"He is not my friend, he is my brother. And he is an idiot."
"... I'm just feeding the birds."
Implicit line from that boy: "You sure that's your bro? He's white! Irrelevant."
She was an awesome character in the series. Great motivation, great background, and a pretty well-written character. She is a top 3 character for me, tbh.
And let's also say the actress.... In every project she is in she SLAYS! She is extremely talented!
She is black. Next.
I always remember when he sister says "I like for them to see a smiling face when it's time to go."
She played Death PERFECTLY.
And to think people thought she would be a horrible death.
Yeah, she killed it.
she touched dream.
put a hand on his leg.
i'd have to go back and check, but i'm pretty sure she never touches anybody in the entire series except for when it's time.
other than that, her skin is darker than i would like.
but so is Dream's.
i can't get over dream being all flesh colored w normal eyes.
instead of all white with black holes for eyes.
couldn't they have at least put some makeup on him to make his skin SLIGHTLY whiter?
also taller. i woulda preferred they cast a taller actor.
so between the two, Death is much better cast.
He’s being such a little brother in this scene
There are so many personifications of death but out of them all I think this version fits death the best an old friend that we see at the start that over time is lost to the back of your head but when you meet again at your end she greets you with a smile and a warm smile and caring hand to help guide you to that next place honestly just perfect
iirc Gaiman said his depiction of Death is just what he'd like to meet when his time comes. The same was true for Pratchett's Death in Discworld.
The Way she Yells at him and he's just gawking, it's like a Child being told off by his mother
Worse... being told off by your big sister.
this episode was something else.
It gives that thrill of joy and sadness that only Neil Gaiman can give. It really was an incredible adaptation of Sandman.
This was definitely one of my favorite moments in SANDMAN
One of the greatest episodes of TV ever! 🔥🔥🔥
I totally agree. When she said to the baby who died in her crib something like: "Sorry, this is all you're getting" Me: 😭😭😭😭😭😭 It deserves an Emmy ❤
IKR!
one of the greatest single comic issues ever.
sandman MIGHT might make my top ten all time comics, might not, but the issue this episode was based on makes my top ten single issues.
R.I.P. Franklin. 😢
Soon 😅
Everything about this show was fantastic, i hope if theres a death it is as kind and welcoming as she was, the concept of her offering a friendly smile at the end of ones life is beautiful
The Sandman is the best show of 2022 in my opinion . And one of the best DC shows ever made 👏👏👏 .
Death is just so insanely above her siblings that rules imposed on them are not applicable to her. She is so overpowered her siblings know better that to mess with her. She is stronger than Destiny, her older brother and is only slightly weaker than their parents Father Time and Mother Night.
All this and she's still so kind and compassionate... An amazing character.
I do like this more chipper version of Death. Every other personification I’ve seen, it’s like this grim, no-nonsense scary looking guy and here’s this cute girl with a kind disposition.
I recommend looking up the Discworld series. Death in that is weirdly comforting despite looking the stereotypical grim reaper.
Check out the film version of Hogfather...
this actor's acting is awesome 👍 , appreciate 👏
My man over here trying to rizz up Death. 😂
Can you blame him?
Its his sister...
@@rahulagarwal3940 He wasn't referring to Dream.
I would have, too, even if I knew she was death. I would have tried my BEST to get her to just go on one date with me.
@@Xerion1oh she will, dont worry, lol
Loved her portrayal of Death & the way she worked to collect the departed.
The bit I love in this wee scene is when the little girl scampers through the pigeons - Dream just *glares* at her, whilst Death just grins. I love that. It's such a nice wee moment.
This was the scene that got me into Sandman. I just regret she didn’t bounce the loaf off his head the way she did in the comic.
This show was incredible
This is my favourite episode of this series
3:00 Death may or may not be colleagues/work friends with Pratchett's DEATH.
They've unionized. Marvel's Death and the one from Suoernatural are already on board.
God when are we getting a second season of this??? It was so ridiculously good
2025
Dead Boy Detectives is a fun watch in the meanwhile! Part of the same universe as well
I really recommend watching the DC showcase: Death, for more adaptations of this version of Death
No Franklin thats not what she meant!
get OUT OF THERE
lol
But look at both sides before crossing.
Doesn't matter where he goes, when his time comes, she'll be there.
Poor Franklin.
