I miss the hell out of this phone and Blackberry as a whole. My how I wish they would make a updated version of the Passport with top of the line specs, FULL KEYBOARD, top of the line build quality, BB os and with the Google Play Store. I would buy it again SO FAST!
I have had my SE since 2014. It is still going strong. I absolutely love it and I will cry when the time comes to get a different one. I have dropped it more times than I can count, with out a case. I actually wore out a case and the phone is still in good shape. A few chips and scratches and a slight crack in the screen on the side. I hardly notice it. I still have mine, and this is really an iconic phone. I wish BB still make some EVEN JUST A midrange phone.I should give my SE a try for a week. 🤩 thank you for a nostalgic revisiting review. Awesome!
They stole mine and I almost cried! It's a great phone...best sounding speakers. BB OS is the best smartphone operating system ever made. Can't believe he didn't mention BB10 first introduced the swipe gesture to close apps years before the iPhone.
Silly me, I just ordered one. Decided a minimalist approach to communications, but I want to be able to better read tech PDFs. Would you consider doing a full 2020 tips and tricks video to show how to set it up as best as possible? There are a few posts and vids to get Google services going, but hard to say what still works today. Thank you!
Update: love the Passport. Managed to install what I need, BlackBerry Hub is fantastic for all my accounts. Love using it for books and docs. Got a Slimport adapter to output to hdmi for a little pico projector to make camping trips fun (old school download mp4 to 128gb sd card). Google store for a couple of apps, Waze works, WhatsApp, Spotify, Kindle app, ebook app. Wish I could get Cisco AnyConnect working to ssh to my boxes if need be. Wasn’t successful so far. Happy so far.
I honestly come bacl to these videos because I MISS THIS DEVICE! The Passport, the Classic, and many more BlackBerry devices were AMAZING! I even miss the chatting app. I once even called the company to ask them please to come back and see if they still have this device but the employee there referred me to Amazon and EBAy. That's really sad. I really hope they come back. Hust I want them to come back with better designs (but keep the Passport and add some innovations to it) and keep Android and the messaging app without any ads.
Back when smartphone was on the rise, its was tough playing catch up. Now that smartphone innovations have peaked, I think it’s perfect time to jump back back in. I hope Blackberry really does that. Blackberry hub is legendary.
That’s BlackBerry in a nutshell. Sell a really unique phone like a passport, see the initial offering sell out, and then DON’T BOTHER MAKING ANOTHER ONE! This was my favorite BlackBerry and it wasn’t even close. I’d pay a pretty penny for a passport two but I guess that ain’t gonna happen anytime soon.
I have a white BlackBerry Passport and i'm using it for 5 year. I still love it more than my Google Pixel and LG G4 even my BlackBerry Priv. Also BB os is not limited if u look for what you want seriously , I have Instagram on it and I installed google chrome and steam even Discord. I was able to install some real games like WOTB on it as well but it makes phone hot so I just stopped playing with it to keep it healthy. At last the only thing i'm going to say is : BlackBerry is love - BlackBerry is life
I'm virtually always between at least 2 devices (currently watching on my Priv, moto g7 play laying on the dresser), but the primary need behind that is having something I can give to my toddlers and not having to worry about it. The world I find myself in, personally is: I'm torn between letting BlackBerry go and "upgrading" to somn modern, because there are many aspects of BlackBerry phones that are far superior to most other manufacturers (solid construction and overall build quality, design, the grippy soft back, features, shortcuts, fun factor and tactile feedback, legacy/nostalgia/conversation starters, that unique "Floss factor" of having somn that I know you don't have, etc etc). I've tried quite a few handsets, many (many!) of them "flagship" tier - that lack a ton of features, while boasting about the latest and greatest, and turn a tap of a key (to txt my boss) or a short hold of a key (to call my friend) into a drag of 4+ menu/submenu operation. Nothing so far has come close.
