I went to Exmouth in 1988 and was on the first bus to ever go there according to the driver who said that only Bus Australia went there and this was the very first trip. The only passengers on the bus were myself and girlfriend. When we got to the town, it was full of Americans and American vehicles. Thankyou. Your videos are a ray of sunshine, speaking of sunsets. Im sorry this country has become so expensive, but you two demonstrate how to do it anyway. Love it.
You mentioned that it’s dangerous to drive at night in Australia . . without elaborating. I once drove across the Nullarbor and passed an amazing site. Black skid marks extending for 100 metres then curling off to the left. At the end of the skid marks was a pile of six large dead kangaroos. Clearly a large truck ploughed through a mob of kangaroos dashing across the highway ( at speed) and collected a number of them on the bull bars up front and he locked up his brakes, came to a screeching stop, then backed away, and continued his nighttime journey. Had that been a car or even a 4x4 it would have been a major collision. Best to travel in daylight hours when the Roos are resting. Camels are also a danger.
Just a reminder......it's winter in Oz at the moment! (You mentioned 'summer weather" in the video!)😊 Oh and by the way, you probably already know this, but the rear seats in the BT50 easily lift up and created a decent storage space in the back of the cabin (just in case that is of use). Welcome back to Oz, enjoying your videos😊
Another video! We are being spoilt! Love the drone shots. I think that swimming with whale sharks is a once-in-a-lifetime experience for most people, so they will pay a lot for it.
You’re getting closer to Broome! Make a call to Malcolm Douglas Crocodile Park and speak to Caz because she will meet you and look after you! I have confirmed with her that you’re past Exmouth, so she’s ready!

G'day Cheveyo and Tia, if you get the chance check out the Bungle Bungle Ranges in the Kimberley's in Western Australia. Great video and scenery. Please take care while driving and I'm looking forward to your next video. Pete - Adelaide
Exmouth is jammed back in winter due to the Grey Nomads ( older people/ retirees who own caravans and 4WDs) , they go there to escape Perth for winter 😂
So far you guys are tracking the same path as what the family & I did 2 years ago. From Perth to Northampton to Kalbarri to Coral Bay to Exmouth to Karijini to Marble Bar (via Port Headland due to flooded roads / River crossings due to Cyclone / heavy rain) & then back down to Perth via the inland route /towns. Great Road trip with a Camper Trailer staying at various Cattle Stations along the way.
It's pronounced Kal-Barry, Cnaarvn, Ex - mouth (as in cake hole). Pity you missed a swim at Coral Bay- beautiful full-on reef a short swim away. There used to be snappers coming into 300mm deep water (dozens of them) for a feeding frenzy - not sure if they still do that.
I watched that sunset about 3 years back when WA was locked in, and we all did staycations! It is spectacular. There are green turtles on a deserted beach accessed by a small gate on the coastal road about halfway between the American Naval Communication Station Harold E. Holt and Turquoise Bay. Yes there are Dingoes which surprised me to!
When we did the 13,000km drive from Darwin to Sydney via WA with our four young kids, Coral Bay and Exmouth were two of our favourite destinations. Coral Bay has kept its natural charm because development was deliberately halted, so camping and caravans are the only options. From there you can sail out to see manta rays, dugongs, whale sharks and other marine creates. At Exmouth we stayed in the former American military intelligence base when bunk rooms were offered (1998). At night we would return to the beach to watch out for turtles, which would come onshore to lay their eggs.
The towers you saw are from the Harold E Holt joint US-Aus naval communications base. The tallest tower -Tower Zero is the tallest structure in Australia (not tallest building).
Port Hedland is/was magic for sunsets. I lived there a couple of times in the '80's and saw some absolutely breathtaking sunsets. I think a lot of it was due to the iron ore dust emanating from the port, a side effect of loading the bulk carriers.
FYI - the towers are a joint Aussie/US naval base for low frequency communications with US nuclear submarines. The central tower stands about 1300 feet.
