So how the hell do people make money hotshoting lol ...If I'm transporting cars and I bring home 1k after all expenses I'll just keep a regular job lol
Hot shot pays better then semi truck driving so I'm planning on quiting my trucking job and going hot shot I'm tired of being a slave to the super rich ceo of my company
Hey Joey I like videos your very detail about things . I have a question I'm going to start to hotshot hauling cars I have a 2008 Dodge Ram 3500 6.7 can that truck haul 25k pounds ? I've seen Dodge Ram haul more then 30k pounds is there a type of mod that they do ? Or do they push the trucks limit until it breaks ?
Pricing is Everything, if your figuring on 3rds, you can run into trouble, I look at it as Half! so if your target is 4 bucks a mile, you better shoot for 8! PUSH THE MARKET, DONT LET IT PUSH YOU!
Here is the game in my nutshell of understanding, fuel is everything, and rates on fuel go up when the market charges more, so number 1, always charge and ask for more, #2, always improve your fuel economy, and YES, there are many ways to massively do this. #3. Foundations, form a foundation for your company. #4. haul short distances, awesome pay! Good luck my trucking friends! oh, and last thing, watch out for the scammers and always check credit and get paid fast!
That made no sense at all. Taxes come off in the end. Fuel isn't that expensive. Keep receipt and at the end of the year get the $500 accountant. As a bonus roll your money into rental property where you can play with the numbers in such a way you make more money and pay less in taxes.
$1,000 per week, running across the US... Then take out insurance, truck payment, service equipment.... You would be lucky to see min wage rates... OUCH
He is on the right track trying to explain . but he's a little off on his figures. on the taxes your not paying a $1000 on taxes on a $3000 load . maybe around $500. Then he's adding $1000 on fuel your not gonna spend that much on fuel but let's say you put $1000 back on fuel for this load and you only spend $400 in fuel that's $600 you pocket when you come home . he's on the right track of trying to explain it just needs a little more detail.
Travis Williams I'm debating on helping someone get into this business, by assisting with getting the equipment. People say you cannot make money with a 3 car trailer, and will go broke...... I see them running around all the time though.
+Sarah Dell you can make the money but you have to be smart with your money . if you go threw a broker make sure you have a good one do your research and you will do fine. The biggest mistake in this industry I see young drivers make is not trying to find a back haul / back load heading back home. now you can not always find a load back but if you can find something that atleast pays for your fuel cost for the wk you will be in the green. hope this helps.
Travis was right about this. I was using the 3k number because it is the easiest to calculate with the rough calculation method. I want to help. get me some more info on what type of equipment and what area or lane you are looking on running an I will get you a rough number on what you can make in the current market. it Is very important to remember that there is a market that decides what the prices are going to be. The one biggest factor I wanted to remind you about is that is only ONE way. In my scenario you get a thousand going out and a thousand coming back to cover those costs. it is very important to remember that this is a very rough number and that this process gives you a place to start and begin refining what your different percentages are. I look forward to hearing back from ya.im glad you are looking at joining the industry!
+How2Hotshot I would purchase him a used 1 ton, and a 3 car open. Also at first, is it even possible to make money if he stays under 26k to avoid having to get a Cdl? It would be in the Charlotte nc area as home base. Thanks!
Joe your doing an awesome job I understand what you was saying . but you need just a little more detail. keep the videos coming hopefully I can catch you on the road sometime
That doesn't make any sense if 1/3 tax and 1/3 fuel and 1/3 other expenses that leaves $0.00 for you however on a ram 3500 you can get about 14 mpg freeway and for 2800 miles at $2.50 a gallon that's $500 not $1000 and tax you can deduct lots of things and you end up paying way less you should make at least 30% clean
Joe, I have a CDL and i have decided to go into the Hot Shot Business. I live an hour outside of Los Angeles. Can you tell if hauling Cars in my area would be the best option or should i purchase a flatbed?

When rates are higher it's better for the driver rates are at all time high rt now

I think he's "high" on pie. He does realize expenses can be deducted...right?
Don't by a 2000 or up truck buy a 90s or older eld exempt truck it's way cheaper to buy and you can fix things yourself
So 6000 a week is 2000 taxes 52 weeks 104,000.00 in taxes year so wow