I've had mine since August 2015, and am still using it. It's wonderful for what I use it for, and sturdy as an ox. The battery life is still excellent after all this time. The speaker phone is still the best I have ever used or heard about from other people from their iPhones.
Typing this on the intl passport also have the key2 which is nice but really can't stand the android send simple group text is a chore on the key2 w/spying android. Lastly the passport has better reception and call quality lastly the key2 doesn't even give you stereo speakers?!?!

The best keyboard of any blackberry the speakers are incredible, also it has a very distinct antenna which makes the range and. Call quality excellent and the battery life is outstanding
I'm using my Passport since 2015, it is the 4 round corners edition, and yes, the apps limitation is depressing even side loading can't do the full trick for the 2 apps I would like to use daily (like grocery coupons and special bank cards). However, it is the most perfect machine that combines exquisite intuitive use for work and leisure including whenever the kids whant cartoons from netflix or youtube videos, it just keeps on giving and fulfilling all my needs. I bought a key 2 and much to my full fledged discontent it is a piece of sh¤t and total waste of money. The Passport beats it by far! The key2 screen and display abilities are quite inferior, the pictures/photos and the sound too. Having to use both hands to handle my passport is a quality I find beyond practical, since not only I type quite faster, I don't put myself into dangerous situations like driving and texting, and it never slips my hands and cracks on the floor.
I love this ,was so wooow when I opened the box ! Still using one ! I remember when I bought one ,I ordered and I traveled about 50 miles to take the order, can't wait for next day delivery ! Xxx
I bought a BlackBerry Q10 White in 2014 and it's still almost perfectly functional. Except the massively decreased battery life there are no other issues with it but the lack of apps in the BB OS is making it kind of a pain in the ass to use it in 2020
Hey man, i am new to this channel and i binge watch kind of retro techs or smartphones of the past, and i have kind of found channels of ipods or nokia phones that they review on but i couldn't find a channel dedicated to retro or old blackberry phones. Really love your in depth reviews and i would love to see you grow and see more older blackberry phones review. Cheers mate. A fan from the other side of the world
I am hanging on to my Passport with the faintest hope that BB will somehow come to their senses and reactivate BB10 (11?) realizing how many people out there clamor for blackberries. I bought an AT&T prepaid sim card for it so I am using it primarily as a communication device (texting, phone calls, e-mails). I do have an iPhone 8 as my primary....
Lol. They used to call this Sponge Bob Square phone. Was it mandatory back then for this phone to download Google Play to play your music from your memory card?
Instagram totally worked on the BlackBerry Passport. The AppStore had at least two 3rd party apps that I knew of which ran natively and allowed you to post to Instagram and if you wanted the official Instagram you could just side load it and it worked flawlessly since it never needed google services. It worked so well in fact it’s a mystery to me why Instagram refused to hit the upload button and put it on the AppStore 🤷🏻♂️ conspiracy theories anyone?
I now use the BlackBerry Secure Punkt. MP 02 as my main device and enable the mobile hotspot with unlimited data feature for using my Note 20 Ultra 5G online until my carrier lights up 5G. This could be used like that with a tablet. Passport for essential communications and whatever tablet for the rest.
I had the Z10 first, then Passport SE, and the last one - PRIV. BB is still in my heart. With these devices, I was always in the center of attention during business meetings. It was difficult to find something new instead of BB which left the market. After some Chinese brands, I found Pixel.... It`s really good enough but it doesn't have a soul like BB.
I have 2. One that is ATT battery doesn't last as long as my other. I'm not near them now so i don't know which models. Att one has metal band and other one i changed the keyboard to red..it's a sharp one that i personalized.
I have been switching from phone to phone every year from 2009! From the Nokia N-Series to iPhone 12 Pro till now I have used about 15-20 phones and watched and tried a dozen more. Of all that, Blackberry Passport is my #1. It's my most favorite and I got it in 2015 and had it till end of 2017. The longest I have used a phone. I wish Blackberry Passport 2 comes up in 2021 with top of line specs but retain the display size, build and screen and allow the basic apps.
