when you're playing RLK in 16th notes are you basically just not playing the "a" if you were to put the beat to a metronome? meaning are you playing "R" on the click and just not playing the "a?" thanks!
No, I'm still playing the "a". See 7:25. The sticking there is three notes long ("RLK"), but the rhythm is solid 16ths. So, in that example you play one bar: 1e+a 2e+a 3e+a 4e+a as RLKR LKRL KRLK RLRL - we switch to RLRL on 4e+a in that case to make it flow smoothly back onto beat one (see also here: ua-cam.com/video/715U9rVrFhU/v-deo.html).
