy! :) Bahamas certainly does look immaculate, can't wait to see her on the mainline :)
