…and my husband is a retired engineering manager and worked extensively in the Pilbara. He said to reassure you that the fuel in the Pilbara is NOT adulterated or diluted in any way. A fun fact is The Pilbara consumes over 1/2 of the diesel fuel consumed in Australia. The big mining companies, who are the biggest purchasers, test every shipment to ensure it meets all Australian standards. There are some environmental reasons why you are burning more fuel in the Pilbara: 1. You’re likely driving faster. The speed limit is 110 km/hr but you are probably pushing that to fit in with the road trains. Our 4WD burns 20% more fuel when we drive 110 vs 100 km/hr. 2. Winds. Even a side wind, if it’s strong enough, causes vehicles to put more load on their downwind side, which increases fuel consumption. It seems the Pilbara winds usually manage to be headwinds. 3. The relentless Pilbara sunlight (and this is a weird one). The heat and sunlight cause the road tar (referred to as bitumen here in Oz) to evaporate out of the road, leaving the gravel behind. You’ve probably noticed the road noise is louder in the Pilbara, and evaporated bitumen is the cause. Our roads there get resurfaced on an evaporation schedule, not when the total surface starts falling apart. Driving on a surface that’s mostly gravel with little bitumen not only increases fuel consumption, but it also accelerates tyre wear. If you increase tyre pressure to the maximum, rolling resistance and fuel consumption decrease, (but you need to deflate the tyres when on pure gravel roads or sand).
"Our 4WD burns 20% more fuel when we drive 110 vs 100 km/hr." This seems to be in line with the need to quadruple power in order to double your speed. So a 10% increase in speed, would require a 20% increase in energy and thus fuel usage.
Yes and what might they dilute the diesel with? Water? That aint gunna fly. Other hydrocarbon brews probalbly equal or more expensive than diesel anyway. Ive heard of some jet fuels being more dense thans others, hence more energy. But havent heard that with diesel.
I thought gravel reduced wear on the tires and doesn’t increase fuel consumption became its surface is softer and doesn’t add to the surface friction unlike bitumen. I grew up and even worked a few years in plantations in Malaysia and Indonesia where the roads were entirely gravel. We definitely had less wear on our vehicle tires. I assumed that because gravel surfaces don’t grip too well they exert less friction on tires.

Great choice going to Marble Bar. You’re in good company with other Americans visiting Marble Bar. About a year ago, my husband (ex-American from Colorado) was involved in flying a group of NASA space scientists to the area and their tour of Marble Bar. He (husband) grew up in a family involved in the Apollo moon landing, so he grew up learning NASA-speak. It turns out the Interplanetary Exploration Team from NASA is specifically interested in the area around Marble Bar, as they consider it to be very similar to the terrain on Mars. NASA is setting up practice exploration activities to learn how best to learn how to look for live on Mars, and where else to practice than around Marble Bar? The NASA effort also uses the school kids as support team (eg, recover lost drones, help the NASA guys successfully walk around this very remote area) which makes the kids totally comfortable with new technology. It’s a great example of how indigenous kids in a remote town can overcome the tyranny of distance and learn things like interplanetary physics and sophisticated data transfer techniques from PhD experts in those fields, whilst living their home environnment. My husband is pretty sure the kids that purloined your cameras are happily involved in the NASA program, so he suspects they know a lot more about cameras, data transfer, and high tech in general than you realise. Another fun fact that iam pretty sure Cheveyo & Tia did not realise when they were at the Cape in Exmouth and spotted the cluster of tall radio towers - Naval Communication Station "Harold E. The station is operated and maintained by the Australian Department of Defence on behalf of Australia & US which provides very low frequency (VLF) radio transmission to the US Navy, Royal Australian Navy and allied ships and submarines in the western Pacific Ocean and eastern Indian Ocean. The frequency is 19.8 kHz. With a transmission power of 1 megawatt, it is claimed to be the most powerful transmission station in the Southern Hemisphere The town of Exmouth was built at the same time as the communications station to provide support to the base and to house dependent families of US Navy personnel at the time The station was commissioned as U.S. Naval Communication Station North West Cape on 16 Sept1967 at a ceremony with the US Ambassador to Australia Edward A. Clark and the Prime Minister of Australia Harold Holt, at which peppercorn rent for the base On 20 Sept 1968, the station was officially renamed to US Naval Communication Station Harold E. Holt in memory of the late Prime Minister of Australia, who disappeared whilst swimming and was declared dead, presumed drowned, three months after the station was commissioned.

