it resonated with me when he spoke about leadership and bad examples. My first Gunny was my example of how NOT to be as a leader. As I climbed up the ranks I would remind myself not to be like him and it paid off.
Former MAIT here also among other things. Great work gents can't wait for part 2. Ssgt Thigpen thanks for sharing just remember you can let your adversity define you or devour you. Or in your words starve that monkey. My favorite quote is by Bruce Lee "Don't pray for an easy life pray for the strength to endure a difficult one."
Great interview, but that's life. When you do dumb shit it follows you. They used his logic against him. He thought he shouldnt listen because he was a first class PFTr...do they still call it that. If you interview 2 candidates for a job and all things equal, but one has a criminal past , who gets the job? Just asking. I only did 4 years back in the early eighties, but the guys that were getting the NJP, were usually not on their first offense. I wish him well, seem to have a good head on his shoulder. good show today. and SimperFi.
This Marine was my greatest accomplishment in my entire career. I saw myself in him and his potential. Sgt K
Would love to hear some stories!
Haha way too many. My looks on that conversation is a bit different than his but his sounds better than it actually was

Must not have been anything serious, otherwise they'd never take him less alone put him in leadership.
