I built three of them before work today and I’m just in love with them. I don’t know how to explain it but there’s just something about having them, physically, in my hand, admiring the shape of them, it just makes me squee with joy.
Honestly, seeing them in grey and white makes the design more appealing with the ear mufflers not looking like one massive part of the helmet and probably be better off painted a different color if i was to get these
100% agree. The faces maketh the mini. Surprisingly they are more enticing than I assumed they would be. Can definitely see a Squat gang being my next venture in Necromunda (or Gorkamorka). They need more beards though!
I really like the enclosed helmet that covers the face, its almost identical to the original Squat mercenary from 1987 - my favourite RT and 40k Squat ever made. If there were enough enclosed helms for all of them, I'd build a box in the same style as the original Squat. With the scale creep, these look about the same size as RTB01 space marines.. maybe fractionally bigger. Skilled conversion kitbashers will eye these up for Kharadron Overlords. So if the Squats are back, I'll put my name down for plastic Fimir right now and cross my fingers.. c'mon Fimir.
Another wonderful video about a game I’ve tried to get into just didnt click for me. You’re enthusiasm is infectious. Keep up the great work! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾🤩👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
As a stand alone skirmish game it is not GW’s best. Where the game really shines is in the campaign system. The longer the campaign goes on the better it gets.
I bought the initial revamp box set in 2017 and I was hugely disappointed to be honest. The 1995/2002 Necromunda rules were very crunchy but very immersive and great fun once learned properly. The old metal ganger minis are untouchable classics too imo. Modern GW is a pale shadow of the creative juggernaut it used to be. Some of their plastic kits are really nice but in terms of rules and lore/narrative the company is just gone.
Those old Squats look great; especially that Bob Olly las-gunner. I like the new ones too. What a cool frame. Those bolters and autoguns look to have a decent amount of ammo; just what Space Marines could do with. I think it could be fun to get some Kharadron Overlord hand weapons for conversion work; also maybe use some Kharadron bodies to make lightly armoured Juvies? Thanks for the size comparison; that is always useful when dreaming up kit-bashing projects. 👍
Oi! Look at dem stunties! ;) A buddy, classmate, bought a bunch of RT-era Squats when me and some other friends played 2nd Ed.. Don´t think he ever played and that they are still over there.. Tempted to check out.
Like every Necromunda model, they look so much better in real life! It's a shame you only get 2 of the fully enclosed helmets in the box though. I'm looking forward to doing a squat gang guide as soon as I get hold of the new book. Great stuff my dude :)
Ball-socket arms and heads is a real plus! You could use the classic squats as juves with flak or something. Eggshell white - I like what you did there ;)
I definitely wish they had options for the entire team to have those full welding mask I think they look super cool and give them a bit of a mysterious look to them. Those and the Ironkin dome helmets from the Votann are really unique.
I painted a box of Wargames Atlantic's Einherjar in more 'traditional' Squat colours and they look great. They've got a bit more cloth than either the new Squats or LoV, so I don't know how well it would go with all that armour.
Currently building my own squat gang atm and while I think they’re great (big dwarf fan) I’m fairly disappointed with this set. The weapons are far too similar, with the only difference in their two handed guns being the magazine or the length of the muzzle, with very limited melee weapons. Hoping for more weapon options in the future
Always happy to see a new Gang in Necromunda both because Necromunda is that other system I’m happy to collect everything for but also it allows you(me) to make that “Mass Effect Suicide Squad” or “Borderlands Vault Hunters” for Stargrave Roleplaying. For Rock and Stone!
That is one elite team. Reminds me of the Dwarf Treasure Hunters from Mordheim. The mercs or skaven would be trying to squeeze as many bodies as possible onto the table, then you roll up with four beards and go to work. Out of curiosity, how do these compare in terms of size to K.O./Fyreslayers? Could one comfortably kitbash between them or are the squats just too beefy?
Okay. So they are shrunken space marines. 28mm bases huh. I don't understand why GW has to make their models so huge. Space marines, I get. But Sisters of Battle, Eldar and now Squats? They're probably going to up the size of the new Astra Militarum next creating a scale creep race. Then Marines won't be true scale enough anymore, lol. I can see ten years down the road people showing up to a 40K game with a UHaul truck full of life sized mannequins.
@@mycatistypingthis5450 I bought the new (then) Blood Bowl when it first dropped in 2016. Once I realized all my 2nd and 3rd edition blood bowl models where tiny in comparison to the new scale I immediately turned around and sold it. It's just shitty. GW is a shit company.
We dig dig dig dig dig dig dig in our mine the Whole day through To dig dig dig dig dig dig dig is what we really like to do It ain't no trick to get rich quick If you dig dig dig with a shovel or a pick In a mine! In a mine! In a mine! In a mine! Where a million diamonds shine!
There's bound to be rules for the Leagues of Votann when they arrive later this year, but it seems like Squats will be Necromunda-only. At least officially.
I was on the fence, but have just fallen off thanks to this - a box of these will be winging their way to me! They'll be used in Stargrave and Space Weirdos for sure, also they'll no doubt get a run out in the sci-fi game Uncle Atom is about to release as well. As for the size of them - well, they're just big boned, right?
Oof, four guys is 1,000 credits? I have a venators force using the squat stat line and they were armed pretty well at the get go and I got 7 in my 1,000 credit roster. I’ll be interested to see what’s better in the new prospectors.
I miss the gambeson look. Though these guys look like they have old timey space suits so I am fine with this change for necro. Some of those guns might be stone burners.
This is an important question but for me it doesn't matter too much since I'm so stoked for the revenge of the Squats! (Return- I mean return 🤣🤣😉🤣) but it's kind of as to be expected . Rogue Trader era Space Marines compare kind of unfavourably to their mk 6 cousins from a more recent run. And I'm not even talking about Primaris. I mean proper Space Marines before they pigged 🐖🐽🐗 out on growth hormones ... But like I say it's as expected . It follows the Warhammer trend of making everything bigger and chunkier than older school minis.
I have to admit I’m a little disappointed with the squat models. Especially seeing the one with the over the shoulder drill bit it looks so much like a karadon overlord
Isn’t necromunda’s minis in a slightly larger scale then 40K? I know the scales arnt set in stone and that 40K scale seems to be increasing, but that might make it tricky to use squats in LoV?
To big for my taste. Much to big to look like squats. Good part is that they match with Kharadron Overlords very well - more than sure digital assets were reused for them.
I don't know why but the squats, with the full helmets, remind me on the Sontarins from classic Dr Who: i0.wp.com/olddoctorwho.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/doctor-who-invasion-time-sontaran.jpg?fit=459%2C470&ssl=1 Really loving all the new Necromunda stuff coming out!

