Isagi is great but I would say the closest to being a perfect sports protagonist is Tokuchi Toua from One Outs. It's a baseball anime mixed with mind games where the MC is a genius gambler and prodigious pitcher that overcomes any adversity with his wits. He is arguably the most overpowered sports protagonist I've seen compared to his own verse and is also a lot smarter than even Isagi, Hiruma from Eyeshield 21, Akashi from KnB. His personality is also very unique and enjoyable to watch. If you like watching OP protagonists just decimate their own verse then One Outs is a must watch.
I'm honest: For me, Isagi is the worst written sports anime character. And i understand zero if someone says that he has a compelling backstory, i almost started laughing. He has a super boring backstory - sometimes you even forget that he had one. His backstory is also never really well connected to he upcoming events. His character is also so bland standard, with no interesting kinks, flaws or behaviors that you think he could be a side character. A well written character needs a lot of downfalls and needs to suffer, which he pretty much does less than his teammates all the time. A well written character needs to struggle with himself a lot, struggles that every person can connect to. Not just once every 5 episodes. And he needs to grow by himself in this type of environment, why would it be interesting if he learns like a schoolboy tactics from others? It's boring that Isagi always needs to rely on others and tries to learn skills from other players - it doesn't fit the story of an battle royale at Blue Lock at all, sorry. He is the person who would almost say "yes" to all you ask nicely, which makes his character super lame. The moments where Isagi tries to be edgy also doesn't fit his standard character outside the games a single bit. It feels SUPER forced. Even any other of his teammates would have made a better MC. Even Kaiser, Ness, Aiku or Lorenzo. Also, this characteristics are ones that every anime character in general needs, not really just sports anime characters.
I agree with your list, also i recommend reading the boxer it's a webtoon and, the protagonist is one of the best sports protagonist in fiction😊
So basically make him the Himothy Johnson of Potential aka Megumi the Potential man
