Hi Jacquie! It's because of your Craftsy class that I fell in love with straight lines!! The last quilt I made, I quilted with almost entirely straight lines. It looks so cool!! Thanks for all that you teach us!!

Really enjoyed your tutorial! Reference of using painters tape simply as a guidance for quilting your gentle curvy lines or wavy lines. Also the grid lines and markings for orange peel using the "S" curve. Thank you for your endless possibilities!

These techniques all look really easy to do on a small sample, but when you're wrestling an entire quite, it another story. Also working on plain black fabric where the markings are easy to make and to see makes a huge difference.

Missouri Star and Modern Quilt Studio both have UA-cam videos with very large lap quilts using this kind of pattern. Both quilts are something like 50x70 in.

+ newbeequilter - Hi Jacquie. I just watched this again and heard you say, "Where you look is where you quilt"; it's like aiming a gun at the target, isn't it? What a great tip for quilting and a wonderful principal for success in one's life. I'm so glad I watched this video a second time.

Had to order a walking foot for my singer 301 but I will definitely be doing this. My husqvarna 6440, another vintage machine, has a walking foot but it doesn’t have a hole for that fabric guide so this more random pattern is perfect. The only thing is that machine is frozen up and needs me to go in and melt the old lubricant and put oil on there. It’ll sew straight but the stitches aren’t the best.

Love this technique. If I don't quilt off on the batting, would I just backstitch when I get to the border, or do I need to tie off?

Should you always start in the center of the quilt??? What about the stitch length?? I have been paying someone to do my quilting and it's just too expensive for me, since I am a Senior and my only income is SS check. My domestic machine is a Brother Innov-'s QC1000 so I am hoping this machine will work. Thank you and I enjoyed the video.

These people sell them reply to the comments. Depending on how thick your batting is it could be anywhere from a 2.5 or 3.0 mm stitch length

I find with a walking foot (on my Janome), the feed dogs are up because they work with the walking foot to move the fabric. (I leave them up when I'm doing free-motion, also.) Hope this helps!
