@@kingslayer3365 : Well, it's not really "the past". Even now, a extremely large proportion of protagonists in media are whites, even when it doesn't makes sense (Gods of Egypt). The only thing that change is that we are more self-conscious about it.
@@cypher787 I care and I'm complaining. Why can't white people have their own shit?
Ugh so characters from popular franchises are race swapped because people aren't that interested in the stories of poc? What a lazy way to address this issue. Why can't people just write interesting stories with poc? Instead of race swapping and inserting in popular franchises such as the Witcher? Seems lazy and insulting to me.
That thumbnail is wrong. Fringilla is POC. The books had it wrong when they referred to her as pale.
Lol
I wish Netflix series were made as the real witcher cutscenes. It would be far better than it is now.
The lodge of sorceresses was created by Francesca findabair....its in her wiki.
Black firingilla...
I'm guessing all this was and still is forgotten by the Netflix writers.
Nilfgardian? Nigerian you mean
😂
Bracing myself for the comments on the shows version of Fringilla
Fringilla has almost no games screen time and evil character in the show, poor girl.
Gliamerdergame yeah I thought it was weird they made nilfgaard the like obvious bad guys of the show.
Are you from the UK or the USA, also it would nice to know from with part of the country you are
No guys you dont understand it you disrecpectful haters. Slavery was a thing in the real world.....THEREFORE I am gonna disrespect pre established characters and change their race just to make amends with it....I am such a genious.
(Thats literally what she said)
Lambert, your a Genius...
I just love that they think slavery is just a white people black people thing, Africans got off real easy with their slavery historically speaking
@@harrylong2796 Yep BUT if you say that anywhere mainstream, your gonna get called white loving Nazi Alt-Right fascist bastard....
@@gaunterodimm3569 yeah some whipping and raping would be a fucking holiday for an Assyrian slave
Racechange is justifiable only when it's a creative decision. By that i mean an actor of another race is so good at portraying that character that he/she gets the role anyway. When it's political it's not ok, ever. There's plenty of diversity anyways and when it's forced you can ussually see it. Only instance where race change is almost impossible to justify is in historical movies.
My point is, I'm with you bro.
Who else is here after watching the series?
Amanda Troutman look how they massacred my girl
Mindfreak no need to be racist
@@TheAdventuresofTNT the racist one is the idiot who came up with the orangutan version of Fringilla. Just saying. Racism against white people in their own folklore is racism at its best.
Im a brown asian and i cant imagine geralt sleeping with netflix fringilla for 2 months. Haha. At least get a hotter black actress like the one from game of thrones
Same with Triss man, she so plain looking. Triss is supposed to be a smoking hot babe.
Only true OGs remember when Fringilla was white, that seems like a long time ago now.
The very few times the cultural appropiation term actually really does apply, ironically since the lead writer is a SJW herself.
Sadly thats a thing with american companies infected with SJW avtivists as "writers" these days (and it only happens with them most of the time, its insane, thats why to be sure I wanted a Polish one to do it)
Even good fan fics and that shitty 2000s movie do a better job respectimg the lore and the work of others than a multi million company filled with pointless activisim. Its a disrespect to the character and the work of others.
Why cant they create their own shows intead of screwing up and changing the work of others. Same deal for brown Yennefer and same deal for any character affected by this,I cant wait to see a white black panther. Sadly it only seems to happen and be accepted one way around.
Actual writers would die to have such opportunnity and she takes it to do activisim in the stupidiest of ways shitting on pre established characters to feel better about herself with a logic not even a three year old would have. Come on.

Came here for reasonable comments about how netflix changed the character, but only thing people notice is that they made her black.... great.
Meaning you think those comments aren't reasonable? You realise changing her race affects an entire lineage of people in the Witcher lore?
@@P.Griffin it changes nothing but skin color get the fuck over it
@@cypher787 How does that work? We are repeatedly beat over the head about the implications of race and how the black experience is SO extremely different that it is a GRIEVOUS insult when whitewashing takes place. But then you pop in a black face in a white role and its, "The difference is just skin deep, you racists."
@@P.Griffin She's a cousin (unknown degree) to a character who is a cousin (unknown degree) to an important character. Not only is it easily plausible, this fact is not important in the book and will obviously be never mentionned in the show.