Cheveyo pulled the Aussie accent n immediately got a kiss from one of the world's most beautiful woman , that's our Aussie superpower 😅.. n she's a bonza sheela!
Australian here from Brisbane. Cheveyo can take solace in the fact that I picked up a hybrid US accent approximately 50% mid west and 50% New York. It was still good enough to convince a Canadian who was sure I was from the mid west. He seemed surprised when I said I was from Australia! The DVD'S I played to my students in class in South Korea had a mid west accent though. Probably where I picked up the accent playing dvds 465 hours a year for several years before moving to China then Turkey.
@@ChristopherJewels I've never been to America (except for two hours in an airport) and I've picked up a weird hybrid American -Aussie accent. what lovely people you are ..... it's such a shame that so many Aussie's would never ever want to visit somewhere like Marble Bar, let alone interact so beautifully and genuinely with the local indigenous kids as you did. We need to see a Tim Tam slam redo with a hot drink! Small bites on the corners. Sunset footage is spectacular, that beach, sensational. Thanks for another great video ❤
I love the “ tourist” view of our country, there are so many things we take for granted or just the norm. Seeing a different perspective through a visitors eyes reminds us of the diversity and amazing places in Australia .
The interaction with the local marble bar kids was so pure and joyful.🥰 Loved the sunset drone footage too. You two always make the best of the situation wherever you end up, never boring to watch. As someone else suggested, rey the tim tam slam with a hot coffee or tea. Makes it melt through faster.

Chev! Your Aussie accent is getting better. Keep at it! I'm also so glad that you're getting to see this beautiful country that many of us take for granted. Yeah bloody legends!
The place you stayed is called a donga. (Pronounce the “dong” like “song”). You’ll see them everywhere up north. The mines use them especially for worker accommodation. I work in hospitals all over the state, and up north this is what I live in. They can be very comfortable and have all the mod cons. It depends how they fit them out. Also my husband works FIFO at the port there for a tug company. That’s one of his tugs in your video!
My late Dad was an engineer and went to Port Hedland and Tom Price in the 70s. His shirts came back covered in red dust! Marble Bar is not to be confused with 'the' Marble Bar, a historic bar in Sydney decorated with marble walls and pilasters. Fun fact - Cate Blanchett's first screen role was in a Tim-Tam ad.
I was going to ask if that was the ad with the packet that never runs out, but I just checked for myself and sure enough it is. 😄 What a classic ad, I had no idea that was Cate Blanchett, nice catch! For anyone who wants to watch it - ua-cam.com/video/I5bY2UVY7QI/v-deo.html
By the way that selection of sunset images was so beautiful and I loved the music selection to accompany them. I screen shot a few of them to add to my photo album. Hope one features on your postcard series.
Have you checked out "the painted desert"? Only available after it rains as everything hibernates in the ground (including fish & frogs ect..). Also if theres been a lot of rain in Northern South Australia, a huge lake forms, I think its name is Lake Alexandria? most the year its a massive flat salt pan.
There is also what I think of as an Aussie favourite, peanut butter and honey sandwiches. But, to us smooth or crunchy? Enjoyed this post, first one for me and it think I’ll be back. 👍🏻
To be fair this is rare, I've never known anyone in my entire life which is not much short of yours to ever do this.. Not that theres anything wrong with this, you do you :)

