UPDATE: tbh, if you are giving birth with epidural, its the hardest part but its worth it. It took a bit to get the needle in cause of scoliosis but other than that its worth it.
I had to get one yesterday for a non birth related procedure..but I'm pregnant. Listen...epidurals are so not bad it's like a tiny flu shot in your lower back. Barley hurt at all. And the medicine is amazing!! Never felt so relaxed and happy in my life. Recomend strongly!
Thank you so much. I'm currently 20 weeks pregnant and have been told to think about the epidural. I watch a video seen the needle and was 100% against it like nooope!! After hearing this I think I would probably take it if my first choice of birth pool went wrong!
Scottish Megan I'm 5 months pregnant, my sister had a rough experience with the epidural but I honestly think I won't be able to handle the labor pain so I'm definitely gonna get it ,it basically numbs your lower body and makes it easier to give birth
I didn't even feel the pinching the numbness is so strong you don't even know it's going in plus for me I was pretty loopy at the time from the other meds being pushed.. this is nothing to worry about
Like everything else in life, not all practitioners are created equal. In skilled, experienced hands, an epidural should hurt less than a blood draw or having an IV started.
When I got an epidural, I was stabbed in the vertebrae 6 times while trying to find the space between. The worst pain I've ever experienced! What do you recommend for women who have small spaces between their vertebrae?
I’ve heard a lot of the same so I appreciate the consistency. My question is, how do you know how to push if you can’t feel yourself? I’m just a kid that likes anatomy so I don’t have kids but I could imagine that would be pretty frustrating to figure out if you were a first time mother right?
For me I felt alot pressure in my lower region( near my anal area), they also do vaginal checks to see how far along you are. Once you hit 10cm dilated then you start to push. Your body just naturally knows. Plus the nurses also have you hooked up with belt around the tummy that detects contractions and monitors the baby's heart beat.
i think it's probably more like the procedure done for ingrown toenails, they just use a cold spray and then a numbing shot, it burns like a little mother for like 10-15 seconds then u only feel pressure on ur toe, so i'm guessing it's like that but with your whole back and lower body
Probably because you didn’t feel the contractions, or else you would of said the contractions were the worst part if you would of felt them by not getting the epidural.
@@jessicarivera1469 My thoughts exactly!! You don't know how bad it gets if you got an epidural. Many women don't seem to know the contraction pain exponentially intensifies toward the end.
Yes, i waited till abour 9hrs in, i had to be induced . They numbed me up, then 2 Sec later they started inserting the needle in, mind you I had 0hours of sleep, was having contractions, and I have arthritis is my spine. I was just super sensitive already. The pressure I had while pushing was really bad. Almost like I had to poop out a humongous baby😂😂
I felt electric shock like feeling during epidural and now 9 months later that place hurts where I felt that shock . My first epidural was very good but this one is unsuccessful. I had back pain for months only now back pain is gone but at the site of injection still pain and discomfort
U still feel it. Getting my tubes tied right afterwards was the craziest. It made me nauseous. And the fact that I could smell my insides burning. & All they do is droop a curtain to block off that area... I prob wouldn't have taken it to well to see my guts spread out like that while being wide awake anyways. I was just really physically numb everywhere instead. Feeling all paralyzed
Are you honestly saying you don't feel the needle go through your spine well I've had 3 epidurals and yes you can feel it my 3rd one actually hurt and another thing lol you say you might only feel pressure not pain is 100% not true the epidural stopped working for me at 10 cm dilated and during the pushing I felt everything
has anyone have lifelong chronic back pain made it thru without the epidural? i dont really want it due to disc degenerative disease and other back related problems worried it will make my back worse or paralyzed. but at the same time i want it because my pain level tolerance has gone down so much i had to cave in to take 600 mg three times a day. ( i reduced it to one 300 mg while preg i tried to get off of it but started to go desperate ( chronic insomnia) to sleep. im 33 at 21 weeks first time alone...
Getting my epidural was so painful and my husband had to hold me to help keep me from flinching away because of the pain. I also felt my contractions and my labor was painful. Does that mean my epidural was done wrong?
I m having chronic back pain ..aftr my c section delivery ..its been 9 years now..lower back pain ..is not going..what should i do ..? kindly help..they missed the epidurals many times..i want to get rid of this back pain..it get worst when i stand or sit for a long..
Epidural was great for me during my last labor in which I was induced, having contractions during helped take my mind off the process and being high on gas and air also helped 🤣
When I got my first epidural I felt absolutely nothing at all, big shout out to that anesthesiologist ! BUT the last 2 that I got hurt like hell! I am pregnant again and due in 3 months and I am terrified because I know I will need pain relief but afraid to get the epidural again 😩
I've seen and heard so many women say that the epidural didnt hurt or wasn't bad. And maybe things in medicine have changed a lot in the past decade and a half but I had the absolute worst experience with my epidural. It literally felt like someone stabbed me in my back with a knife. It was excruciating and I've never screamed so load and cried so hard. It felt like I was being tortured alive. Well, I am about to get my first shot but I was told that if they hit your nerve in your spine it really hurts so do u think it's better to do it while being asleep ?

There are several ways to minimize or actually completely eliminate the "burns like a mother" sensation.
