Loved watching this one again. Oz is one of my favourite players and to be honest he is the only one I never get tired of listening to at all even for a few weeks. A fantastic and truly unique player.
I just discovered Oz Not in the last 6 months or so and have been enjoying his music immensely as it is so different and dissonant. Looked on his website and saw he was playing at a local venue last night (Jammin'. Java) in Vienna, VA. Had to go see him. Really great show.
Great vid. A teacher explained altered Dom7 chords and corresponding dim sub scales to me long ago, but it took forever to find a way to use them. Sco gave me the first example, and Oz is like a book of these "half notes." I love the way he drops in and out of altered 7ths.
Great video, thanks. Yes, play from the heart, not the head. Ironically, as Oz points out, the way to free yourself up to play from the heart, is to have the head stuff, the scales & chords all over the neck, have them down so you can play them inside out and upside down, so you don't need to think about them.
He is one of first players that rubbed off on getting me out of the diatonic monotony. And how to use diminished and half diminished scale tones over basic grooves.
I love Oz but I would like to see him to play with some players who take it out with .. there could be room for two players it’s always just Oz going out while the rest of the band hold it down and not go out.. but this was awesome Tim’s great too To see two players of this caliber teach like this is really a privilege to be able to see for free
Hey tim, I was wondering.. Do you like Jan Akkerman?? I really love his song Streetwalker.. I heard that BB King was a fan of his work... Nonetheless .. Great job with the video!!
...cool gutter jazz blues space rock vibe... ... ... ******* ...like a winding comet through the solar system in the key of an expanding universe or something style...
Music has to have feel - if you can't connect your emotions to what is being played you tend to drag out the cerebral approach which bores everyone! Steely Dan for me combine good feel with the expanded vocabulary of music!
I too would rather try and make an easy vamp sound complex through my note choice while soloing rather than being more or less constrained by a more complex chordal structure. but that's just me... and Oz... and Tim.
thank you!!!! I want to buy a blackstar 150 ic please make video , I have a michael kelly les paul with metal flames it kills epiphone les pauls and low end gibsons les pauls-Sgs plus I have a modified 70s strat squire both dreamlike guitars but can you suggest an amp $500 or less to gig out with =they will mike it etc in case you dislike the blackstar, People listen to you. Plus Im almost pro I am on the threshold I need to learn more chord-riff lines and melodic solos- How about a course on how to be a studio guitarist-how to get hired by bands that pay=how to rise over the lazy guitar players, i practice three hours a day plus work 48 hours a week. help s.o.s.I do impress non guitar players but i am smoke and mirrors I want to be a real player. I know theory and have some feel!!!! I need mojo . How about mojo lessons or chord over chords tricks with a looper etc P Many people listen to you! I do= please advise on gear! Maybe a $500 amp comparative =please I want the blackstar 150 but can you suggest a better amp for the price, thank you,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, I love to play different genres so I can play in an alpha band and earn estra money then a solo project to blast out my skills and creative side

Thanks Tim! I took a lesson with Oz last time I was in LA - he was there playing with weckl. I got a lot from him.
Oz Noy, what a fantastic player, his knowledge of the neck is amazing.

Such a beautiful and fun dialog, both spoken and played

I saw that Truefire video with Oz also, where he would take a scale and then just move it a half step to add tension. Great stuff.
there are a few videos of his classes on Truefire. can you tell me which one you watched?
Tim It would be so nice to get Nir Felder. Such s different approach

Ariel Posen is crazy good as well.

One of the nastiest guitar players around. Oz kills!
It's as if The Wizard IS Oz
This jam is very reminiscent of Steve Hillage.

Started with a little Henry Kaiser, only with talent...
0z is a bad man : P
"I don't like brainy stuff". Says the man who fuses Jazz & Blues and makes trad Blues guys upset with his innovative, brain-twitching style.

Oz Noy is a wonderful musician, but I loath the sound of ring modulation. Yuk!
What a bunch of fucking noise in the beginning.