Thanks again, so sad you didn't get more time in Coral Bay guys but glad you had a snorkelling experience anyway in Exmouth. So many incredible sunsets await you as you head up the Western Coast. Fingers crossed Broome's Cable Beach does the right thing for you. It's a well known thing here that after Mother's Day in May Aussie caravanners etc migrate North so accommodation, campsites (free or otherwise) are hard to get and the costs dramatically increase. Australia IS expensive to travel around hence many of us go to Asia..lol Looking forward to your future offerings and adventures in the Pilbara plus. Happy Trails :)
You're hitting all the spots my husband and I visited, down to the literal same fruit stand in Carnarvon. And I gotta say, you're making me want to go back and do it all over again. The snorkeling, the sunset, the rock wallabies, the red rocks...?!?! Ugh, so good. If you ever come back and you have more time to book ahead, you HAVE to check out some of the epic station stays (camping/glamping/cabins at former sheep shearing stations). My favorites were Bullara Station near Exmouth (wood-fired showers under gum trees) and Wooramel Station close to that Billabong truck stop (hot springs under the stars).
Lovin the vids, you guys have really adopted the Aussie vibe. We found that, the more rural you travel, the further in advance you need to book places, not surprised that Exmouth Holiday Park was booked out for a year. So many people are doing the lap now and small places can't handle the volume. Can't wait for the Tassie vids, we just got back from travelling around Tassie for 2weeks in a camper. Looking forward to seeing seeing where you go and your experience, Tassie blew us away and we can't wait to go back.
Towing an off-road teardrop camper behind Luna might have saved a lot of accommodation cost if you could have hired at Perth and dropped off at journeys end . She's already fitted with a towbar . I want to see Cheveyo take a picture of Tia with an actual Asian dad 🤣
I love Exmouth ,the water is so blue and clean. Twelve years ago it was popular but we could book a couple of weeks out and we were lucky enough to get the last spot at the National Park overlooking the beach for 5 days. We did the reef swim twice on clear days and saw sea turtles. You can wade out to the water in Exmouth just 50 metres and it's shallow and full of colourful fish. The sunsets in that part of the coast are unbelievable.
If it's not on your list you have to go to the Purnululu National Park, you need a 4wd to get there which you now have. You won't be disappointed, it is possibly the most spectacular place in Australia.
Yes I agree, what's going on in our Country, apparently food vendors were selling a sausage sizzle at the Sydney vivid show a few days ago for $8.60 now that's a rip-off,a slice of bread with a thin sausage on top.
But also don’t forget these towns are remote and everything has to travel a long long way to get there. If you’ve seen the price of fuel in these areas you’ll understand.
Yeah, nah - ridiculous price for a snag roll! Sounds like the locals are cashing in on the tourist whale-watching high season - tends to happen in tourist towns - they Jack up the prices in peak times for the tourists.
Never been to Exmouth during whale season - sounds expensive and outside our travel budget but luckily nature has provided so much beauty there for free! As you pointed out and demonstrated, the contrast of colours are spectacular! Love watching you appreciate it too - WA is such a special place! Thank you for the dose of joy and happiness you bring and keep it coming! Safe travels!
The towers you saw are a VLF station that communicates with submarines and other secret stuff. There is a large American base there named after Harold Holt. It's a beautiful part of the world, spent a lot of time in Exmouth and up the coast to Broome and Derby in the 70's and 80's.

The noisy birds at the start are Sulphur Crested Cockatoos. Very loud, and love to strip a eucalyptus tree of its leaves if they settle in it.
Probably not around Carnarvon - very few in WA. Likely to be Corellas.
One of the most beautiful places in Australia. Did 2 years of Whaleshark spotting and nothing beats it
Tia’s face everytime Cheveyo switches to his Aussie lingo has me lol 😂😂😂 - as a Kiwi married to an American living in Aust, I feel you gurl! 😅😂
Just a reminder......it's winter in Oz at the moment! (You mentioned 'summer weather" in the video!)😊
Oh and by the way, you probably already know this, but the rear seats in the BT50 easily lift up and created a decent storage space in the back of the cabin (just in case that is of use).
Welcome back to Oz, enjoying your videos😊
Another video! We are being spoilt! Love the drone shots. I think that swimming with whale sharks is a once-in-a-lifetime experience for most people, so they will pay a lot for it.
Great video guys! The videography, soundtrack, story telling and editing are awesome!
Amazing time lapse guys. Im glad WA is putting on such a good show for you. Enjoy every moment ❤
You’re getting closer to Broome! Make a call to Malcolm Douglas Crocodile Park and speak to Caz because she will meet you and look after you! I have confirmed with her that you’re past Exmouth, so she’s ready!