Thanks for the video. I own 2 BB Passport,. Bought a black one in 2014 and love it so much I bought a second one, the SE six month later. Both are still active. They are perfectly usable in most situations but for two: «action» video games (I could not care less...) and museum apps. Those last ones are, it seems, made for the very latest release of Androïd and Ipad OS so even my 5 years old iPad mini does not work with them. Although I would not recommend to buy a Passport now, if you happen to find one for little money, you should not be disappointed. One thing the BB Passports have and no other phone has is this: a perfect fit with your shirt pocket. With my hiking shirt there is this wonderful fit: the right shirt pocket has a zipper and lo and behold: the Passport just fits in and I can secure the phone with the zipper. When you are deep in the woods, you sure don't want to lose your phone-aka-gps-aka map storage. Since there is nowhere in sight a replacement smart phone with this same form factor, I think I will keep them for a long, long time. Another plus is the default use of square photos. People seems to forget that square snapshots was «de rigueur» for professional photogaphers not a long time ago: the Hasselblad pro square format was the standard for Life and National Geographic reporters. Remember the Appolo 11 crew snapshots ? They were square format. I like it because it also removes one stupid question when you want to take a picture in a hurry: vertical or horizontal ? The rectangular format also forces you to have two sets of skill when one should do. Not so with the Passport.
My Key One screen fell off and the ribbon tore yesterday, I just started using my Passport SE again this morning. I"ve been smiling ever since, I've always loved this phone. Blackberry should really look at all of the videos about there phones and make a decision to start producing them again at a lower price point. I believe that would draw in more new customers. I'm actually going to rebuild my Key One this week because i really like the phone, just not the screen falling off constantly....
So does the email services still work by just imputing your email addresses for the hub? No makeshift fix or workaround? If so, not bad to have as a detox phone for weekends.
Hi, Thanks for the Video! I have some queries, I am planning to buy BB Passport Phone - was wondering if it would be a good idea, especially in 2020. My Usage : 1. Email 2. Text Messages 3. Thanks, Roger. I appreciate it
I just bought an q10 and it's very usable. At least for digital minimalism.
I love this ,was so wooow when I opened the box ! Still using one ! I remember when I bought one ,I ordered and I traveled about 50 miles to take the order, can't wait for next day delivery ! Xxx
This phone was super cool
Yeah it is!
Hi how can i have that blackberry
I need a blackberry phone like that
BB Passport is a Business EDA: Enterprise Data Acceptors phone.
Design master class by BB.
Sadly, my old Blackberry Passport is now just a paperweight on my desk.
😔
A fan from the other side of the world
Awesome. Thanks for watching.
What's up with the neck glitch man !!!
It’s a neurological disorder. Thanks
Is miss that OS. BB10 was phenomenal
I miss it too. It really was great
I really want to buy one SE but it's not available. I don't know where people get this amazing phone this year.
They are very hard to find. I got mine from a friend.
the aspect ratio is the best. So satisfying to write emails on this device
if blackberry did this phone with android i would buy it in a heartbeat and i suspect thousands of others would also.
I think do too.
I would
Lol. They used to call this Sponge Bob Square phone. Was it mandatory back then for this phone to download Google Play to play your music from your memory card?
Please revisit the Q10 too. Great review
I am French and I just ordered a passport, I want to test phone different from others with a good OS. thank's for this video
having a phone like this is the same as basically wanting to pay for a good VPN
Alors tu as pu l'utiliser ? Quelle est ton retour d'expérience ?
BlackBerry could have been real competition for android and iOS but they were so full of themselves and refused to move with the times.
That's a pretty accurate assessment
@@The-Heart-Will-Testify Well see where their arrogance has left them.
This thing looks like a small tablet, not a phone. Looks cool too though.
I have 2. One that is ATT battery doesn't last as long as my other. I'm not near them now so i don't know which models. Att one has metal band and other one i changed the keyboard to red..it's a sharp one that i personalized.