Agreed. Wasn't that keen before seeing them but they look much better than the original photos.
Totally, after watching this I went back to Deep Rock to get paint scheme ideas, they look so much cooler unpainted
@@bombarded15 "For Rock and stone!"
Just need to scale up the rest of the GW line to make these guys squat size. They are giants!
100% agree. The faces maketh the mini.

The longer the beard the more deadly the Dwarf/Squat. It’s where their power comes from.

@@craigjones7343 true for Blood Bowl also.

Great video. I got a box of these and a Start Collecting Greywater Fastness to combine. The gyrocopter is so getting made into an Ash Waste vehicle.

The new squat armor looks a lot more like power armor than carapace armor.
Was thinking the same thing.
Probably a good idea to go with the Autoguns instead of Bolters to start and try to squeeze in at least one extra Digger (juve)
Oi! Look at dem stunties! ;)

I'm going to hold out hope (probably in vain) that they'll release plastic weapon upgrade kits for the Ogryn, Squats, and Nomads.
The circle is complete, GW finally brought Starcraft Marines to the tabletop =D

I agree, the faces look better than the full mask. Especially the one with a soul patch.
They've taking their vitamins and saying their prayers to get jacked, brother.
DRINK DRUGS STAY IN MILK DONT DO SCHOOL!
I too like the "Big Reveal".
I was a bit unsure about how I felt about their faces, but now I'm inclined to go half and half when I go to build my set. Surprisingly well executed!

It’s like big brothers and little brothers except the little ones are older lol 😸
Whole pieces beats the current "jigsaw" assembly that GW has been doing.

Excuse you, there’s *two* Squat hired guns in resin for Necromunda. 😉😆
love this format
My son on new vs old squats: "Take your kid to work day"
I'm so hyped for these!
Ash, seeing the RT squats up close…I really love the scheme.
Can you break that down for us?

I don't disagree, but Necromunda (and I think Blood Bowl) already was larger, they are 32 mm compared to the 30 much of GW has crept up to.

How do I glue the legs on the charter master I'm having trouble with my copy specifically the left leg
I like your intro
How do they size up to other dwarf models like the KO? Very curious 🤔
My guess is that they would fit right in with Thunderers.
Makes me want to watch "Heavy Metal", again!
How many models are in the box and at what price ?
Wow tthyey are big now still a box though and I guess that's all that matters.
What scale are those figures, 1/ 35, or 1/42?
How are scaled next to guard of both eras?
Those aren't squats, they are mini ogryns.
Hail all
This new squats look fantastic. Much better than I thought they would. Thanks for the review
I have to admit I’m a little disappointed with the squat models. Especially seeing the one with the over the shoulder drill bit it looks so much like a karadon overlord
you might need 2 or 3 aos space dwarves to have guys out of carapace armour.
Only 8 per box? Ugh..
When they have Squat biker gangs with the old man sidecar, call me 😉 Smell that GW desperation...

Paint them like Lunar Astronauts. Nice
Gotta get me some Genestealer Cults too! 🤣🤣😁yeah to canibalise for my squats but also coz Genestealers are cool. 😎😎😎🎅
Primaris Squats. Joking aside I really like these dudes - haven't bought anything from GW in a couple of years but feeling very tempted by these.
Yeah, keep the helmet off every time. Keep those adorable beardy faces on display!
Hm, i cant help me, i feel the new squats are way to big.
Liking these a lot better without the masks like you've done. Huge difference.
They look amazing! Shame about the price hike, 8 instead of 10. They look great though.
I do not love the diving suit look.
the new squats look horrible
