    The majesty of that landscape is hard to capture in photographs or videos, but Damien, you did it. Beautiful! And those climbs, an achievement indeed.

      The walk up Kirk Fell was one of the hardest I've ever done. The route was steep, especially with a heavy bag but its nice to have the video as a memory. Looking back, I can relax watching it and know I did it. Thanks for your comment.

    Great one. Hell of a howk up Kirk fell like. So hats 🎩 off for that. The route you took up pillar was the shamrock traverse route. The one I said not to do in my video of pillar lol. The black sail pass is the bit where you come down Kirk fell then head up pillar. I wish I'd been there. I can only do Fridays and Saturday like. One day I'll get out with ya. Shame you had to come down. Pillar is amazing to camp on top. Nice video as always mate. Look forward to the next. Atb.

    • @Fell_Wanderer
      @Fell_Wanderer  8 років тому

      Thanks Andy, from the Black Sail Pass we walked along the ridge up to Pillar, I didn't like the idea of dropping down further to ascend again with a heavy pack, the shamrock traverse route would have offered great views of Pillar Rock and the crags. We were so lucky with the weather, you don't get many days like that in Lakeland. I'm sure we can sort a trip out soon, weekends are best for me also, ATB, Damian.

    Great bit of filming. Gave a good insight of the vastness up there. I like the cooking bits you do on all the vids.
    I had a small stroke back last year the first week in Feb, not right now but getting there. It messed up 2016 for me however I did manage to go camping three times. I hope to do a long walk this year and also the coast to coast walk. Many thanks for all.

    • @Fell_Wanderer
      @Fell_Wanderer  8 років тому

      Pillar is nice and flat on top with lots of camping spots. Kirk Fell has better views IMHO but there is no easy way up, Pillar has a nice steady ridge walk with a little steepness at the end but nothing serious. There is something special about the lake District thats hard to explain, its a bit like Scotlands mountains but on a lesser scale, everything packed into a small area and only 2 hours travel to get there. ATB.

    Hi Damo, good to see you having fun with the lads!.That said over the last few years I've been watching I generally prefer those where you are solo or with more of a personal touch. For me it's seems you seem closer to the nature and the environment, and hearing what you have to say and teach homies like me is something Ive really enjoyed. It is good and important to have a crack with friends to but please keep up some solo stuff too.

    • @Fell_Wanderer
      @Fell_Wanderer  8 років тому

      Thanks Geordie, its Alpkit's all round bag and packs down reasonably small, the -2C comfort rating will keep a female or cold sleeper warm around freezing, the -8C is the transitional zone where you will start feeling the cold. I've used it down to a couple of degrees above freezing and was toasty warm so its a good bag for Autumn and not too cold temperatures in Winter.

    • @Fell_Wanderer
      @Fell_Wanderer  8 років тому

      Try Google Earth and street view to find places. The Cheviot Hills are close by, so long as you camp high up above the farms and keep a low profile you should be ok. Kielder is another place but its best to inform the rangers as they sometimes are cutting down trees. There are lots of bothies too, I'm not really into those but is an option in the colder months. www.mountainbothies.org.uk/index.asp

      Hi Eddie, Pete is a fast walker, one of his strides is nearly double mine. I would say my fitness is probably above average for my age, I just haven't been out hill walking in a while so wasn't used with the shock to my system. My legs were stiff for a few days afterwards but I'm pleased I've done it, even though at the time I was not enjoying the steep ascents, (no pain no gain lol) ATB, Damian.
