Biden saved us in 2020 when we needed saving, had a very successful Presidency overall, is a good man, and did the right thing now again when we needed him to. He deserves our respect and appreciation for all of that.

It was noble.. I understand the cynicism and the aggressiveness of the press. But I would really like to see some generosity once in a while. He was forced out. And he left the campaign with enormous dignity. Which I have not seen evidenced by the press.

Well said. I believe he was forced out also. I was very angry for quite awhile. The media never gave Predident Biden a chance any anytime to prove himself. He proved himself time and time again he was a better man and better candidate. Now Kamala is in the media as much as trump is makes me feel a little better. We need to get trump out fast. Like I keep saying he’s too old to run for president. He needs to go for very obvious reasons tho

I guess I’m thinking personally; as a person whose views have developed over time. Never pandering but just growing. Campaigning is such a delicate balance. I can defend my own changes which were not 180 but progressively more refined as I learned how to learn about political occurrences.
Oh and with regard to changing, I’m in her DA county; Alameda. In 2020, I felt loyal to her but didn’t resonate with her. Now, I find she’s just blossomed and become dynamic so I changed and I like her more. I feel like she mirrors everyday people.
I need to get over it but it just bugs me that campaigning doesn’t make room for politicians to simply explain how they evolved to where they. Also, it wreaks a little of just how perfect women and minorities have to be to get their foot in the door. Either way; she’s got my vote.

      @@Indigobasil
Well, I am trying to like her. I am your neighbor in Santa Clara county, and I have kept track of Kamala Harris, and Joe Biden of course. Over the years I find myself very critical of all of them.
I think Joe should never have been the candidate, he was the Bernie Sanders dodge play in my opinion. Bernie let him win because he realized it would be all uphill if he were President, so Bernie threw the last debate and cinched Joe as Pres. Then he was able to make demands on Biden. Notice that Bernie has not yet endorsed Kamala.
Then once nominated Biden in order not to have to fight with his VP picked the weakest candidate, just like George Herbert Walker Bush did with Dan Quayle. Biden has been hiding his whole Presidency. That bothered me when Republicans accused him of it, but he was doing an acceptable job if not just not being Trump.
Then when he ran for a second term I was mad as hell because I knew he was a liar, and at this point he was also a lying incompetent. Even so, against Trump I am stuck voting for him. Then finally he acknowledges was a lying SOB he was, whether he was a competent President or not - he could not even read his adbication speech without glaring errors.
And now, come to Kamala. The first notable thing she does is not decide not to attend the most important speech to Congress of Benjamin Netanyahu, to which she is PRESIDENT OF THE SENATE. Then she slams Israel after all the data that has come out of the Middle East about Hamas, UN, UNRWA, Qatari corruption, Iran's massive attack on Israel, .... etc.
It is like she is trying hard to be the most unacceptable whiny baby child president she can be. I've seen her questioning people testifying in the Senate, she asked very simple expected questions, with a nasty tone in her voice, great at scolding people, but never got a think done.
Personally I have two apparently conflicting prioroties, maybe three if you lump Israel and Ukraine together under the catagory of foreign relations.
      1. Is the Bernie agenda, which was imcompetently explained by Bernie as well. He should have switched to being a Democrat and switched from being a Democratic Socialist, which just confused people, to an FDR Democrat. I support some President who can pick up FDR's 2nd Bill of Rights agenda as a platform to run on.
      2. End the Ukraine war, and end Iran's Islamic Regime. If you look at the putrid Islamic countries, every one of them has a failed incompent toxic undemocratic barbaric society that hurts their own people. It must end, and Israel must be free from attack.
Kamala has no clue other than first thought, to pander to the extreme Left - the idiots, the rioters, those who hate America.
      What is she thinking?

Excuse me, but WHERE is everybody (and by that, I mean this podcast and every other I’ve listened to in the last week, as well as every TV news analysis I’ve seen) … where is everybody getting this narrative of “Kamala the prosecutor being an unsuccessful candidate in the era of ‘Defund the Police’” from?? You’re welcome to go back and check the dates, but, as I recall, she withdrew from the Presidential race before there had even been a single primary-literally MONTHS before George Floyd was killed. Why are so many people parroting this myth? Her 2020 campaign closed early because she was unable to get a message through in that crowded field and she ran out of money. That doesn’t say anything about her worth as a candidate now, of course-I believe that she is the right pick for this moment, but I wish people weren’t so lazy when sharing their “insights”.

This episode was such hodgepodge of statements that really led nowhere. The one thing they both did was map out a plan of attack for the Trump campaign based on long-forgotten or even heard of Kamala - basically, really obscure. We've already seen how incompetent the Trump campaign and Republicans in congress are in trying to find things to criticize (border, soft on crime and too hard on crime, she's a DEI hire, ie, any minority hire is a mediocre person). So, shame on you for giving them more fodder for the gristmill which is, in reality, totally irrelevant and will be used by Republicans as far out of context as one can imagine. So shame on you for using your platforms for clicks, rather than providing the larger story re: what each candidate's intentions are and what they hope to implement. Trump: total abortion ban, regardless of the loss of the mother's life, project 2025, written by HIS people, which will absolutely destroy the fabric of America, his pledgeto become a dictator on day one (what dictator did all he wanted to do in one day? Once he has that power (which the SCOTUS has already given him immunity for), he will continue. And what about covering his nonsensical word salad speeches which clearlydemonstrate how much he has mentally deteriorated in the last few years (oh, and the fact that he attempted a coup to illegally overturn a free and fair election over 60 times in court, including the Supreme Court). But let's forget about all that and criticize Harris for a few ambiguous words. Unbelievable.

