I genuinely have no clue why they didn't even show a portion of them rehearsing in the past episodes so we can have some excitement to see the routines 😩 the twist was unrealistic like you said regarding costuming etc. Also wouldn't Ariana recognise her sisters handwriting?? 😂 imma go watch season 3 episode 25, which is the first episode of actual REAL internationals bc in my mind s9 internationals is already forgetful 💀

These last 3 episodes felt so rushed. Was quite disappointed by them. firstly I feel like Miss Kate should've shown a bit more embarrassment when TNS did poorly, This used to be HER studio. Secondly Anthony changing the small group last minute was stupid plus we're seen Pascal in small group rehearsal so she should know it pretty well, just get Heath to go over it with her, that way you can still have the drama side to the dancing. Thirdly it was pretty obvious to me that Pressley wouldn't have sent those flowers. Everyone seems to forget that she was very accepting of being kicked off A troop back in series 8. She got outdanced by Richelle and she was ok with that. Also why was she there to begin with, can anyone just stroll in or is it like a plus 1 situation where you can have a guest come and watch you? If that is the case did nobody else invite anyone? (I have more to say about Pressley but I'll leave it for when you react to the next episode.) also Olive saying the solo Round is next despite us having not seen the Small group round ties into me thinking how these episodes where Rushed.

I understand there’s a budget but this feels like it’s just a local competition it does not feel like internationals at all. Kate either has dementia or fame made her emotionless because why is she back in the studio she owned and she’s not said anything about it or spoken to eldon or Nick who she knows well. There’s no pay off for any of the dances because we didn’t see them rehearse *and* if I’m gonna be completely honest this version of studio A is too small to make dances look like epic internationals level routines. Doing internationals at the next step completely defeats the point of experiencing new cultures and competing against the world, one studio is not the world that is not internationals And tbh grace needs to go away she just stands there and does nothing while Maria and the french girl do everything. I’m gonna assume the writers strike is why this internationals sucks because why is it 3 episodes long the real internationals was 7!!

My biggest issue was not with the plot, but the choreography and that was a big shame. I still vividly remember the Blindfold routine from Season 3 and the Luther Brown routine from Season 2, the dances used to be so iconic. Season 8 and 9 have been particularly weak, which is confusing because Season 9 is a talented troupe and have a wide range of dancers and they're quite versatile and none of their strengths were capitalised on. I also don't like people were just allowed to mill about, what if the people who were not part of the competition just ran on stage? They can't be disqualified, so what would happen if someone sabotaged a routine by doing that? They're really pushing this idea of twists changing everything, but the mystery music and blindfold challenge from Season 3 did not mean they had to swap any dancers (it was A-Troupe's personal choice to replace Michelle with Noah). The whole thing felt like a mildly elevated version of the Regionals Convention from Season 6. It was quite disappointing overall in that sense. There's far too many plotholes for this Internationals to be enjoyable for me, although there is one routine I really liked in the upcoming episode.
I think it's obvious the choreographers run out of ideas by this point, they should hire some new ones that are freah bc while the ones we've been having are great and all, they're just not working well anymore and that's understandable but it's affecting the show so something must be done.

I don't think that she doesn't know her, it's just that Kenzie told her everything she has done to them, which includes things Maria would never share with Ultra Elite, like why Richelle betrayed her at dancemania as she wanted to cheat.

I agree with all of this!! Richelle could have been brought back for some other reason or not at all I feel like she was just thrown in there for the sake of it. With that #JusticeforWinnie like what was that there was no real need to be that cold towards Winnie And I would have liked again to see Nick actually get involved or having some say in the dances Instead of Anthony taking control of everything yes he’s dance captain but it’s giving Emily doing the dance lines without Kate’s opinion ALL over again 😂😂 Compared to internationals series 3 this was quite a weak episode 😬

super underwhelming! especially since we ended season 8 with richelle just saying she's "sticking around", and I know briar wasn't available to to be a main cast member in S9, but even a talking head or something to show significance!
feel like Freya should have performed at the prom and the prom have been all of ep 19 rather than half. then there would be more time for plot in ep 20 21 22 and richelle would have been in ep19 and able to party with her friends and see Maria
I think the "alternate" only really matters for the 10 person dance at this point. If you're an alternate maybe you can still dance in a duet/group dance but not in the finale 10 person dance.
I actually thought it was good overall tbh given the situation and amount of episodes for internationals maybe one more round of dancing would be good semis maybe.. I’d say top 5/6 seasons 🤷♂️
Guess the budget wasn't budgeting this year, this season felt really off and rushed, I know some people don't want to hear it but the next step has overstayed it's welcome, a long time ago for the matter and it's ok for it to the end, it had a good run.

