    Great video! I thought it was pretty thorough and easy to follow. Good camera views put you right in the action.

    Thanks for the video. My radiator petcock wouldn't open. I worked some plastic up behind the hoses and pump to direct the coolant away from the belts and alternator. As I pulled or loosened hoses it all went into a big tray underneath. Wiggle the pump body out slowly and the last gush of water can be controlled too.
    Get a tube of silicone grease. I used NAPA Sil-Glide.

    Good video. Had a shop replaced mine on my 2013 F150 5.0 back in 2018. I have a good leak now and looks to be coming from the water pump again.

    at 3:30 that hose and "Y" assembly are notorious for failing and leaking... Replace if you haven't recently.

      @@cprince7749 It's the O-rings that go bad. Hoses have some, that T connector has one. I had already replaced the ones on the hoses, the one on the T connector went bad, found a 3 pack the had the O ring for the T connector for $6 on Ebay. Replaced and leak gone. Cheaper than buying the part.

    Nice video. I just finished this job, one comment maybe useful is when you get to that spot where the a/c belt is very tight against tensioner pulley of other belt that you can rotate the pulley slightly there is a sweet spot that lets the belt slip right in no force needed.

I have now be working for 6 hours on mine and it will not budge. all bolts are off. have tapped it with a hammer as well as tried to pry it out...and nothing???? any ideas. 2013 Ford F150 STX 5.0

    What's the average time it takes to replace that? I have a 2013 f150 5.0 and I think my water pump just went bad. Had it towed to Ford,so I was just curious how long it took

    • @ronniedickerson7899

      Yeah, that's what I was about to question how long it takes to change it out! Looks to be around 30 minutes or so! But when you take it to the dealership or an auto mechanic it takes them around 6 hours or more! I have seen them work in the auto shop and they take their time will walk around with a rag in their hands and walk around and get coffee and walk around talking and laughing with the other workers in the shop! When they get through they even go get them another cup of coffee and it takes at least the whole day and charge you after working on it 6 hours or more! That is the reason I don't take mine to the dealership! LMAO

    Nice work...I'm wondering if every Ford mechanic would be so through about replacing the contaminated belts and cleaning off the pulleys??? Curious though, if your in the pump already would you recommend replacing the thermostat along with all of the hoses and that "Y" assembly?

      Man i had to update this comment. This video is extremely helpful, the camera angles and explanation is excellent. Most will just focus on the obvious things where lots get stuck are on the little things. Definitely coming back again when i need to replace this. This is even better than the "mainstream" car repair videos. Keep making videos.

    So, right at 11:36, when you removed the thermostat housing, since you didnt place anything there to deflect all the coolant from running all down inside the alternator, how did the alternator work or last after that?

    • @Gatorsrok
      @Gatorsrok 4 роки тому +5

      Just rinse it out with water if your worried about it... pull the battery terminal off obviously and let it dry for a bit... This isnt a 1980's alternator, theyre sealed just for that reason, to keep away outside contamination....

    That coolant ain’t the right color. Looks red. That system originally came with orange and within the last 3 years has switched to yellow.