So enjoying this series [I am also very biased as an aussie]. Honestly, Tourism Australia should hook up with you - your photography is stunning but it's your drone work that is next level. You are showcasing my country so so beautifully and the music you are choosing is gorgeous too. Hope the weather keeps holding for you and the remainder of your Oz adventure is as stellar as it has been so far. Oh, and the 'slam' [which was hilarious btw] - you do it with a hot drink - coffee is best - and you do it fast - real fast, otherwise, let's just say your mug of coffee becomes a TimTam slushie :)
The red dust is everywhere in outback Australia. It’s mostly hematite/ goethite dust (iron oxides). I’m not surprised you see so much more of it at Port Headland. Those are the main minerals mined in the Pilbara and shipped out from there
Did anyone else catch Cheveyo's slip of the tongue...He's fascinated by big machines , ....... Not so much big prawns , sheep , pineapples etc... There you go Tia you get as many tickets as you want .. sorta.. Love you guys , I know you've been back for some time but welcome again, great to see you here . Cheers from Melbourne..

Another great episode! The start of this Aussie run has been amazing, such high quality and fun episodes. The interaction with the First Nation's kids was super cute and they really did good advice; that spot looked stunning! The shots towards the end with the beach sunset and full more were incredible. Like you two said in the Route 66 vlogs you can really ignore you're own country in exploring and watching the Aus series has motivated me to see more of this place!
Great to see you guys back in Oz! I just got back from a 10 day adventure in Darwin-Litchfield-Katherine-Kakadu-Darwin, (20 year old bucket list ticked off) was staring at that very same moon you watched...wasn’t it incredible with those sunsets!! I could watch you two discover this country’s treasures all day! You know you are both adopted Aussies now right? Welcome home!
Those units are typical accommodation for FIFO mine workers. We call them Dongas. This is the reality of many workers in the industry. The colours in the Pilbara are just intense, particularly after late afternoon summer storms, the golden yellow setting sun turning the red rocks a brilliant orange-red, the white bark of the ghost gums, against a lead grey sky is spectacular. Oh, and the Tim Tam biscuit thing is typically done with coffee. Never heard of anyone in Oz doing it with milk - that must be a milk & cookies americanism. Stunning drone shots on that sunset beach, your best so far!.
most rivers in the out back of Australia look dry, but dig down and you will find the river flowing in its bed underground. Only flows above ground in flood.
Fun Fact: Marble Bar is known as 'the hottest town in Australia' a fact which is still recorded by the Guinness Book of Records. For 161 consecutive days to 20 April 1924 the temperature in the town never dropped below 100°F (37.8°C). This record still stands after over eighty years. During all the time that records have been kept, the temperature at the town has never dropped below 0°C. Those Wallabies in the Caravan Park at 80 mile Beach are Agile Wallabies. All through that area are also Red Kangaroos (Macropus Rufus), allegedly the largest Kangaroo in Australia.

Love that you are also showing footage of the vast beautiful nothingness of Aus. Every time Cheveyo brings out the Aussie accent it give me the biggest smile 😊😊😊. Honorary Aussies now for sure 😍. Literally can not wait for you to see the Kimberley ❤️Also there is an amazing UA-cam video called 288 days in Fitzroy, all about the incredible story of building the new Fitzroy River Bridge, Worth a watch as I know this meant a lot to your last Aus trip and literally why you are back. xx
I don’t know how you buggers ended up in my feed, but I’m glad you did. You’re fun and ridiculous and entertaining. You’ve got the Aussie Salute down pat. You’re pretty much locals now.
Those last sunset shots were beautiful! The drone is really showing Aus in its best light ❤ Also, the tim tam slam needs to be done with warm drinks to be most effective. The reason you have to slam it as soon as you suck the drink through is because the whole centre just collapses. It's amazing when done right.
I dont know about diluted fuel but headwinds will increase your fuel consumption by those sort of amounts. Just got back from a trip through central Australia towing a 3.1T van fuel consumption was normally around 16ltrs/100kms but some days driving into a headwind it went over 20. The same with a tailwind it dropped to 14.
Best episode, EVER! That sunset was just breath taking 🥰. The pinks, blues and purples and the full moon over the beach, were all so perfect. You captured it perfectly, well done. Also a big well done to Cheveyo, mate you accent is spot on.