Internationals definitely needed more episodes. I loved seeing Richelle return and perform with Freya but she was basically an extra! She hardly said anything😭 I loved that she congratulated Kenzie on getting an offer with Freya but I wanted more with her! Considering she was the only one who was suspicious of Grace in the Season 8 finale, it would have been nice to see her contribute in saving TNS against Maria and Grace’s scheming. I’m disappointed that she didn’t even get a scene with Maria. Likewise with Kate. It’s great to see Lester and Kate again but I do wish Richelle and Kate had talking heads. Maria’s scheming to take down TNS is entertaining but it felt a bit counterintuitive for her to mess with TNS during the moments where both teams have to work together to progress as they’re partnered in these first few rounds? But I still rate her dedication😂 Also Ariana should definitely know Maria shouldn’t she? Considering she was on Elite with Grace, she should definitely know Maria. Same with Olive and Adele. Unless they were only supervised by Lucien? I feel like Niall and Eldon are the only ones who wouldn’t know her. Team France definitely had the better dance with Kenzie shining and saving both teams, although it definitely wasn’t a 99 score type of dance!😂 Way too high and generous! #Winniedeservesbetter Winnie totally deserved a talking head scene too! She’s clearly developing an interest with managing roles. First she managed the Step Inside production in Season 8 and now Internationals? I want to know how she’s feeling and how she acquired these roles!😭 19:45 - I still refuse for her to go!😭 I’m lowkey hoping for any deleted scenes to be released on the CBBC UA-cam channel. I’ve given up on the TNS UA-cam channel lmao.
I'm so glad I watched this video because you perfectly conveyed everything I was thinking when I watched this season. I think it was better than Season 8 but lost the sparkle and heart that Next Step had before. And honestly I wish they had lots more non-dance related drama because they kept having these "twists" that were hardly twists, and because there were so many it wasn't very shocking or tense. Also, I think it would be better if they made less episodes or something and used that money to at least go to L'Equipe Toile's studio or a theatre or stage. Because this meant that it was really obvious the final would be between France and Canada because we didn't even see any studios. And I'm so bored of Maria and Grace - their plot is so overused! Why are they constantly trying to take down tns?! Just leave already! What's the point of them being so worked up and stressed about getting dances and solos for internationals and spending weeks choreographing and rehearsing to then just change dancers and costumes and choreo and style is completely unrealistic and makes the rest of the series feel rather poinless. Sorry, but another criticism is the virtual audience - what are they doing there? why are they just recording themselves clapping? I would prefer it if instead they sort of made it as though it was a tv-show and we were watching it and being the audience and then it would cut out of the SNR show sort of like the BTS. It didn't really feel like a real show though either. I feel like this Season was missing a lot, but it is still better than Season 8 so hopefully it can get some of its character back in season 10
I think France got their 99 points because of their 5 point advantage they won in one of their challenges against TNS. But I didn't get why Internationals decide to use the five point advantage in this round when the reason they were competing against their sister studio for the five points was so that they had a better chance of winning, but then the two teams ended up combining the scores anyway
I guess Team France only used their five point advantage in this round to get through to the next, maybe some of the other teams that had a five point advantage ended up using theirs in later rounds?
Something I don't like is that it almost looks like a struggle for some of them to dance in their costumes 🤔 like Heath's wings and also in Episode 21 Pascale is doing amazing acro but her dress is literally covering her face 😂
Are we supposed to believe that Ariana and Presley have had absolutely zero contact whatsoever since Presley didn't make the new A-Troupe in the last season? Idk, something doesn't sit right... if that is the case and she invited her I'm actually surprised she turned up to support her 😂
I don't like things or people lazy because I know people worked hard on the show, but it SEEMS like the reason we didn't say any rehearsals for internationals is so they can do these weird changes in routines. But I haven't seen them practice so I don't care if they change. Back in S3 we saw Giselle and James etc. Practice their group dance but at internationals they had their music changed but they worked with it and it still looked similar to before and it was Satisfying
