That is corruption in plain sight, agreements with council to park anywhere around the station and surrounding roads is a absolute piss take so they could have as many cars as they can buy with our money leave them 24/7 on the road while local residents have to pay for permits then park down the road as there is no free spaces by their house I bet that builds bridges with locals especially if they get a ticket as they could not park in a marked (full) bay, double yellow parking is for an emergency call only where no other close parking is available it’s a massive piss take to think it’s ok to do it when we get fined/punished for the same thing great example to set

I have a mate here in New Zealand PTTP who is a parking warden, he started on $48,000 (25,000 pound) yearly, was supplied $2000 of clothing when started, and he HAS issued an infringement to a Policewoman who was parked on Yellows while getting her Kebab, she was not on a call, and although she tried to get him to not issue it, he did, and stated that unless her Kebab made a call for service, then she can challenge the ticket in court, just like ANYONE else, he is a fair man, and holds no bias, we all bleed red, regardless of what we are wearing. cheers PTTP.

And as we know that is a description of the police imo. Years ago when I was 16 I was arrested by police with guns. Turns out that there was a government exchange scheme for young people in Norther Ireland to come to England to work for 6 months. I and some of my school friends worked in Woolworths on a Saturday when we were 14 and one of these girls from NI was working in that store. She said her purse was stolen so I arranged a collection for her and replaced what she lost. When she went home she took my address to write to me. I never heard from her and I a forgot all about her until the police arrested me when I was 16. It happened that she and her sister had blown themselves up making bombs in their house. In the ashes of the house the police found an address book and one of the remaining pages had my name and address on it. Obviously I cleared the matter up very quickly and this plain clothes officer was asked to drive me home. A fat bearded man of about 50 who was wearing a wedding ring. He actually stopped the car put his arm around me and tried to kiss me. I jumped out of the car and ran off. I had the utmost respect for police until that drive home and it has got steadily worse since then. Culminating in Cousin and Carrick type cops! Police are now the last people I could ever trust!

You are quite right, The College of Policing states: The Parking of Police Vehicles on a Road
Care and attention to parking restrictions should be observed and complied with. There will be exceptions where parking a police vehicle contrary to parking regulations or restrictions is required and necessary to deal with incidents, including scenes of collisions. And when asking those parking inforcement officers: There can be no legitimate excuse for ignoring restrictions unless it can be justified. Inconsiderate or illegal parking of police vehicles may result in negative press reporting and may adversely affect public perceptions. Where an officer or staff member receives notice of enforcement for breach of any such regulation or restriction, they must take personal responsibility for the outcome unless they are able to justify their actions. Great audit and good luck with your FoI request from the council.

  • @wolvoman1

Members of the public should start reacting and start parking in exactly the same manner that the police adopt when not on emergency calls.
That would be interesting to see what actions are taken against members of the public that do likewise in no parking areas and double yellow lines.
Imagine attending court after a member of the public parked directly behind/infront of a police vehicle on double yellow lines, yet you get a ticket but they dont.

I was going shopping one day and noticed a police car parked on double yellow lines outside a house. On the other side of the road were at least 20 empty parking bays. I called the police to tell them that the officers needed to move their car immediately. They obviously took no notice so I called again and said I wanted it moved immediately and was told they were taking a statement in the house. A none emergency and where dozens of holiday makers had been ticketed over the summer - I suggested they needed to refund all that ticket money to citizens who had done the same. This time a healthy looking cop came out and moved his car 4 feet into a parking bay. I asked him what he thought he was doing parking on double yellows in front of all the empty spaces. He just ignored me but I got his collar number and reported him. He had no problem walking 4 feet to the house so why did he think he was above the law?

I was issued with an emergency response vehicle which was equipped with emergency beacons on the roof, reflective red and white checked striping around the body of the vehicle and council logos on the doors. If I stopped anywhere without me being in attendance and with those beacons flashing AND obvious signs of a reason for me being there, the council parking boys (and girls) would be all over it.

@Irigouis88 We'll have to agree to disagree on some factors, new is not always best, something needs doing, support for the police is subterranean, employing more personnel to be distrusted is a backstep, winning back the goodwill of the populace will be beneficial to police and the public.
There are specialist units for RTA's and yes care needs taking with arrests ".,duty of care issues".
But we've seen a half dozen cops surrounding one person, (cuffed )for a search, plus constables have the cuffs ,asps ,and tasers, it is like cracking a nut with a sledgehammer to have multiple constables for one person with cuffs, asps, and tasers.
Win back public trust and you'll get our help, and you won't need a dozen constables with 6 cars.

Looks like they are learning lessons, although that contractor needs to be reminded of his position and to stop causing trouble and sticking his nose into business that doesn't concern him; if the police thought you were doing wrong, they would have arrested you and slammed you up so to that contractor...get a life matey and mind your own business Pinocchio, keep your big nose out of business that does not concern you!!!!!

Sorry but you push too hard at times! That stuff about you can't read when they show you their collar numbers. I'm all for auditors testing to see if our right to film in public is being respected but maybe try treating reasonable cops in a way where they don't end up having contempt for all auditors because of petty stuff like this, maybe be content with getting across your main point. Many cops seem fine with PINAC and with auditors testing them on it.

Double yellow lines are there for safety. So no one should be exempt. Even in an emergency they should not park there unless they close the road off.
