The popularity of stickered speedcubes and twisty puzzles have decreased dramatically in recent years since becoming legal in official World Cube Association sanctioned competitions. So, are there any reasons to still buy a stickered cube in 2023?

I loved stickered cubes because of how you could customise the colours and you could get larger stickers to make smaller 'bezels' which looked fire, but stickerless has grown on me immensely.

I have no problem with stickerless cubes being popular but I really hate that lots of new releases do not have a stickered variant. as someone with a vision impairment, I often have troubles telling apart white and yellow on almost every stickerless cube. and to just speedcube properly i need to have a stickered cube to change shades to a darker yellow or something. because of this, unfortunately I can’t even use most of the newer speedcubes because they only come in stickerless.
Sorry to hear that! It might not be a perfect solution but you may consider full fitted stickers applied to a stickerless puzzle?

It simple. I got very tired of replacing worn out stickers. So much so, that I now feel a tinge of disgust when seeing a stickered cube. The memory of worn out stickers and having to replace them just makes them seem dirty. ~~~ That said, the ability to have custom color combinations was the one cool thing about stickers. If only we could have that feature without having to deal with them wearing out. In particular, I would like color combinations that work well under low light or under the amber yellow of a bug light that makes yellow pieces seem white.
You can! Our pvc coating exoshield overlays Are applied above the stickers and make them completely resistant to chilling or peeling! 👍
Stickered puzzles were standard when I started cubing (2015), and your biggest choice was between black plastic and white plastic. I remember switching to stickerless enthusiastically when they became commonplace. Now I'm starting to miss stickered puzzles. It's probably just nostalgia, but I feel like we lost something with the switch. I still prefer stickerless on big cubes, though, since your fingers have more opportunities to accidentally peel stickers.
I love both. If I like a cube, I will purchase both variants when available. I love the customization color options. Also the light green stickered variant of the Dayan ZhanChi Pro M, was unlike any stickers I’ve ever felt before on a puzzle. They were a soft rubbery texture, like silicone. Another reason I like stickered cubes is for the nostalgia.
Those silicone stickers are AMAZING 🎉
The last world record on 3x3 by a stickered puzzle champ 🏆 was the GAN XS of FZ. The last king of stickered.
Funnily enough, yesterday I stickered an RS3M. The right shades on a stickered cube almost always look superior to me. Great video!

In my case, stickered cubes are very nostalgic and even have lots of customization options which is really helpful to change shades and stuff

I love how stickered cubes look but I would choose a stickerless cube over stickered any day. I feel that I turn better on stickerless because I don't have to worry about peeling or damaging the stickers
This video is probably great for showing curious non-cubers! However, with all the cubing terminology, maybe adding subtitles would be beneficial? I think that'd be pretty cool

Stickered puzzles just look so regal IMO. The vast majority of my 200+ puzzles are stickered! I typically only choose stickerless when stickers aren't an option. Nice history in this vid.

I would cube mainly for fun. I never intended to be anywhere close to top speed so aesthetic for a cube was more important than performance for me. I hate the look of stickerless cubes and am so sad I can't find any nice sticker cubes now that I lost a bunch of my old ones.

I use sticker less because they look cooler, I don't feel anything physically like I do stickers and tiles, and maintenance for stickers i just don't wanna deal with
Lets admit it, most of us started cubing to impress friends and people who are mostly non-cubers. They are all used to seeing the stickered “Rubik’s” cubes. So even if you show them a $50 GAN, they think it’s a cheap knockoff if it’s stickerless. Non-cubers do not understand stickerless cubes.

you have metallic stickers in color chrome gold silver red blue purple copper but i really like to see metallic stickers that we can aplay to various megaminxes or any minx brand you have like rose gold or metallic brown which replaces beige , bright metallic blue , bright metallic green , when you can do all these 12 metallic colors for a megaminx i want to be your first customer who buys them
It pisses me off that cubes don't even come out with a stickered variant anymore. I have to pray that that the shades they come in stickerless are of my liking. The whole customizability goes out the window with stickerless. There used to be youtubers with their own shades of stickers which were WAY better than stock, even now that case remains. I just want a decent cube which i can sticker man. Agh
I personally greatly prefer the look of stickered puzzles, but all of my main speed cubes have become stickerless. The amount of wear and tear on stickers just makes it annoying to deal with. But whenever I buy a non-WCA puzzle, I get it stickered when the option is there.
I’m in the same boat! I still enjoy having a unique color scheme but stickerless cubes are so much more popular and accessible now.
I used the stickered RS3M 2020 for quite a while and it is amazing after a bit of setup (it has a very clicky feeling, but still good cornercutting)

It was so frustrating how long it took cube companies to put decent sticker shades on cubes, but was fun to customize my cube and experiment with different shades. Crazy how stickerless cubes used to look and feel weird to me and now stickered cubes look and feel weird to me.

Call me crazy but I think that the small bits of wear and tear on a stickered cube look cool, they show the dedication and time that’s been spent on that cube, plus imo you get your own customizable grip on each tile lol
I quite like stickered cubes too, but mostly for their customizability. I haven't thought of chipped stickers as being attractive but I can see the 'appeel' (get it?). 😅
I wish my base white cube with bright stickers was built with modern designs!

I use an Unstickered and a Stickerless variant of the same cube to make a Tutorial/Training Cube.
You know, like those Monster Go Cubes that only have the Cross or First Layer with colored pieces while the rest is black.

As a casual cuber, I would buy the newer cubes in stickered form. Idk if it's nostalgia, but I majorly prefer the stickered cubes.
i like stickered cubes, because they look much better, and with stickerless cubes you get scratches easily. But my main is a stickerless cube, because it only comes in stickerless (tornado v3)
I use stickered cubed because i'm colourblind and often i struggle to differentiate the colours on stickerless cubes. wish cube makers would make a custom plastic colour service

I like the stickerless cubes for their lack of stickers to peel, but I also like the aesthetic of stickered cubes. As such, I like the colored tiles. Functionally, I don't think I'd have any difference between them. I'd probably still check the corners from the outside. That being said, I'm not a speed cuber. I can't even solve past the top layer without a cheat sheet.
I have 17 cubes and all of them are stickerless. I really like that smooth look of stickerless cubes. I wouldn't buy some cubes if they were only stickered. Also QiYi Clover Cube Plus stickerless version has colored inside pieces so it gives this puzzle another stage in comparasment with stickered version.

Stickered looks so much better, but overtime you have to worry about buying new stickers as well as the wearing of the stickers.
As a colorblind cuber, I am absolutely resenting the death of stickered cubes in today's flagships.
I love my weilong v9 so much except for when I literally can't see a difference between green and orange :'( being limited to only cubes from before the current superior meta really really sucks

I hate stickers lol especially logo stickers they become browned around the edges to fast
Proper storage and clean hands before solving helps with that!
I use a stickered mgc elite 2×2 it seems to break less for me

I based it off 1 Cosmic stickered mgc elite that lasted 3 months before the corner broke.
Usually one of the corners break every 2-3 weeks
If I see someone using stickered big cubes I'll just immediately assume that they're some kind of masochist or something. I still use stickered Gan X because I just prefer it and I don't mind using stickered 2x2 and 3x3. But above that? Nah bruh.
I don’t mind it! I find the stickers are harder to damage on bigger cubes since you do not turn as fast as a 3x3 and they are further “inside” the cube.
