    • @frenchhorn7871
      @frenchhorn7871 7 років тому

      I think that if you can do more of "Bullet throws" then throwing it up, if possible, will help with overthrows over long distances

    Expand the outfield video to include ready position, first moves, route to the ball, dead ball pickup and hitting the cutoff man. This will be a longer video, but with the quick pace you set in your videos I think it will work well.

    Hi coach can you break down when an outfielder should hit his cutoff man, and when he should just throw straight to second base for instance, as in is there a rule as to where the throw should go in regard to whether the outfielder is running up on a ball or going back on it etc.

    • @xeprus8484
      @xeprus8484 7 років тому

      Jeremy Gonsalez the goal should be to throw it through the cut. The player at the bag will make the call to cut it or let it go through depending on the situation.

    Hey man my son is 6 but he is playing with 7 and 8 travel ball they just moved him in the outfield because he knows he has to try to get the ball fast and get it to infield what is something I can do to get him to move up to the ball when it's hit to him or when it's going past him to move back for the ball

    A more advanced Pitching and batting video would be great, plz? I can see and fix basics problems with a batter's swing or pitcher's windup/stretch, but the finer points is what I'm looking for, which can make all the difference for a young kid. EX. Weight distribution during swing, which includes a drill to correct too much weight on the front foot and another drill for a kid with too much weight on his back foot. Thx for the videos! I enjoy them and look fwd to binge watching many more! Thx in advance!

    Advice for outfielders who drop balls when making a running catch. They say the ball is moving as they are making the catch. Could be that they are running on their heels causing head to move? Run more on front foot?

  • @thomascarty2189
    @thomascarty2189 7 років тому +4

    My only comment when describing that the ball makes a weird change in the air, you should never turn you back to the ball, this causes you to lose track of the ball. And causes the outfielder to get turned around

    • @mjh0619
      @mjh0619 7 років тому

      as an outfielder, I would have to agree with coach on this one. Turning any other way can cause you to trip, especially when you are ranging back at a relatively fast speed. My tip for you, or your son, would be to practice the "turn" that he showed in the video to get used to tracking the ball in the air. :)

    • @whatifitistrue7408
      @whatifitistrue7408 7 років тому +1

      Thomas Carty Gonna go with Thomas on this one . Never take your eyes off the ball. It's just as easy to teach to open up the hips to change direction as to turn quickly. emphasise quick feet.

    • @aberdeenbaseballclub8026
      @aberdeenbaseballclub8026 7 років тому

      I agree with Thomas. I coach my players to keep their eyes on the ball and pivot their hips to change direction. There is no starting from zero again in this motion. You keep the same momentum and you keep your eye on the ball.

    • @aberdeenbaseballclub8026
      @aberdeenbaseballclub8026 7 років тому

      Yes, with that I agree. For the balls hit deep to the outfield it is best to turn and run at full speed and then turn and find the ball. However for the line drives that you can keep your eye, then its best to pivot. In this video, he seems to be simulating the later of the two so a pivot would be best instead of turning your back to the ball.

  • @user-bt1in4oq8j

    I've been coaching for years and I live by one Golden Rule. Never do drills that you won't ever do in the game. What is the point of that? Nobody in Little League catches the ball behind their back. It seems like drills you have to make up because you don't know what else to do. You'll never go wrong with game time simulated drills.

    • @bigbens33
      @bigbens33 25 днів тому

      Those help with depth perception and concentration, which you do use when tracking balls. I guarantee you've done hitting drills with a tee and/or soft toss, which you don't do in a game, so dont be a hater. There are many ways to do things, be open.

      I just do them without a partner and without anyone throwing me the ball, recalling focusing on the footwork instead