Such a good episode
Masterpiece of video
Best episode of the series
I was so enamoured of the comic version of Death when it was first released, I was perhaps for the first time bothered by "re-imagining" of a character. but this actress knocked it out of the park. not as in love with Death as Thanos (comic book version), but admiring the work. wish I could have seen more- at least the graphic novel adapted...
There’s also an audio version of The Sandman.
I literally just realized that, at least in the comic, Dream was imprisoned for 80 years… of COURSE he hasn’t seen Mary Poppins!
Shouldn't be too hard for him to conjure up a Blu-Ray or DVD player, or a VCR.
I love this scene I really love this show how deep they go into the god background and story of that I really enjoyed it I can’t wait for season 2
Great show!!!
Excelent scene magnific ❤🔥
This and the Dinner episode were top tier TV. It's been a long time since a TV show made me care and feel so much. Maybe since GoT.
In my mind, I always pictured Amy Lee, from Evanescence as the perfect person to play Death, but hats off to Kirby Howell-Baptiste for truly rocking the role so well!
OK 0:22
3:25 good reflex 😲
Waiting for season two 🔥
This show was so good. A second season will definitely entice me into subscribing to Netflix again.
I really want to see Destiny and Destruction. Please Season 2
This series isn't perfect but they absolutely nailed the casting for nearly every character. Stephen Fry, John Cameron Mitchell, Gwendoline Christie, Patton Oswalt and Kirby Howell-Baptiste all nailed.
Can’t wait for season 2
In the comic she beans the loaf of bread off his head.
Dc💙
Love dc i hope like and make movie batman hush 2 animation
Oh Franklin...
Is this the same location as in After Life, where Lisa was buried 😢😢
❤❤❤
Bar for bar
✌️
live action sandman tv show release date in 2024 today now yes 🤩🤩🤩🤩
🎉🎉🎉🎉
Are they going to make any more
Season 2 2025
Franklin: The worst that can happen is she will say 'no'.
Wouldn't that make him immortal? Therefore the best thing that can happen?
Didnt she play death in the Netflix series Death boy detective as well..
She did! Part of the same universe actually!
Kirby Howell-Baptiste was great as Death, but honestly, I couldn't get into this adaptation "The Sound of her wing".
This is very subjective but:
The story never felt to me like Death trying to cheer up Dream on purpose., it was about Dream following Death on her job, and seeing how she conducts her purpose, he regains his.
And the poem is at the center of it and is one of my favorite moments of the whole series.
And all of that feels missing for this.
I will however admit that Hobbs story felt like an improvement over the source.
When will season 2 come ❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉
2025
You cold,,allright yaap,,??,
Drop s2 please 😢😢
2025
Dumb question: Why didn't Death come for Rodrick Burgess when he hit his head? She would have seen Dream and he would have seen her.
Death was there. It is Dream that did not contact her because he was too stubborn to ask for help.
Death is simultaneously everywhere someone dies, but can choose whether to be seen or not by others. And she knew that Dream would be too stubborn to ask for her help. Also the Endless do have limitations in where and how they can intervene in the mortal world. Dream was captured under the existing rules, like it happened to his fiancè Calliope, the muse (also seen in the series, where she tries to ask for the Furies to intervene, but they cannot exactly because Calliope was trapped according to the ancient rules)
I so wanted this show to be GREAT, but all in all they have killed via dramacide.
Dkssbwj
Dudjenw
I never did get to watch this show, but that girl is hott!!
This Sandman so ilke serie the Netflix this different Constantine
They turned Constantine into a woman? Wow! Happy this one bit it.
What are you talking about? Johanna Constantine is in the comics and they just announced Season 2.
The show could have been PERFECT. But then they have to go and mess up the characters like this.
Mess up how, exactly?
DC has become completely dead. There’s nothing to look forward to anymore with all new shows getting cancelled
Why did the producer of this show bother to cast an accurate Morpheus but not an accurate death or John Constantine? Was it to because they were more focused on checking off their diversity quotas?!
Username checks out
🤡
Do the casting choices vex you? Good. 😂
Well the actors did a brilliant job so they definitely did something right
You know they couldn’t use John because of the plans for a live action Justice League Dark adaptation right?
Such a fantastic scene - in the comic, in the audiobook, in the series. 🤌🏾💙
