    • @creoleyakangler6642
      @creoleyakangler6642  5 років тому +2

      @ Richard Vahsholtz Thanks for the comments! The red button near the seat is a kill switch that's wired inline on the positive (red) wire to the trolling motor. The switch has a key that's connected to my pfd. In the unlikely event that I get thrown from the kayak, it will pull the key, and kill power to the trolling motor. Safety 1st!🎣

  • @JoseRivera-tl2dy

    great set up my friend! very similar to mine, i will send you the link. I fish for striped bass and other big game fish, therefore I keep the cockpit open. I power her with the watersnake - do you find the C30 gives you more power? how many hours do you get out of your 35ah battery? With my Mighty Max I get 4 to 6 hours (with a 9w solar panel). Since you fish salt I also highly recommend outriggers, you will immediately notice a huge difference

    • @JoseRivera-tl2dy
      @JoseRivera-tl2dy 4 роки тому

      i just heard your commentary - 4.5 hours...impressive. I also have a pulse modulator for my C30. Would love to see a video of her in the water bro

    • @creoleyakangler6642
      @creoleyakangler6642  3 роки тому

      Thanks for the support bro. This was my first kayak build, and unfortunately, I sold this yak to upgrade to something a bit more stable. My new yak is powered by a watersnake T24 saltwater motor. The difference in power between the C30 & the T24 is not noticeable. However, the T24 will give you more run time on a battery charge, as it only draws 20 amps on high speed, and the C30 draws 30 amps on high speed. My new yak is being powered by a 50AH Lithium, and it allows me to run in saltwater for 8-9 hours when fishing the marsh! I have been getting some requests, so I am about to start building for private customers really soon. Stay tuned for more custom yak builds.

    Great video... I have the same kayak and going to mount a trolling motor. Im glad I found your video. It looks awesome man!!! What kind and size of cable and has it worn out the holes from going back and forth. Also which pedals did you get. Thanks

    • @creoleyakangler6642
      @creoleyakangler6642  5 років тому +2

      @Hugo Meisenbach Thanks for the comments! The cable I used for the steering setup, is from Home Depot 1/8" vinyl coated. The holes that I made with a heated center punch, allows the plastic to melt to a smooth finish vs. using a drill bit which leaves a rough sharp edge. The vinyl coating on the cable protects against cutting in. The foot pedals are made by Attwood. You can get them on Amazon for about 20 bucks! Good luck on your mods, and thanks again for the support! 🎣

  • @brentcurry9698
    @brentcurry9698 4 роки тому +1

    How exactly did you run that turnbuckle through the clamp on the shaft? I have the same trolling motor and have no clue how to make mine work like that with a turnbuckle because one side of the clamp fits the nut and the other is just a hole, which means a turnbuckle would have slop in it, if it would even go. Thanks for the video!

    • @creoleyakangler6642
      @creoleyakangler6642  4 роки тому +1

      Brent Curry- the steering arm is made of (2) 3/8" eyebolts, and (2) nuts that are made to join all thread rods together. The hole in the clamp was drilled a little larger, to pass the bolt through, as well as provide a larger hole for the all thread nuts to settle into the clamp. Do not over tighten the eyebolts, as it doesn't require alot of tension to hold the clamp tight to the motor shaft. Hope this helps!

      @creoleyakangler6642  5 років тому +1

      Thanks for the comments. In my opinion, Outriggers aren't necessary on a Tamarack. Then again I'm 5-5 165. It depends on the type of fishing you're doing and your height and weight. I can stand and fish from my Tamarack with ease. You should try a standing test to determine your comfort level, then if necessary, add some outriggers if you think you'll benefit from them. @ebolamonkey - The total weight of all mods was 49 lbs. I have listed links to all of the parts I used during this build. I have since sold this kayak, and am in the process of building a new one for myself. (Outside of building for customers of course) lol.. I hope your tamarack comes out as good as this one did. Good luck and post a vid of your build! 👊

    Do you have a video you can refer me to where you got the idea for the trolling motor mount?

    Kudos for not wasting $5000 on a plastic boat that seats one, and barely holds fishing gear.
    Here's to all of you jon boat people that have $500 in a motor boat that will take you miles away from the launch!

    I’m not too sure how to connect the trolling motor to the speed control, can you please make a video on this