The way that they just magically had dances that we never knew they were rehearsing made me feel like I'd missed episodes Also Richelle was giving Briar, not Richelle As always there were mistakes on the leaderboards. How was everyone "in the 90s", but not a single team scored above 90?
I feel like this season (and especially during internationals) has had so many missed opportunities with character interactions. Here's a list of characters I wouldve liked to see talk to each other: kenzie and pascale, ebby and pascale (ebby could've asked pascale about remi) and honestly wouldve been nice to see pascale interact with the whole team and not just heath. Literally nick with anyone. I'm honestly so disappointed with how little Nick was in this season, like I thought after season 8 we would be past this. I also think daisy and izzy shouldve had a scene together. I know that episode was a while ago but I still can't get over how when xander didn't make a troupe everyone was crying and so upset and then when daisy didn't make it no one cared except for heath 😭. I also think richelle shouldve had a few more scenes where she could've interacted with Kate, Heath, maria, Nick or maybe even izzy because we havent seen richelle and izzy interact sinse she got with ozzy. I definitely don't think we would need all of those but they're just some ideas I had. I also think that this season there has been so many plot holes with grace. Like I never know what the team thinks of her and there are so many missing scenes of characters finding out what she did. It wouldve been nice to see the whole team collectively find out about her actions. I think it wouldve been good to have talking heads from Pete, jett and adele abt being cut from the small group. I honestly completely forgot that they already established a small group (probably bc we never saw them rehearse ittt) so the scene where anthony changed up the dance felt rlly empty to me. I also don't understand how they got those bird costumes after such short notice. Lmao
I liked internationals but there were just too many plotholes! They tried though, it’s hard to live up to a season and a competition every TNS fan loves.
Ok so here are my thoughts for this episode. 1. When I saw that Miss Kate was back I was really excited however her character in this episode was kind of pointless. It felt like the writers asked her to reprise her role just for the sake of it considering they wouldn't even give her a single talking head or a proper name like WHERE IS YOUR PROPER NAME 2. Lets be honest, we all love Richelle for who she is but WHY HAS SHE NOT SAID ANYTHING ABOUT OZZY AND STEP INSIDE 2. I just feel like her storyline in this season should have been a lot more detailed and effective. 3. The fact that we don't get too see the team going to a different country to perform at internationals is sad but I guess it makes season 3 even more iconic. Also, I wish we could see other countries performing dances because it just looks like TNS and the French team (IDK how to spell the name of the team lol) are just having a dance battle. 4. I loved the dances in this episode. I especially love TNS swan small group. I love love love love love Heath's outfit, I think he looks so cool in it and well done to the costume designers 👏👏👏👏👏👏 (I don't care how much money that outfit is I will buy it and treasure it in my wardrobe) 5. I love the fact that Presley is back but like come on. SHE JUST WALKED IN!! LIKE IM SORRY, I AIN'T SEEING NO INVITATION IN YOUR HAND!! 6. FREYA SKYE IS IN THE BUILDING!!! I really like her song and her singing is beautiful but I wish she was a guest judge instead of Miss Kate cuz I know that Freya is British. So why fly across the world just to sing one song. ONE SONG. Like they could have had her interview some of the team members and talking more about the tour with Kenzie. For some reason I would love it if Ariana had a bonding session with Freya. I don't know why I just feel like it's one of those things that NEED to happen. Ok so those are my thoughts for this episode. P.S Alesha please prepare yourself for the cliff hanger at the end of episode 22. I won't give any spoilers but all I will say is I was not expecting it and I think they will make a Season 10 GREAT VIDEO I REALLY ENJOYED IT
I absolutely hated the way they did internationals this year. It's so stupid how we didn't get many dances and we only saw 2 teams dance. I hate that it was at studio A and not somewhere around the world. I thought that was the point but anyways. The dances weren't as good apart from ari solo. Yet again they have failed to re create s3 and it was just garbage. They actually had good charcters this season aswell and I thought it was going well.