As far as discussing the '20 record, she needs to conduct some interviews and say since being in the WH and over last few years working with x,y,z '.. my position has evolved'; on the border she needs to discuss more of the detail around border and that R's rejected ( because of Trump ) a conservative bill to address border. There are ways to message, but she has to set the narrative. She should also highlight her work overseas in Munich, etc.

These folks talk about nothing but vibes, usually from the perspective of a political reporter (Biden annoyed reporters because yadda, how how it felt to them to watch so-and-so speak). Their opinions on these matters are not interesting or helpful. These folks have very shallow, horse-race views on politics and can really only talk about who has the hottest ads or whatever. It's garbage.
Maybe get some serious people back on: economists, political scientists, psychologists, demographers, etc. People who might be able to shed some better light on the election, what it means, and what the electorate is "thinking" than people who live by a 24 deadline.

does anyone really believe .. that had biden opted out say after the 2022 midterms .. and there had been a real primary process .. that harris would have emerged as the nominee ?? .. no probably not .. being in the right place at the right time is just luck .. and having no other good options isn't a way to inspire confidence .. let's just hope that enough are sick of trump to vote accordingly ...

Damn. Although not successful, this podcast did more toward bursting my bubble for Kamala Harris than anything else I've listened to. Brutal. And I don't think we can count Pete b out as VP pick yet either.

While it's true that Kamala Harris should avoid talking about the border patrol, because there is enough negativity on what's happened in the last couple of years. . . At the same time she needs to make a quick accurate statement to defend her position. Here is my solution:
    1. The border issue has been hampered for more than 30 years because of politicians wanting to be re-elected . . .that they cannot make a long-term vision of what to do. So political statements becomes dependent on how the public views that issue. Until the politician ends up really saying nothing that would persuade the public. They just talk in response to what the public believes in the moment;
    2. Who really has been in charge of the border issue has been the various groups of border patrols. And they ALL agreed to pass a bi-partisan very conservative legislature what Trump told the Republicans not to pass. This means that the bottom line for Trump is not that what's coming in to this country are insane dangerous people, which course is simply not true. . . It comes back to simply quote "What's in it for me?" and screw everybody else.
President Donald Trump is not just too old, not just he doesn't read or look up to experts for advice, it is simply he is a sick person who should never be president.
Here is a good example. In this latest Al Franken podcast, you mention the horrific decision-making that Trump did at the beginning of the Covid crisis. Saying that that alone, even though we don't want to think about the Covid crisis anymore, that alone should be enough not to make him president. But you also admit that Trump in the end began the right track in dealing with Covid, yet Biden gets the lion's share of the correctness in dealing with this crisis.
But why is this? Why is it that we all can make decisions that initially were mistakes but then in the end we come to the correct way to deal with the problem?
May I suggest two solutions to this:
One is that we have not yet received all the facts to make a correct decision...
...and the other is that we are too self-centered to listen to another's points of view.
But in Trump's case, it really has to do with that he's COMPLETELY selfish. His decision-making always seems to be "What is in it for me?" Which politicians all have this to some degree because they're trying to get re-elected..but because we the public ,our level of attention, our level of being able to study, can be very low, it takes much longer for us and people like Trump to make the correct decision.
But for Trump it's ALL "What's in it for me?" From the very beginning to the very end.
THAT is why it makes now more sense for Trump to say, when he looked at in front of him the graves at Arlington cemetery...
"I don't get it. What's in it for them?"
. . .and later, calling them "SUCKERS!"
    Also...
"I don't care for heros!"... so, like Elon Musk, tries to persuade the ignorant by saying something like
I am going to make you richer, and you will make me richer.

Good news: Harris vs Trump are statistically tied in the polls. Bad news: Harris has to win by more than 6 points given the electoral map, or more than 9 points in polls give 3% MOE.

Congressman [Tim]othy Ryan (50) or Admiral William McRaven (69) is more than a "satisficing" option for the Vice-President candidacy. Admiral McRaven would be an optimal contributor to (a) national security formulations, (b) education policy offerings as chancellor emeritus of the University of Texas, and (c) politically to garner electoral votes from North Carolina: McRaven's home state. Congressman Ryan would bring to the Vice-President candidacy (a) two decades of legislative and deliberating experiences, (b) extraction of electoral votes from his home state of Ohio, and (c) countervailing clout to J. D. Vance: the Republican choice for the Vice-President cabdidacy who is also from Ohio.

In response to Al's non- explanation/explanation of the problem of 2 women in position of prez/vp of course the question being the answer. As for Elaina's question how did we get here in regard to the quick & succinct attack on Shapiro being a Jew, where has she been we've always been there. Maybe she meant when did we get to the point where it's OK to say it out loud? A good show as you know for a change.

Please disregard. This is a test post to see if my comments will actually post (to any channel).
No, we DO NOT have open borders. Please think this through. If that's the case, then how is it that America ...
    - Has substantial barriers and surveillance equipment along the border
    - Border patrol makes millions of arrests per year
    - Has detention centers
None of that would be there if we have open borders the way Republicans want people to believe.
All of this is easily provable (as is both Obama and Biden admins with significant deportation rates). Please ... please be more skeptical of where you're getting your information, because it IS NOT factual.
