A very sweet boat. I made the hardware for her years ago, and I am so glad she has found a loving owner. I was tempted to buy myself, but the distance was pretty daunting (and I do have a pretty satisfactory boat already). I hope there are more videos to come of her sailing free. Thank you Brian for putting this out there for the world to enjoy.
Very interesting. Great insight into replica construction. I had the privilege to work on a 6 metre reconstruction when I was a teen, Hillhead, Hampshire on the Solent. Beautiful line.
Ah yes. A Capt. Nathaniel G. Herreshoff design from a NGH half model, built at Herreshoff's yard in Bristol, Rhode Island in the 1890's. The advantage of designing from a half (or whole) model is that your fingers feel the shape, not just your eyes.
The International Yacht Restoration School of Newport Rhode Island just completed an almost exact replica from N.G. Herreshoff's original plans, it is for sale here: www.iyrs.edu/about/boats-for-sale/herreshoff-wee-winn
It looks like it's on a non-invasive removable bracket, which I would guess is taken off when appropriate i.e. at shows or for racing. He's not a young man, and I don't blame him for adding a bit of safety/back-up for himself, and to keep this lovely antique off the rocks should things go wrong.

Bravo! I noticed the lovely hanging knees. Bronze? Nice work. :)
Hi Chris, I think the hanging knees are made of wood. Very difficult to make, very heavy and much stronger than needed if bronze.

Beautiful boat
What a lovely boat, owner, and name! My mother's name is Winifred. You've warmed my heart, for sure. Many thanks for another fine video.

hi very very nice boat and from bob it's a 10/12 in derby uk
I wouldn't want to accidentally jibe that mainsail. Looks like that would pull the mast right out of the keel! BEAUTIFUL boat.

It's a replica, someone made it recently!
Wish he would take the outboard off. I would think it would sail better.
Pronounced “hair-is-soff”. 😀
Well, he MIGHT be enjoying it but his face tells a different story!!! Not for me in my 70's I'm afraid!!
You put an outboard engine on a Herreshoff . Unforgivable 👎
I struggled with that too