Getting towards the middle of winter here and I'm on the other side of Oz watching you guys swimming in the ocean with Lovely weather and beaches. Damn 😜
G'day Cheveyo and Tia, if you get the chance check out the Bungle Bungle Ranges in the Kimberley's in Western Australia. Great video and scenery. Please take care while driving and I'm looking forward to your next video. Pete - Adelaide
Just gorgeous!!! Everything!!! The beaches, rocks, that cute rock wallaby 😍 and that sunset!! Wow!!! We have been spoiled!!! 🥰
Exmouth is jammed back in winter due to the Grey Nomads ( older people/ retirees who own caravans and 4WDs) , they go there to escape Perth for winter 😂
A lot more not so young people travelling in vans and Motorhomes. Many young families.
Oh and I believe those towers you saw are a U.S communication facility for talking to your submarines in the Indian Ocean.
australias worst kept secret :) and you are correct.
It's a joint US/Australian naval comms station and it's not secret
Google North West Cape Harold Holt
@@overworlder Its a joint US /Aus base but operated by the Aus Dept of Defence these days apparently
@@overworlder… it isn’t *a* secret what the towers are… but much of the area is restricted access… ;)
"Summer weather" ... in the first or second week of winter hahahah xD
Don't go gettin' swelled heads or nothin'...
but you work is Top Flight and a true pleasure to watch!
WA with its long coastline, scenic locations & glorious sunsets is a hard act to beat or follow.
Aussie here - welcome home!
The time lapse.....You nailed it!!!
You guys should get some wide brim hats. Nice vid, enjoy.
Best channel on UA-cam
Really interesting to me. I used to work in the area. There is an old WWII U.S. military Base in Exmouth.
We’re told the antennas are related to that base
Accommodation gets crazy expensive in our school holidays. July ones are close, so plan ahead. More great content. Love your work 👌
Insanely Good Snorkelling in Coral Bay, and they have local Golden Trevally near the spit that actually swim beside you.....
Highly recommend checking out or even staying at Bullara station stay if your still in the area, I think you will love it, very cool setup.
wow can't wait to see what else you see in Australia. safe travels through the outback
Great job guys of showing the diversity & beauty of Our Magnificent Country 💙💙
Did you guys not see the Moray Eel at 8:59 ?? Swam right over the top of it.
Yea! I was trying to get closer but didn’t want disturb it too much
Exmouth is also home to a Naval communications base, hense the huge aerials you were wondering about. Welcome back, we missed you!
11:22 Asian Dad on vacation cracked me up! 🤣
Keep a look out for Thorny Devils on the road. Do a search to see what they look like. You can pick them up. So cute. Karijini Gorges guys?
Nice sunset! Thumbs up on the voice over! Keep on keeping on! 🤙
Welcome back guys.
Looking forward to accompanying you on your trip.
Hahaha ‘Bob’s your uncle’ - can’t wait for more of these from Cheveyo!
You guys are killing it ❤
If it's not on your list you have to go to the Purnululu National Park, you need a 4wd to get there which you now have. You won't be disappointed, it is possibly the most spectacular place in Australia.
$8 for a sausage roll is outrageous. That is price gouging.
@@Natsymons Still no excuse. It's collective price gouging, and it's getting worse.
Tourist town everything is more expensive.
I just love your drone shots. With the lovely music in the background , it's just so relaxing to watch 👍🏼
Ningaloo reef is the best! Glad you got to experience it❤
You are showcasing Australia excellently.🦘🤠👏
Never been to Exmouth during whale season - sounds expensive and outside our travel budget but luckily nature has provided so much beauty there for free! As you pointed out and demonstrated, the contrast of colours are spectacular! Love watching you appreciate it too - WA is such a special place!
Thank you for the dose of joy and happiness you bring and keep it coming!
Safe travels!
Thank you that was lovely, I haven't been over there as yet. Safe travels ❤❤
In Broome, go to Haven for breakfast. Chilli scrambled eggs with kimchi! *chef kiss*
The towers you saw are a VLF station that communicates with submarines and other secret stuff. There is a large American base there named after Harold Holt.
It's a beautiful part of the world, spent a lot of time in Exmouth and up the coast to Broome and Derby in the 70's and 80's.
That landscape is the oldest on the planet. The ground is rusty. The sun over there in the west is so bright, so clear, it burns too.
