    We'll use Voicemeter Banana and VB-Audio Cable which you can download here:

    So I may have figured something out. Now, I haven't installed Dolby yet but after reinstalling Windows I found the discrepancy between the volume of PUBG and the system sound (PUBG's volume was lower than the system sound at the volume mixer for some reason. The green bars whenever a sound is played did not match.) disappeared. That actually enhanced my volume quite a bit. I used to have ridiculously loud gun sound (to the point where I have to sacrifice hearing footsteps to protect my ears) and now that's gone. Still, PUBG's volume is ridiculously small. I will try to install Dolby later and share the result.

    Hey :)
    Maybe I will try out these programms you talk about - it was very interesting so keep up the nice work!
    A lot of times I am frustrated of pubg sounds... and even more with my new soundcard... every sound is so different, so loud and confusing.
    Right now, I start to thinkt that I will send the soundcard back, because the sound is horrible or, and this is the question, can I use these programms with
    the soundcard too ? Is there any problem ?
    Thanks and Greetz from Germany

      Thanks for your fast response!
      I tried it yesterday and overall it works and im happy with that.
      But yeah, some gun shots sound crazy but its just a matter of time I think.
      Right now, I have some issues with my microphone... Cannot use it in teamspeak or discord anymore...
      Do you know the problem ?
      Thanks

      Make sure that your microphone is set as the default recording device in Windows (little green checkmark), or manually select your Microphone in Discord and Teamspeak. The default device was probably automatically set to some Voicemeter device while installing the software.

  • @AndreasRiddering
    @AndreasRiddering 6 років тому +1

    Okay, thats not toooo complicated to setup, but talking about the delay Solrosen was talking about I was wondering, if the Loudness setting wouldn't be fair enough?
    Wenn I open up my sound devices and open the settings for me headphone (Astro A50) and open the tab "Enhancement" I've got the option to enable "Loudness Equalization".
    The description says: Loudness Equalization uses understanding of human hearing to reduce perceived volume differences.
    To me this description and the results too sounds like standard audio compressing. The white background noise gets louder, while shots are being fired the overall volume goes down.
    On the other hand you can't change that much settings, its only possible the change the Release Time in 6 steps from "Short" to "Long" with no concrete values given. Kinda sucks, need to fiddle around with that ...
    But anyway. Wouldn't it be worth it, to point users to those "simple Loudness Equalization" options, if available, before trying this software solution?

    • @ERPL_TV
      @ERPL_TV  6 років тому +1

      I tried the loudness equalization once, but felt like the compression via Voicemeter Banana leads to a better result. I'll look more into this soon

    • @AndreasRiddering
      @AndreasRiddering 6 років тому +1

      Yeah, I assume, that it should be better in question of compression rate and fine tuning of release time. But the question I have, is it really that much better, that its worth for non-technical PUBG players to use this extra software compared to simply turn on that one option.
      You know, to me it seams that with this software you can achieve many more things than simply compress the signal a little bit. To non-tech users there is always a potential to mess around and have "worse settings" than it would be with simply turning loudness on.
      So lets say, if the result of the loudness thing is about ~70-80% as good as with the software solution, is it still worth it? I mean, if with Voicemeeter Banana the result is more than 2x better, no question, just use it, but otherwise I would prefer to stick to the non-software solution just 'cos I like to keep things simple ...
      Don't get me wrong, I don't wanna convince you not to use it anymore... ;-) I am simply interested what would be the "overall best solution" ...
      Additionally but maybe hard to analyse, is there less delay (if any) if it uses the "build in" thing compared to a software that needs to buffer? Turning on the setting needs to buffer something too i guess, maybe, it leads to the same delay (if any)?
      Do you have got any idea how to measure if there is any delay and if, how big it is? maybe record a video of single shots and try to step through it frame per frame!? I dont know ... just a thought ....

    • @ERPL_TV
      @ERPL_TV  6 років тому

      Hey Andreas! I tested the lag and compared No-Effects, "Voicemeter Banana" and Windows "Loudness Equalization". "Voicemeter" does add more Lag than "Loudness Equalization", but I still prefer it, because you can configure it as you like. The compression with "Loudness Equalization" is a bit too strong for my taste. The background noise is so loud with it!

    and what about the distances ? can I distinguish how long a shot come from ?

    • @ERPL_TV
      @ERPL_TV  6 років тому +1

      I think for long range sounds from shots and vehicles it makes no real difference. If you could hear it before, you can still hear it. If you couldn't distinguish the direction before, this probably won't help. You need a decent headset and sometimes it's still difficult because the sound of PUBG is pretty bad. I sometimes wiggle a bit around with the mouse while the shot is still hearable to find the direction.

    • @caematos
      @caematos 6 років тому +1

      ERPL I was just concerned about the distances, because if the shot is too distant, the sound is lower... And if it equalizes the sounds volumes, it could be a problem

    • @ERPL_TV
      @ERPL_TV  6 років тому +1

      Oh you mean the distance, not the direction! Sorry my bad, I misunderstood that. Well it's still possible to distinguish shots from different distances, because depending on how much you turn up the compressor in Voicemeter Banana the sounds are evened out. Even with the setting activated not every shot will sound the same.

      @ERPL_TV  5 років тому +1

      it should partly work, but I haven't tested it. I can't really help you with the exact settings that you need to set. anyway it's not possible to select single applications like pubg to use one specific audio device in Windows 7. so you have to disable the compression after playing or else your whole audio on your PC will be compressed all the time, which will be annoying. my recommendation is: don't do it! just upgrade to Windows 10

    One thing you and many others forget to mention tho about adding Banana and a compressor to your audio is that it adds a pretty hefty audio DELAY. That's the reason i stopped using voice meter banana cuz the delay honestly makes quite the difference, it lies around .25 to .50 seconds and may seriously mess your gaming experience up...
    This CAN however be fiddled with to lower the delay in the options menu under "buffering", however stepping away from default can break your sound and if so, default is the only viable option :/
    Nice video tho.

      Thanks for your feedback! I tried a bit around to see if the sound is delayed. I did not measure, just tried ingame and think it feels OK. I altered those buffering settings once, but didn't feel a difference in delay.

      ERPL You're welcome. I personally can notice the delay in sound and the lessened quality in audio with the Banana compressor, however honestly the audio levels are so infuriatingly bad in pubg that having a slight delay to save yourself from permanent hearing loss or tinnitus is in reality pretty darn worth it. I just stumbled upon your video on the reddit and it kinda made me rethink to start using it again. And now with the only visible good thing with the latest windows patch you can now make the compression exclusive to pubg, however I have no idea how to do that, I guess I'll fiddle around with it.

      I realized re-watching your guide that it literally makes it so that ONLY PUBG is compressed and leaves discord and all else in the blue.
      So I tried to set up Banana, weirdly enough I can't use WDM only MME, when i use WDM my sound is all crackling and distorted to hell so I figured MME would have to do.
      When i was done setting it up and ran a test game, however in PUBG and ONLY PUBG the sound is crackling and distorted, I'm at a loss here :/
      Not sure what is causing this issue, and I also don't know why I can't use anything else besides MME.
      Any advice would be great.

      I fixed this on my end by going into Menu > System Settings and changing the buffer for WDM to 160 (i tested the lowest and went higher and higher while audio was playing, you want the lowest value possible)

      Can you use a different sound card/output jack? for me it's working perfectly for months, but I had problems in the beginning with a USB sound card
