My son was diagnosed with Schizophrenia at only age 16. It's been so difficult. I really appreciate this movie, and that you shared your perspective. It's nice to get some hopeful stories.
Thank you so much for sharing. We were likely very inspired by Quentin's story, and importantly, the story of Quentin family, their own psychological journey as parents and caregivers, and the critical importance that that support has in Quentin's success.
Hey im on the opposite side im 17 and was diagnosed with schizophrenia at 16 the only reason I was able to get through it was because of my mother even if your son doesnt let you know just know he appreciates your support and you are a good parent
Quentin and his family have done the world a big service by doing this documentary, very brave to put yourself out there, I live with mental illness and I can relate. Like Quentin I am upfront about it and that has made a huge difference in not only others perception of me but in my perception of myself. 💞
Thank you for the video, and thank you for sharing how important, medication, a good medical team, family SUPPORT and friends are in this illness. My grandson would never have the life he has now without all of the same!!! Thank. you for sharing!❤
I am French and brought my son to Shawano WI like Canada. My son has grades high in Chem and Calculus at academy. He takes Rexulti 4mg . We needed this to get us through the hospitals. Bon Soir!
Quentin, who has schizophrenia, is fortunate to have been born into a financially stable family, with parents who can even afford to take a sabbatical from work. But what about those with schizophrenia who come from impoverished backgrounds?
Awesome film, my friend's son in Germany went through a very similar experience, a wonderful young man. He is quite stable now on meds. Never try to conquer schizophrenia without medication.
Living with bipolar disorder feels the same. And we will always be stigmatised. As if someone haven't experience psychosis, will never understand. It's classed as mental health illness, not neurological...like epilepsy. Yet, we bipolar need to take antieptileptic meds to control it.We are being stigmatised for a horrible ilness we never opted in. IT WAS NEVER OUR CHOICE
In my family there is an obvious genetic link regarding mental illness. Grandma & sister (BPD) committed suicide. Every member of my family had/has "something". Then the worst happened: my precious daughter developed schizophrenia after graduating HS w/honors; there was no drug use. Her first delusions were about me where she accused me of things I wasn't doing. The parents in this video are so blessed that their son loves & trusts them - and that he allows them into his life. What I'd give for a hug and I love you, momma....
There are numerous studies that suggest a genetic but not exclusive link of schizophrenia. Having a family history of schizophrenia does not necessarily mean one will develop schizophrenia. Research has not identified one single cause of schizophrenia. It is thought that an interaction between genes and a range of environmental factors may cause schizophrenia. Psychosocial factors may also affect the onset and course of schizophrenia. Heavy use of cannabis is associated with an elevated risk of the disorder. Thank you for sharing your experience. May I ask the medication that is working for you? One of our problems is that my son is allergic to antipsychotics. We have been struggling to find the right match. It’s been a long 4 year struggle. The family and friend support is there.
Feel free to present this video to your medical professional for their assessment. We prefer not to disclose specific treatments as we avoid all elements that may be construed as promotional. A treatment plan should be between the medical specialist, the patient, and in some cases the patient’s care givers.
The best thing is to talk to a psychiatrist (or more). Antipsychotics are the only one that can help. Other things like healthly lifestyle, vitamins or for example CBD Oil, are just support but not helping to remove "positive" symthoms.
I am a man with schizophrenia and the sad reality is that without antipsychotics the symptoms such as hearing voices talking to you and being paranoid tend to only be fixed by medication and it can get progressively worse however if you absolutely cannot get your son to take these medications due to allergies then look at lifestyle changes maybe, going for walks more, going to public settings like parks and getting more comfortable with talking about feelings/symptoms
@@elsaterrell4 has your son tried Cobenfy it is really new & works thru different pathways than all other antipsychotics so it may not create the same allergic reactions
This was a beautiful mini doc. As a person who takes medication it pisses me off when you refill your medication and you get hit with a "ooh sorry we are out of the medication today (Thursday) and we will not have the medicine back in stock until late Monday or early Tuesday." Gee thanks for forcing me to not have my medication for four plus days.

Thank you very Good. Many schizophrenic Humans Are highly Creative in an abstract way like Robert Schumann
Quentin is a great example to help break mental illness stigma. Thank you for watching our film :)
Thank you for this beautiful explanation. I love that there are injections now. You are courageous! ❤❤❤
Schizophrenia runs in the family. His parents don’t look like they have it, but if you look far back enough, someone in the family for sure had it.

Any updates on Quentin? Hope he is well. My son would not stay on his meds consistently and he had bad side effects.
Can I ask how old your son is? My adult daughter does not stay on her medication either. I wish we had an early diagnosis like this family.
Wow couldn’t picture living like that daily forever in a constant state of hallucinations must be exhausting
Thank you For your Story and a very fitting title

How I wish the music didn’t drown out what this family is sharing….couldn’t keep listening 😞
who takes a 8 month sabbatical? who uproots their highschooler for theer own pleasure? wTF parents?????
Maybe toxoplasmosis
The father was obviously jealous. That extra pressure and expectations on this young man was unnecessary
"Worse than drugs". Nah bro, precisely like drugs.
My thoughts exactly
"Nah bro" you're actually sober and experience shit. Way worse than drugs buddy.