Best youtuber channel.
Awesome content
Can you record video what is Max capacity of OTG micro usb Stick to Passport?
I heard that he can handle 128gb even more with no problem!?!
Are they still doing any updates for this phone? Or is it dead operating system? I used to love this phone 😔
Nope. No new updates. It's dead as an OS, effectively.
@@TechOdyssey thanks, it's a shame, this could be one of the best phone if they put more effort in developing more apps, updates etc ehh
Watching this video on my BlackBerry Passport, most reliable phones ever, my other phone is the BlackBerry Keyone, both are excellent..
Nice!
Sweet video! Glad to see this in 2020.
Thanks. And thanks for watching.
I had this one. Sold it. I still have the black and the white variants. Love these devices.
Nice. The white one was my favorite.
TechOdyssey yup. I still have it in the box. I took it to belize on vacay and dropped it. Barely a dent. Wonderful design.
Still using my passport oh,is actually durablr
Awesome. That's great
Has BB come back?
Please I look for Black Berry Motion. Thank you.
No. They haven’t, unfortunately
TechOdyssey
may we one day see BB return?
Thank’s.
Watching this on my BlackBerry Key 2
Excellent review. I will always have a Blackberry as my second phone.
Loved mine. Still have it. Best of them. Red one. Stopped allowing what's app then on and on. So many looks
Good phone, how can i buy this one?
Don’t buy it. You can’t set it up anymore.
also worth noting the square screen was great for using maps on
It was definitely nice for using maps
My Key One screen fell off and the ribbon tore yesterday, I just started using my Passport SE again this morning. I"ve been smiling ever since, I've always loved this phone. Blackberry should really look at all of the videos about there phones and make a decision to start producing them again at a lower price point. I believe that would draw in more new customers. I'm actually going to rebuild my Key One this week because i really like the phone, just not the screen falling off constantly....
Passport is in my opinion number 1 smartphone in whole smartphone history
It was and is a fantastic phone and when it came out it really was at the top of it's game. I loved using mine.
I’m still sporting my SE daily! Daily use!
Nice!
For my business and the Hub features, my keys are sort of worn down - which I think I’ll make a video tomorrow and post it of my SE! Lol
I wish my passport could be updated with the latest interface/software
what makes this phone extra awesome is its on bb10
Finally the video i have been waiting for. Great review ! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐👍
Thank you very much. I appreciate it
@@TechOdyssey Welcome man
We are still waiting for the BlackBerry passport 2
So does the email services still work by just imputing your email addresses for the hub? No makeshift fix or workaround? If so, not bad to have as a detox phone for weekends.
I love mine.
Nice! It really is a fantastic piece of hardware.
One of my best phone i had! Sad to see that BlackBerry give up bb10 os!!! I still wish a come back!!!
Hi,
Thanks for the Video!
I have some queries, I am planning to buy BB Passport Phone - was wondering if it would be a good idea, especially in 2020.
My Usage :
1. Email
2. Text Messages
3. Phone Calls
4. Taking Notes
5. At times reading some newspapers.
Would there be an issue with either of the below Apps? Would they still work?
1. Whatsapp
2. Facebook
3. Instagram
4. UA-cam
5. Google Maps
6. Gmail
7. Bank Apps
8. ecommerce shopping apps
Hey, hold on bro! The first I have to do is to like your video, so, now I can enjoy watching a content about BB Pass. xdd
Greetings from Tuzla, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
BB Classic user 2020.
My Passport is still the best ❤️❤️❤️
Where can I buy this BlackBerry Passport Silver Edition?
You'll have to check on resale markets like ebay
I have a immaculate one
What carriers still support Blackberry? I miss how fast I was on a physical keyboard!
It still works on GSM carriers but in the U.S. that may be dwindling by next year. They're saying in TMO that phones that support VolTE will no longer work on their network starting early 2020
@@TechOdyssey OK, so AT&T and TMo. Thank you!
