    After many attempts at sanding contacts over and over which I saw on other videos I tried this with a very skeptical mind. I mean a lighter….really? That was a month ago and my dryer has worked flawlessly ever since. I went through my history because I just had to do the right thing and give credit to the maker of this video. You sir, are a legend! Many thanks. Liked, subscribed, everything. If anyone is in the fence about doing this…. It definitely worked for me. If your dryer isn’t working…. what really do you have to lose? Now my wife and kids look at me as a a mechanical genius. A god among mere mortals who must call repair men. You too can share the glory all you need is a lighter!

    wonderful. I've been using a short piece of heat shrink on the contact end to take up the "slop" but heating and bending accomplishes the same thing even more cleanly. Thanks!

    Damn I was losing my mind over my unit. Then I stumbled across this video and am like what the hell are the chances, i've checked absolutely everything, multimeter says everything is good, go to terminal A and C on the timer and boom multimeter is dead. Open it up, looks good, is slightly touching but just wasn't enough even after a little sanding. Pushed it towards the other contact a little bit and back in business.
    Appreciate the video, probably have saved alot of us money when we couldn't figure out what the hell could be wrong.

    Really great information. Make sure you watch all the way to the end. There is key info, that you'll probably need if this is your first time doing this repair. Thank you. I don't have $80 to change out the timer. I first replaced had to replace the thermal fuse and switch the tripped breaker back on. Then I heard what I believe is arcing coming from the timer. My Kenmore series 500 will only turn on sometimes and usually only on low, air or sensing. Then it shuts off quickly. This is my next venture. I'll update soon

    I have the same dryer that I bought used. I get heat but no low heat on timed or Auto. The A contact is so far from the B when it gets to that setting it backs off the A. So the closed circuit is C-B-H. 🙄

    I have everything down, got it all good ok?. My million dollar question is, how/where do you clock/sync the position of the very lower white gear that sits below the shaft that the smaller of the two motor pinion gears turn??? It has one little notch on the outside.. is there a position it needs to be synchronized to in order for the unit to function properly??? You can see the gear at 14:23 in the video.. do you see the little notch on the outside almost center wear the smaller pinion gear comes through the black casing & drives the gear I’m referring to..?????
    Thanks amigo!👊🏽🕊️

    • @joshcobb4100
      @joshcobb4100  5 місяців тому +1

      That is irrelevant, the teeth on the inside of that gear are what drive it. If you are not getting the correct function after putting it back together, it's probably one of the arms not seated correctly. Use a small screw driver or pick to carefully pull each arm out far enough to ensure they are on their correct track. This took some time for me to figure out, but it'll turn smooth once it's seated correctly. Hope that helps my friend!

    the contact pads on mine were blown off so bad I had to shim the farthest contact with a piece of plastic to get it to actually make the connection. Of course this was after I replaced the element, fuses and thermostat needlessly.

    So, I did this and worked but now the dryer doesn’t turn off when it has to. It’s on constantly until we open the door. Any tips on how to fix that?

    • @joshcobb4100
      @joshcobb4100  Рік тому +1

      One of the pins is not set correctly against the timer dial. Once you think you have everything perfectly in place I like to take a very skinny long pair of tweezers and gently pull back each contact from the timer wheel to ensure it is properly seated on its channel. Most often than not one of them will be off and gently lifting it up and setting it back corrects this.

    I have a timer like that for a Whirlpool dryer (230 VA). The knob is broken and it sweeps, then I have to rotate the center pin with a plier. Then how can I identify which is the start position or zero position of the knob? I mean the start position of the central pin since the knob is broken. Thanks for any help

    Hi question please. When we replaced the timer the element cycles on and off. BUT there is continuous heat in the drum and the clothes are drying. ???
    Please reply back soon. Thank you.

    Question! Is the timer similar on an insignia dryer ? I’m having trouble with the dryer not heating properly..the whirlpool you fixed is very similar to my Insignia dryer I have.

    Josh - thanks so much for this video. I was honestly more excited about finding this video than anything else I've ever thought of looking up! I followed your instructions, and managed to bend the arm enough to consistently have the heating element switch on in every cycle. But, after reassembling everything, I found out that now the drum won't stop rotating at the end of the cycles, when the timer gets to the "off" positions. I'm hopeful I can figure out what went wrong, but do you have any advice? I don't understand which contacts to look out for.

    • @joshcobb4100
      @joshcobb4100  Рік тому +1

      I think it’s the ones directly below the 3 you would have worked on. Might double check you have that spring arm back in place correctly and that it disconnects those contacts when we rotated versus having them jam together the whole time.

      Ok thanks!! I wasn't sure if they had a replacement for the arm that makes the contact or if you had an ideal thanks it's cheaper just to buy a used dryer 🤣
