Thank you for uploading this very interesting. My takeaway from this is that cars have gotten larger and with all the technological gains are only two seconds faster 0 to 60
This was boring I mean Noel Edmunds What was he most famous for Umm Mr Blobby As for Janet well blue Peter The simple fact is that this program is just factual and as boring as watching paint dry Where as the 3 guys who some people call adolescent well those 3 guys entertain This show well you could buy any car magazines
At the 95 earls court show I was 10 there was a bear of a guy who was trying to check the boot on one of these. Literally shaking the thing on its mountings. I came along popped the handle and up it came. My dad says he made a swift exit. However tables were turned on me at the 97 or 98 show with a 156 i was looking at it admiring the styling standing near the rear door and a know all guy came along and said heres the doorhandle like I didnt understand. I was devestated cos I knew about it being in the c pillar from all my what car reading. Anyway my fave car to sit in for podium appeal was a C70 at the kent country fair in 98. In that orange it was just amazing, felt so nice inside too.
When cars were great looking all brands and models were different not like todays cars all coppying each other so much, such as mercedes used to have different models that looked different from each other but today all look the same, and same for other cars makes and models, also all have cheap quality materials and crap techy stuff.
It's so strange watching car presenters review cars that have mainly come and gone now! Imagine if you could go back in time to 1990 with today's car designs like a time machine, I wonder how the majority of today's cars would look at the show in 1990 and whether the designs would be loved or hated, esp the tech??
Love watching all these old shows. I was only 4 years old when this came out. Cars were much better then
I was there! Over 30 years ago. How time flies
Me too, still got the brochure pack for the NSX!
Noel's driving was incredible in the Mini.
Wow...I almost forgot I did this show at the NEC, happy days working for Cowley show bay. Still got a few photos somewhere.
I used to record these episodes on to VHS. I used to watch this episode quite a lot, the Lotus Carlton being the big favourite 😜.
24:50 Honda NSX and Janet Ellis - name an iconic duo
Jesus the roll on that discovery 😂

That 3000gt - stunning car with specs from the future!
5:42 a vauxhall nova at £6,200! i wish, some are quadrople that now or just a rare sight.
Lotus carlton what a machine
Never thought of it like edmunds says “nearly double the bhp of a sierra cosworth”
I do love the Lotus Carlton but I was sadly more interested in the Astra GL behind it. 34:21
@29:33.....it’s not the stig.its the stigs 1990 cousin
The stig was 15/16 back in 1990, still at school but still likely a shit hot driver even then. 😉 😂
From an era when Top gear was about CARS & not 3 adolescent wallies
But this was factual television. Not entertainment. You can’t compare the two despite the name being the same..

@@grahamkeeton6643 I guess you’ll be watching Die hard on Xmas day while normal folk will be watching Scrooge 👍
Somebody had to say it.
Top Gear was the most successful programme EVER on the BBC
Showroom Previa is SICK

When cars were a big thing..
janet ellis is fit
Was. This was 34 years ago.
They should make the Previa again. It did everything well and it could shift if you were late for your flight too.
It really has a timeless look for a people mover compared to the VW Transporter of the time
Cheers for the upload, a shame that helium-voiced Ellis is in place of lovely Michele Newman
Ellis is hot💋
They both are proper posho fillthbuckets.
20:26 this feels like an advert
I believe the AX 201 run to Edinburgh was achieved in top gear all the way.
Thanks for the upload!
No problem!
20:21 - it never did catch-on.
Those old Volvo's!!! Everyone thought they were really safe! 🤣
For the time you crash in an e30 3 series or a sierra vs one of those colvo saloons you are only walking away in one.
They were, what makes you think they weren’t?
its a shame about the poor sound, but a good video all the same, thanks.
VW making claims for environment cleanliness with the new polo, where did we hear that some time later? 😂😂
Do you have any 1988 Motorshow coverage?
Afraid not...sorry!
ua-cam.com/video/Tu0vPXprDwQ/v-deo.html here you go!
Not a jezza in sight, phew!
You prefer weird beard noel then? Goffey is good but edmonds is clearly a lizard. Looks the same today as then.
Edmonds.

Edmonds the lizard is a time traveller doing this looking identical to 2020s
The 1990 motor show were beards were all the fashion,2020”wait a minute hold my razor.
Weird beard edmonds does not change
Goffey had so much more class than that lizard man edmonds. Sartorial elegance personified.
7 years before tony blairs chislam.
in hindsight, these are one big advertisement for the motor industry on the, non commercial 'ad free' tax payers BBC. Hmmmm.
Now way there was a yugo at a car show
Yes there was. Almost all manufacturers on the UK market exhibited cars there.