I feel like Internationals in Season 9 was not exciting as Season 3 was, it felt a bit rushed. Season 8 has 27 episodes while Season 9 only has 22 episodes. I love seeing Richelle, Presley, and Miss Kate return in this episode. Team France's dance along with Kenzie was very smooth. I wish that Pete, Jett, and Adele were still in the small group along with Heath so that nothing would change other than adding Pascale in the small group routine. Love seeing Freya, her singing was amazing and I love the interaction with Richelle while doing the opening ceremony. I felt like Adele and Olive should have told Anthony right away once they saw the note. Winnie deserves better, justice for Winnie to return in Season 10.

I just discovered the BIGGEST plot hole in TNS history. In season 2, when TNS goes to nationals, the commentators say Michelle is looking to defend her nationals soloist title from the previous year However, seeing as to how the last time she competed at nationals was in the USA nationals (because her team was from Wisconsin) , it makes no sense because of TNS is from Canada Michelle would be competing at Canadian nationals in season 2 not US nationals?
I feel like the costumes arnt that big of a deal because I’m sure they would have a spare pair of white leggings in the lost property so maybe they did change Jetts costume from trousers to leggings

There’s no pay off for any of the dances because we didn’t see them rehearse *and* if I’m gonna be completely honest this version of studio A is too small to make dances look like epic internationals level routines.
Doing internationals at the next step completely defeats the point of experiencing new cultures and competing against the world, one studio is not the world that is not internationals
And tbh grace needs to go away she just stands there and does nothing while Maria and the french girl do everything. I’m gonna assume the writers strike is why this internationals sucks because why is it 3 episodes long the real internationals was 7!!

My biggest issue was not with the plot, but the choreography and that was a big shame. I still vividly remember the Blindfold routine from Season 3 and the Luther Brown routine from Season 2, the dances used to be so iconic. Season 8 and 9 have been particularly weak, which is confusing because Season 9 is a talented troupe and have a wide range of dancers and they're quite versatile and none of their strengths were capitalised on. I also don't like people were just allowed to mill about, what if the people who were not part of the competition just ran on stage? They can't be disqualified, so what would happen if someone sabotaged a routine by doing that? They're really pushing this idea of twists changing everything, but the mystery music and blindfold challenge from Season 3 did not mean they had to swap any dancers (it was A-Troupe's personal choice to replace Michelle with Noah). The whole thing felt like a mildly elevated version of the Regionals Convention from Season 6. It was quite disappointing overall in that sense. There's far too many plotholes for this Internationals to be enjoyable for me, although there is one routine I really liked in the upcoming episode.
I think it's obvious the choreographers run out of ideas by this point, they should hire some new ones that are freah bc while the ones we've been having are great and all, they're just not working well anymore and that's understandable but it's affecting the show so something must be done.

feel like Freya should have performed at the prom and the prom have been all of ep 19 rather than half. then there would be more time for plot in ep 20 21 22 and richelle would have been in ep19 and able to party with her friends and see Maria

I think the "alternate" only really matters for the 10 person dance at this point. If you're an alternate maybe you can still dance in a duet/group dance but not in the finale 10 person dance.
I actually thought it was good overall tbh given the situation and amount of episodes for internationals maybe one more round of dancing would be good semis maybe.. I’d say top 5/6 seasons 🤷♂️
Guess the budget wasn't budgeting this year, this season felt really off and rushed, I know some people don't want to hear it but the next step has overstayed it's welcome, a long time ago for the matter and it's ok for it to the end, it had a good run.

