Crazy solo BFT hunting in a boat without tuna door. That’s the epitome of, we’ll figure it out when the time comes. What an adventure. You continue to rack up the karma points by helping a fellow fisherman out. Kudos to you and crew.
Thuy said the boat is lucky. No doubt due to all the good karma pts you keep adding to the reserve. No wonder you always catching fish. Good job gentlemen. You hunted for them and caught one as well as a good story to tell.
Nice powerful and positive message at the end for all of us , you are so right you can’t catch ‘em on the couch .. You guys really deserved what you landed that day by lending a much needed hand 👍 Great job !
Thank you brother for your kind words. Ken could do the same for me if I need help. I feel very strong about sharing the importance of taking care of our mental and physical health, especially men. We sometimes just ignore ourselves and only care for families and others. ❤️
Thank you brother. We got lucky with the bite and we tried to fight the fish carefully and was very relieved to land the fish. Thanks for watching and your comment.
I was supposed to wear a glove to guide the line because it had lots of tension and can cut your finger. I just forgot in the heat of the fight. Thanks for watching.
Awesome job Thuy and team, that’s a big BFT. Glad you were able to help out that solo boater bring in his BFT, that’s why you are so cool. Lol, your big fish did bent the newer stainless steel hook 😮, glad the original minion steel hook gaff was strong enough. Will be getting you a bigger steel hook gaff soon for your 250+lbs BFT 😊.
@@110welding it is depends on weather, sea conditions and how well you know your boat and her capabilities. You also needs to find someone to buddy up just in case. It is even safer for big boat to buddy up. So not go far if you don't feel comfortable. I ran my previous boat 15ft Gregor Alaska alluminun boat 22 miles.
Nice work, Thuy! Can you show us how you process and store your BFTs? Would love to get some out here in HMB, but don't know how I would process a huge tuna like that. When my husband went down to San Diego and caught some, we had a company process the BFTs for us.
Hello. Bleed after caught. Remove guts and stuff ice inside and and keep cold in the kill bag with ice and solar salt if you have it . When get home, just filet and cut in portions you desire and vacuum pack. It takes 3 people to complete the cutting process and vacuum pack in 3 hours.
I have a total of 1200 yards of 150 pound power pro braided line. I just estimate by looking at the rings on the Penn international 50 wide. I let out 1 and 1/2 rings of line (around 400 yards) and have caught 3 BFT so I just keep doing what works for me. Thanks for your comment. Good luck. You need to put times on to have a chance to catch them. Most of people do not know that I have put lots of times, researches, money and time on the water for BFT.
Hello brother Thuy , what an amazing day!! You guys assisted that other brother in need of bringing in his tuna and you got blessed with one !! Beautiful thing , you’re an inspiration for so many!! Hey question an you tell me where you got the “Kine”kill bag ? Ok brother as always many many Likes to your great content!!
Thank you Frank for your kind words and comment. Ken could do the same for me if I was in needs. I will ask my friend Eddy where he got the kill bag. I don't have a kill bag. Thanks again for your supports. ❤️
I have the same boat. Have you ever had to repair the aluminum seams for leaks? I have one side of the boat that leaks from the main seam on the outside starboard side. Might have to find an aluminum welder or just use 2 part marine epoxy to fix.
Yeah will have to try. Very nice catch! I went out this pass weekend on Saturday before the hurricane hit, but no luck. We saw some bluefin but did not want to bite. Hopefully next time. Keep posting your content, it is great.
@@thedeeez7574 I meant 5400 marine silicone. When you see jumper or foaming, most of the time they do not bite on your lures so I am not exited when BFT jumps or foaming. I got the fish last Saturday. Just at the right place the right time. It is fishing. Sometimes you need more luck than skills. However we are good with how to fight and gaff BFT. Good luck. Just put your times in and you will get it. Don't give up.
I used a cheap rod called Topline Tackle bent butt rod I bought on Alibaba for only $90 including shipping. It rates 80 to 130 pound. I like the 50 to 80 pound rate but I order it wrong, but this rod will catch a shark. Lol.
I love watching your videos

Thanks brother Oleg. Go get them.
Those big reels don't have self guides. That's a lot of paying attention to guiding it back in. Good stuff

What is the smallest boat, safely can fish out that far?
I have a 16.5 Alumacraft w/40hp tiller.

Nice, I'm doing that now on good days.. 👍
I just wondered, because the eater in North California is a bit rougher than San Diego.
Nice job and thanks for the tutorial
Thank you. I just like to share what has worked for me. Good luck fishing.

19. Thanks Stephanie. I hope to go fishing with you as soon as mackerels come to Santa Cruz.
Did you add those flush mount rod holders in the boat? What kind are they?
Yes. It is a heavy duty marine 316 stainless steel flush mount rod holder. I bought on Amazon.
I have the same boat. Have you ever had to repair the aluminum seams for leaks? I have one side of the boat that leaks from the main seam on the outside starboard side. Might have to find an aluminum welder or just use 2 part marine epoxy to fix.
I just bought the boat a few months ago and so far so good. I think marine silicone 5200 work better than epoxy because it can flex.
