    It's a beautiful part of the world to live! I grew up in a tiny village called Whittingham. You would have seen the top of the church steeple over to the east from thrunton crags. If you think it's steep by McCartney's then, try doing it in 3 foot of snow! Haha it's good to see other people enjoying my "back garden" 😉 and I hope it draws others to the area. Thank you for being respectful and keeping it tidy! Take care mate!

      Thank You Mick, Thrunton is a special place and I enjoyed the video you made from there too, out of curiosity did you hear any unusual noises or wood knocks by any chance?.. it might seem like a silly question and I don't want to say too much on here but people are hearing noises in the woods up there, Atb, Damian.

      Yeah when I was pitching my tent the first time I heard a noise like someone passing close by, (I was well away from the paths and well hidden) I went to investigate and saw nothing , but when I returned to my tent some tent pegs were gone. I unpitched and moved to another spot away from there. spooked lol.

    I REALLY enjoyed this video. For some reason, it's been my favorite thus far, and I've probably watched most of you walks/wild camps 2 or 3 times now.
    I'm very much looking forward to my first wild camp this coming fall. With temps here in south Louisiana at 100F right now, and heat indexes around 115F, it's just not probable to wild camp during the summer. Although, while scouting a few places last week, I did see 2 separate wild camp set ups in one of my local wildlife refuges.
    So this fall, on my first wild camp, I'll be sure to bring some mash along in honor of you! :)

      James edwards Thanks for your comment James, I try to be careful by not reavealing the exact locations of some places as there are too many idiots who will leave a mess and spoil it for the rest of us, there is a danger by popularising wild camping too much it will attract the wrong kind of people who don't care about the countryside and are only interested in a one night piss up in the woods.and aren't bothered because they know they wont be going back again in a hurry.

    Living in London, things have seemed to be getting more and more hectic lately. So I've starting looking at a lot of videos on here showing people camping and getting away from it all just to give me a sense of escapism. But I have to say, of all the videos I've seen, yours are the absolute best. This one had me captivated from start to finish. I would love to do something like this but being a city person for so long, I'd be a bit nervous. But after seeing this I'm longing to have a go. Thanks so much for sharing this. Kev, you want to get yourself out there, if only for the fresh air, being stuck in the city with all that pollution you need to get out in the country, you will enjoy it, but if you are a bit nervous like you say you are, then take up with a friend who is already doing it and pick his brains and learn from him, you don't know what your missing.

    Hi, Another great vid, one question, what is the head lamp you use? It seems to be nice and bright and has a good spread of light for cooking etc.I have a Fox Halo HT-135 which is very bright but not as much light spread as yours. Thank and keep the video's coming. Dave.

    • @Fell_Wanderer
      @Fell_Wanderer  10 років тому

      notwocdivad The head torch is a Petzl Tikka and was the brightest one in the range at the time when I bought it for that style of head torch a couple of years back. There was another model, much brighter and was programmable with different modes but didnt have the red led which is important for stealth mode. TBH brightness isnt everything and I use the red led mode more things as it preserves night vision

    Great video Damian, you picked a good spot to camp. I think the cave would have been far to small to spend the night. The views looked great from your Bivi spot and like you said "a great place to wake up to" Atb Glenn.

    • @Fell_Wanderer
      @Fell_Wanderer  10 років тому

      Glenn Montgomery The cave is also a tourist spot so would have just woken up with someone peeking in as well as being too small, thanks for watching, Atb, Damian.

    I think that was a sketchy place to sleep. I would have been worried about sliding off the edge too. Don't you have a head net for the flies? I thought you showed us the little bag in another video.. Maybe this was before you got it. I like the net for flies and moskitoes. Lovely video. I enjoy watching you wander.

    • @Fell_Wanderer
      @Fell_Wanderer  5 років тому

      That video was made before I got the bug net. I prefer using the Snugpak Stratosphere bivy now because it keeps out the creepy crawlies better than the army bivy. Thanks for watching, Damian.

      john wailes The Boar is holding an edge well and the sheath has grown on me, I like the idea of having the knife sheath held on my belt horizontal and the DC4 stone pouch is handy, being tool steel it stains easy and I have to clean and oil it straight away otherwise it starts to rust very easy, I oiled it from a trip the other day but didnt clean off the dirt first and it still started to develop a thin layer of rust so I've learned to clean it down properly first before oiling, thanks for watching

    Another great video wedderburns hole is hard to find now as that tracks not that well used now it's another great location for watching the stars as there's very little light pollution I am itching to try a bivi something I am going to have a go you have to watch out at thrunton for adders it's a great place for them

    • @Fell_Wanderer
      @Fell_Wanderer  10 років тому

      A bivy under the stars is a great experience, autumn is best for the lack of midges and star gazing as the nights are darker but its also starting to get colder, I would have loved to find Wedderburn's hole but for safety reasons it wasn't to be ;-( thanks for watching..

    Try using a pie tin for a skillet, they aren't nearly as bulky as a full size and cost is on the cheap.

      Andy Greaves Other than the Lake District I don't know that area well. I would use Google Earth to recce an area you are interested in, I also use Google street view to check out car parking areas when I find an area of interest