Internationals definitely needed more episodes. I loved seeing Richelle return and perform with Freya but she was basically an extra! She hardly said anything😭 I loved that she congratulated Kenzie on getting an offer with Freya but I wanted more with her! Considering she was the only one who was suspicious of Grace in the Season 8 finale, it would have been nice to see her contribute in saving TNS against Maria and Grace’s scheming. I’m disappointed that she didn’t even get a scene with Maria. Likewise with Kate. It’s great to see Lester and Kate again but I do wish Richelle and Kate had talking heads.
Maria’s scheming to take down TNS is entertaining but it felt a bit counterintuitive for her to mess with TNS during the moments where both teams have to work together to progress as they’re partnered in these first few rounds? But I still rate her dedication😂
Also Ariana should definitely know Maria shouldn’t she? Considering she was on Elite with Grace, she should definitely know Maria. Same with Olive and Adele. Unless they were only supervised by Lucien? I feel like Niall and Eldon are the only ones who wouldn’t know her. Team France definitely had the better dance with Kenzie shining and saving both teams, although it definitely wasn’t a 99 score type of dance!😂 Way too high and generous!
#Winniedeservesbetter Winnie totally deserved a talking head scene too! She’s clearly developing an interest with managing roles. First she managed the Step Inside production in Season 8 and now Internationals? I want to know how she’s feeling and how she acquired these roles!😭

I'm so glad I watched this video because you perfectly conveyed everything I was thinking when I watched this season. I think it was better than Season 8 but lost the sparkle and heart that Next Step had before. And honestly I wish they had lots more non-dance related drama because they kept having these "twists" that were hardly twists, and because there were so many it wasn't very shocking or tense. Also, I think it would be better if they made less episodes or something and used that money to at least go to L'Equipe Toile's studio or a theatre or stage. Because this meant that it was really obvious the final would be between France and Canada because we didn't even see any studios.
And I'm so bored of Maria and Grace - their plot is so overused! Why are they constantly trying to take down tns?! Just leave already!
What's the point of them being so worked up and stressed about getting dances and solos for internationals and spending weeks choreographing and rehearsing to then just change dancers and costumes and choreo and style is completely unrealistic and makes the rest of the series feel rather poinless.
Sorry, but another criticism is the virtual audience - what are they doing there? why are they just recording themselves clapping? I would prefer it if instead they sort of made it as though it was a tv-show and we were watching it and being the audience and then it would cut out of the SNR show sort of like the BTS. It didn't really feel like a real show though either.
I feel like this Season was missing a lot, but it is still better than Season 8 so hopefully it can get some of its character back in season 10

I think France got their 99 points because of their 5 point advantage they won in one of their challenges against TNS. But I didn't get why Internationals decide to use the five point advantage in this round when the reason they were competing against their sister studio for the five points was so that they had a better chance of winning, but then the two teams ended up combining the scores anyway
I guess Team France only used their five point advantage in this round to get through to the next, maybe some of the other teams that had a five point advantage ended up using theirs in later rounds?
Something I don't like is that it almost looks like a struggle for some of them to dance in their costumes 🤔 like Heath's wings and also in Episode 21 Pascale is doing amazing acro but her dress is literally covering her face 😂
Are we supposed to believe that Ariana and Presley have had absolutely zero contact whatsoever since Presley didn't make the new A-Troupe in the last season? Idk, something doesn't sit right... if that is the case and she invited her I'm actually surprised she turned up to support her 😂
I don't like things or people lazy because I know people worked hard on the show, but it SEEMS like the reason we didn't say any rehearsals for internationals is so they can do these weird changes in routines. But I haven't seen them practice so I don't care if they change. Back in S3 we saw Giselle and James etc. Practice their group dance but at internationals they had their music changed but they worked with it and it still looked similar to before and it was Satisfying
I would have like to a Moment with Miss Kate back in the studio just remembering her past and even have a conversation with Nick about how he is doing

This second half has let me down so much
I feel like this season (and especially during internationals) has had so many missed opportunities with character interactions. Here's a list of characters I wouldve liked to see talk to each other: kenzie and pascale, ebby and pascale (ebby could've asked pascale about remi) and honestly wouldve been nice to see pascale interact with the whole team and not just heath. Literally nick with anyone. I'm honestly so disappointed with how little Nick was in this season, like I thought after season 8 we would be past this. I also think daisy and izzy shouldve had a scene together. I know that episode was a while ago but I still can't get over how when xander didn't make a troupe everyone was crying and so upset and then when daisy didn't make it no one cared except for heath 😭. I also think richelle shouldve had a few more scenes where she could've interacted with Kate, Heath, maria, Nick or maybe even izzy because we havent seen richelle and izzy interact sinse she got with ozzy. I definitely don't think we would need all of those but they're just some ideas I had.
I also think that this season there has been so many plot holes with grace. Like I never know what the team thinks of her and there are so many missing scenes of characters finding out what she did. It wouldve been nice to see the whole team collectively find out about her actions.
I think it wouldve been good to have talking heads from Pete, jett and adele abt being cut from the small group. I honestly completely forgot that they already established a small group (probably bc we never saw them rehearse ittt) so the scene where anthony changed up the dance felt rlly empty to me. I also don't understand how they got those bird costumes after such short notice. Lmao
It annoyed me that alternate doesn't mean anything, because Pascale, Ethan and Kenzie all danced
I liked internationals but there were just too many plotholes! They tried though, it’s hard to live up to a season and a competition every TNS fan loves.

