Awesome video coach,we do many of the drills shown here! I think it's great that guys like yourself are willing to take the time and share these videos! One other drill we do is sprint backwards with the kids head on a swivel so to speak! Again great instructions
I've just started watching your videos and they been helping my slow pitch game I try to use these tactics as an outfielder I'd love to see more foot work to help improve my game thanks for the tips coach
Are you located in AZ? I am coaching a Jr. High team and was wondering if you might do a 1 day demo for my kids. They are 6th and 7th graders who know the game but some of these things coming from another coach may stick a little more. Great video's keep them coming I learn just as much as they do when I work these in.
Hi, Thanks for the instruction. I'm getting back into playing after not having played for 35 years since high school. As an outfielder and older player, What are your suggestions to approach getting re-acclimated to the outfield and mastering the basics?? I realize I need to do this in a gradual manner. Please let me know. Thanks.
Same situation here. I work on mobility and improving speed in the months prior to season, e.g. jump lunges and skate lunges, sprints and running on the balls of your feet to minimize the bouncing ball as you track flys. Closer to season you just need to take fly balls, liners, grounders…to improve judgement and tracking and practice the great drop steps in this vid. Finally strengthen the arm and practice hitting your cutoffs.
I'm currently a Junior in hs and battling for a outfield spot. I been having trouble hitting my cutoffs properly and dealing with over shooting my cutoffs. Any advice. Also how to hit off speed pitches
You should try to throw the ball with a more fast and direct throw, try to make the ball go less than a foot over your cutoffs head at apex. For off-speed pitches, you have to watch the depth of the ball in the pitchers hand.
I’ve played infield most of my life and am transitioning to outfield. I have speed to track down balls and I think I take good angles at balls but just simply reading fly balls is hard at times. Is there any tips you have for silly getting better at reading the baseball? Especially the shallow fly balls and the line drives right at you
Well Balance was a bad word to describe it, when I said balanced I meant judging the ball and where your weight should be when catching and throwing, if that makes sense
Good video. Very helpful. But also you forgot to mention that also sometimes when people miss a ball is because they are running flat footed always stay on your toes it will help read the ball better
I don't know if I can make this make sense but ... I'm an outfielder, and a righty so I have my glove on my left hand and when a ball comes to my right side it's hard to pick up and get it to a base efficiently... If that makes sense to you can someone give me some tips on that. Thx
Maximus Raymond You have to read the ball quicker and get a better angle so you can get the pick/scoop and go into a crow hop for an efficient throw. Hope this was what you were looking for!
If your pulling your head and swinging early I'm guessing your trying to pull the ball and your body is open and not straight to the ball, try getting a tee and putting it close to you, bring your hands inside and try to get the barrel to hit the baseball and in general hit off the tee everyday it really helps during games. I've had these problems too and this is what my coach told me to do to fix it I hope this helped allitle.
Maybe a video of incorporating weights into a program. For example, Bryce Harper has always been into using explosive lifts like cleans and power cleans.
That doesn't work for people with athsma or for people who have seasonal allergies and have their sinuses congested. You actually want to breathe in a rythm like 2-in-2-out
Terrible zig zag drill. You turn your head around and your body will follow without losing speed and barely losing sight of the ball rather than losing all momentum and risking getting your feet tangled up(resulting in falling and getting bases taken on you).
False, if you’re an elite outfielder, you will have extremely fast reflex speed, meaning if you practice just changing direction instead of turning your head and losing sight of the ball, you’ll be able to do it with ease and comfort. Especially if you play a corner outfield position, balls tend to have a slice on them so if you lose sight for a second it could cost you the play

Could you do a video of we’re an outfielder goes when a ball is hit to him or to right field when a runner is on first or something
I've just started watching your videos and they been helping my slow pitch game I try to use these tactics as an outfielder I'd love to see more foot work to help improve my game thanks for the tips coach
Great help 👍 ... Will add to them to my regular outfield drills
That park is so beautiful

Thank you for the knowledge! I'm coaching little league and this is great!

Eric Galvan Remember, as an outfielder, no throw is too low, as long as it's not a two or more hopper.

Watch the ball off the bat. It's the easiest way to read where it's going or how hard the balls hit
How about a video on infield throws to first base. My son plays third and struggles with consistency when making the throw to first.
gcd5263 I played third base and had trouble with this as well. I just had to get me arm strength up and my accuracy. Hope this helps.
I say go to your nearest field and do throws from second then we he gets that do shortstop and then do third, hope it helps!
if he is old enough get him on resistance bands and strengthen his arm
Long toss long toss long toss
I have been transferring to a new travel team that is really good and I have decided to convert myself to an outfeilder, these drills are great.
Great, basic drills to help my outfielders. Thanks!
Great video bro!
Could you do a video on balance and outfield assists?
Can you be a little more specific on the balance question? Do you mean balance when you're swinging?
Well Balance was a bad word to describe it, when I said balanced I meant judging the ball and where your weight should be when catching and throwing, if that makes sense
Got it! That makes more sense!
hi coach, can you show how to read the fly ball will be over you. sometime i am confused to run forward or backward. Q_Q
This video should really help you out!
ua-cam.com/video/7rAdbVEWEik/v-deo.html

Ageeed that would be a good vid

Jackson Goldflam work legs
Colby Moon and what else?

Good video. Very helpful. But also you forgot to mention that also sometimes when people miss a ball is because they are running flat footed always stay on your toes it will help read the ball better
Make a video of Camp needs or camp Do’s and don’t’s
his vids are very usefull

Great videos! Could you do a video about sliding catches and sliding stops or diving catches in outfield and how to practice? Would be great. Thanks
Good idea, I'll try to incorporate that into a future video!
Yeah
Yes
great video

I worked on it with my dad and in 10 minutes I saw improvement
Make a video on what u should be thinking about when hitting
think about what pitch he will throw next
Can you do a video on bat speed
Matthew Ramos throw hands to the ball as fast as you can that’s it
Great training tips love the drills
For a ball hit to either side, shouldn't you not run straight to the side it was hit to but run in a "banana route" in that direction?
Great drills coach 🔥
That park is really green.. Great place for drills
Agreed! Thanks for watching!
R there any weight lifting u shouldn't do?
Chest.. doesn’t affect anything rlly work more legs and arm care to strengthen rotator cuffs and fore arms
respect +1000
This is a good dripl
Nice video, I plan outfield and I have some trouble with my footwork. btw what glove is that?
I'm struggling with my timing and I'm late but when I try to swing earlier I pull my head also I have trouble hitting inside pitches
If your pulling your head and swinging early I'm guessing your trying to pull the ball and your body is open and not straight to the ball, try getting a tee and putting it close to you, bring your hands inside and try to get the barrel to hit the baseball and in general hit off the tee everyday it really helps during games. Guerilla In Training, I know this is late, but I think you should do the same weight lifting as Bruce Harper!
Personally I could use some tips on speed and running correctly as well as breathing correctly while running (just an idea)
_ xXkidd11Xx_ in through the nose out through the mouth

🔥
Thanks you are awesome

Man I loved playing outfield, loved chasing down fly balls. In practice, I could shag flies all day long.
👍🏼👍🏼
practice plan dills please!
Terrible zig zag drill. You turn your head around and your body will follow without losing speed and barely losing sight of the ball rather than losing all momentum and risking getting your feet tangled up(resulting in falling and getting bases taken on you).
Will Taylor u are right

a partner that can hit you?????? sounds brutal

Great video
