AND SHE EVEN MADE IT IN THE CURSED CHILD. CONGRATS EVERYONE, MCGONAGALL'S IMMORTAL!
Oh wow
😅👌
i mean wizards have been shown living over 130+ years so
Wizards live for much longer. Dumbledore was born in ‘81. By which I mean 1881
It’s not supposed to be Minerva McGonagall - the writers of this mixed up the name. It’s Minerva Ross - her grandmother. It’s not even Bellatrix L’estrange - it’s **Leta** L’estrange (Bellatrix was **Bellatrix Black** her maiden name (before marriage). Her name was changed to L’estrange when she got married - as an adult. This whole video is a mistake. These were different people who lived at different times
Love that they completely forgot that she isn’t supposed to be even be born in Fantastic Beasts. Totally coherent story
It's her great-grandmother, which was also called Minerva
@@simonleonard4084 lmao nope, the McGonagall in Fantastic Beasts is way too young to be her great-grandmother; also Minerva McGonagall's father Robert McGonagall is a Muggle, so great-grandma Minerva, being a witch, cannot have the surname McGonagall
@@theanonymouscommenter3035 that make sense indeed. I've been reading about this a few hours back, that match with your saying. Guess the initial idea comes from a berry bad article somewhere on the internet
witches and wizards have a longer life expectancy than Muggles, usually living two or three times as long; in the new canon she was born 8-9 years after Dumbledore, who was born in 1881
@@theanonymouscommenter3035 Doesn't she have a time turner at this point though?
To clear up stuff:
The second clip isn't fanmade, it's from Fantastic Beasts 3 (nope its 2 sorry for the mistake): The Crimes of Grindelwald
Lestrange is *Leta* Lestrange, not Bella. Bella's name at that time was Bellatrix *Black* , Lestrange is her married name.
And this is Minerva McGonagall after all! Not Minerva Ross. It is very possible that McGonagall was born before 1910.

@@RHTQ1 Yeah I know
We need this kind of comment writters in every comment section 😂to clarify things
Agreed, except one little thing. "Bella's name at that time was Bellatrix Black" is not correct either, her grandparents were barely alive when CoG is played so she wasn't even an idea at that time. But it was, indeed, her birth name which changed when marrying Rodolphus Lestrange.

Minerva McGonagall wasn’t alive during the events and timeline of Fantastic Beasts, and therefore it makes no sense to have her in those flashback scenes. She was supposedly born in 1935 (according to the information found on Pottermore) and it cannot be her mother or grandmother since the name McGonagall came from her muggle father so this cameo goes directly against canon.
Fantastic beasts 1 was okay as a tangentially related film. The others are poorly executed, nonsensical films
She did have a time turner. Idk how far back those things can go tho. Still seems like it’s hard to work that cameo into canon.
Running theory is that she time travelled for some reason lol, but of course the real life reason was prob bc they wanted to put in the cameo 😂
That is a really bad theory 🤣

@@milenalukic5183 I'm sorry.....BUT HOW IS THAT EVEN POSSIBLE????? Rowling explain!!!
@Gaint Turnip from quick google search:
Minerva McGonagall was born on the outskirts of Caithness in the Scottish Highlands, on 4 October, 1935 to Robert McGonagall, a Muggle Presbyterian minister, and his wife, Isobel Ross, a witch.
And
Newt purchased his first wand, likely from Ollivanders, and was sorted into Hufflepuff on 1 September 1908.
Or if google isn't a good source and you want Rowling herself
in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, McGonagall tells Umbridge that, come December, she will have been teaching at Hogwarts for 39 years which happens in 1995 which means she started teaching in 1956. And Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them movie is set in 1920s New York, which would mean the whole plot of the movies happens before McGonagall could have been born.

This would indeed help make Newt's Prisoner of Azkaban plothole symmetrical in my opinion. Seeing how Newt causes a plothole early in the series for appearing in Harry's map, it's fair that McGonagall gets to have her own plothole in a later film for also seeming to be alive when she shouldn't be. Time turners, Philosophers Stone, Potions, etc.
I am more keen on believing that Newt, in his late years, has found ways to prolong his life. Magical creatures bear powerful and rare magical abilities which could be harnessed by a master in this kind such as Newt Scamander. Also, in the Harry Potter universe, Newt is like a big name, I wouldn't be surprised if he, too, had access to some philosopher's candy himself, either directly or through Dumbledore.