Ok so here are my thoughts for this episode.
1. When I saw that Miss Kate was back I was really excited however her character in this episode was kind of pointless. It felt like the writers asked her to reprise her role just for the sake of it considering they wouldn't even give her a single talking head or a proper name like WHERE IS YOUR PROPER NAME
2. Lets be honest, we all love Richelle for who she is but WHY HAS SHE NOT SAID ANYTHING ABOUT OZZY AND STEP INSIDE 2. I just feel like her storyline in this season should have been a lot more detailed and effective.
3. The fact that we don't get too see the team going to a different country to perform at internationals is sad but I guess it makes season 3 even more iconic. Also, I wish we could see other countries performing dances because it just looks like TNS and the French team (IDK how to spell the name of the team lol) are just having a dance battle.
4. I loved the dances in this episode. I especially love TNS swan small group. I love love love love love Heath's outfit, I think he looks so cool in it and well done to the costume designers 👏👏👏👏👏👏 (I don't care how much money that outfit is I will buy it and treasure it in my wardrobe)
5. I love the fact that Presley is back but like come on. SHE JUST WALKED IN!! LIKE IM SORRY, I AIN'T SEEING NO INVITATION IN YOUR HAND!!
6. FREYA SKYE IS IN THE BUILDING!!! I really like her song and her singing is beautiful but I wish she was a guest judge instead of Miss Kate cuz I know that Freya is British. So why fly across the world just to sing one song. ONE SONG. Like they could have had her interview some of the team members and talking more about the tour with Kenzie. For some reason I would love it if Ariana had a bonding session with Freya. I don't know why I just feel like it's one of those things that NEED to happen.
Ok so those are my thoughts for this episode.
P.S Alesha please prepare yourself for the cliff hanger at the end of episode 22. I won't give any spoilers but all I will say is I was not expecting it and I think they will make a Season 10

I absolutely hated the way they did internationals this year. It's so stupid how we didn't get many dances and we only saw 2 teams dance. I hate that it was at studio A and not somewhere around the world. I thought that was the point but anyways. The dances weren't as good apart from ari solo. Yet again they have failed to re create s3 and it was just garbage. They actually had good charcters this season aswell and I thought it was going well.

I really like the set for international, also it was nice to see briar again but this season feels rushed like really rushed the plots were okay for the first half but yeah

I feel like Internationals in Season 9 was not exciting as Season 3 was, it felt a bit rushed. Season 8 has 27 episodes while Season 9 only has 22 episodes. I love seeing Richelle, Presley, and Miss Kate return in this episode. Team France's dance along with Kenzie was very smooth. I wish that Pete, Jett, and Adele were still in the small group along with Heath so that nothing would change other than adding Pascale in the small group routine. Love seeing Freya, her singing was amazing and I love the interaction with Richelle while doing the opening ceremony. I felt like Adele and Olive should have told Anthony right away once they saw the note. Winnie deserves better, justice for Winnie to return in Season 10.

I just discovered the BIGGEST plot hole in TNS history.
In season 2, when TNS goes to nationals, the commentators say Michelle is looking to defend her nationals soloist title from the previous year
However, seeing as to how the last time she competed at nationals was in the USA nationals (because her team was from Wisconsin) , it makes no sense because of TNS is from Canada Michelle would be competing at Canadian nationals in season 2 not US nationals?
I realised that on a rewatch and I thought no one realiseddd ty for realising this too 😭
I feel like the costumes arnt that big of a deal because I’m sure they would have a spare pair of white leggings in the lost property so maybe they did change Jetts costume from trousers to leggings
