Egyptians knew of the country called Punt. They were trading gold, teak, and fragrance. The Land of Punt is best known for Queen Hatshepsut’s famous expedition in 1493 BC in the 18th Dyanasty of Egypt, which brought back living trees to Egypt, marking the first known successful attempt at transplanting foreign fauna. Nonetheless, evidence suggests that the Egyptians were trading with the land of Punt as early as the reign of the pharaoh Khufu in the 4th Dynasty.
Ancient Tamils trade with Egypt
The artifacts found at Korkai have brought to light the ancient port city’s trade relations with Eastern Egypt. Earlier, the excavations unearthed a perforated pipe and a brick structure in chunk-cutting factories in Korkai, hinting at busy industrial activity. The archaeologists of the Department of Archaeology of Tamil Nadu excavating the Korkai site had found two storage jars, one above the other, within a brick structure at a trench in Korkai. The experts had managed to unearth one jar while another had been excavated until its neck portion.
Tamili script found in Egypt
A broken storage jar with inscriptions in Tamil Brahmi script has been excavated at Quseir-al-Qadim, an ancient port with a Roman settlement on the Red Sea coast of Egypt. This Tamil Brahmi script has been dated to the first century BCE. The same inscription is incised twice on the opposite sides of the jar. The inscription reads paanai oRi, that is, pot in a rope net.

And evidence supports it. There is lots of evidence that Tamilandu, Karnakata traded with Egypt and Rome. We just have to be careful with timeline.