Rookie error with the milk Cheveyo 😂. The drone footage is mint guys. You are doing a fantastic job of capturing the absolute vastness of our country. It really stirs up emotions just seeing how beautiful it is out there.
Beautiful and charming kids at Marble Bar and that coastal sunset about the 17m mark. Wow... I've rarely seen such an 'elemental scene'; so vast and pure - water, sand and sunset - exceptional camera angle. Thanks for showing our wonderful country and its people; your love in everyday moments warms my heart. Bless you & cheers from Sydney, AU.

Naval Communication Station "Harold E. Holt" is a joint Australian and United States naval communication station located on the north-west coast of Australia, 6 kms (4 miles) north of the town of Exmouth.
With a transmission power of 1 megawatt, it is claimed to be the most powerful transmission station in the Southern Hemisphere
The town of Exmouth was built at the same time as the communications station to provide support to the base and to house dependent families of US Navy personnel at the time
The station was commissioned as U.S. Naval Communication Station North West Cape on 16 Sept1967 at a ceremony with the US Ambassador to Australia Edward A. Clark and the Prime Minister of Australia Harold Holt, at which peppercorn rent for the base
On 20 Sept 1968, the station was officially renamed to US Naval Communication Station Harold E. Holt in memory of the late Prime Minister of Australia, who disappeared whilst swimming and was declared dead, presumed drowned, three months after the station was commissioned.
Thanks, both of you, for the very interesting information.
What moon landing?
NASA is Hebrew for deceive.
The moon is made of cold plasma gas, you can't land on it.
Notice how Nixon only needed an old landline phone to talk to them.
The large bulk of the Mars testing was carried out in the Atacama Desert in Chile. Conditions there are the closest to that on Mars.
nothing from you two is boring always happy to watch
Absolutely Kevin. Tia and Cheveyo and such a GR8 couple, 💕💕 I love all their vids. Tia's got such an infectious smile and always positive and laughing. 😂 Cheveyo is always positive too 👌✔️ and looks after Tia whenever she faces any fear. 👍 Love em both, I look fwd to the next 1. Pete. NSW.
It's so weird hearing Tim Tams called cookies.
They'll get there.
I heard Jerry Seinfeld refer to them as "candy" the other day nearly ripped the arm off the chair.
Yep there’s no Aussie cookies or candy.
to me cookies are always round.
@@tbea272Um ackhshually... Byron bay cookies are quite nice.
I loved seeing the children in Marble Bar! They were so beautiful. Hi! to them
Closest aussies got to American PB&J, spreads, candy and biscuits was in Perth during the America's Cup yacht race back in 1983. Supermarkets were flooded with american products catering for all the tourists. A few weeks after the Cup all the products were sold off for under half price😮
I'm Australian and Cheveyo's accent is getting better and better 💜 (by which I mean worse and worse, but in the most delightful way 😂)
Cheveyo pulled the Aussie accent n immediately got a kiss from one of the world's most beautiful woman , that's our Aussie superpower 😅.. n she's a bonza sheela!
He now sounds like a Kiwi from Johannesburg?
Australian here from Brisbane. Cheveyo can take solace in the fact that I picked up a hybrid US accent approximately 50% mid west and 50% New York. It was still good enough to convince a Canadian who was sure I was from the mid west. He seemed surprised when I said I was from Australia! The DVD'S I played to my students in class in South Korea had a mid west accent though. Probably where I picked up the accent playing dvds 465 hours a year for several years before moving to China then Turkey.
Crikey that's a bit ruff cobber 😂👋🇳🇿

I've never been to America (except for two hours in an airport) and I've picked up a weird hybrid American -Aussie accent. Comes from teaching English to Korean and Japanese kids who fail to understand you when you simply ask, "Do you like basketball?" But fully comprehend when you say, "Do you like Baaaa-sketball?" Like a bleating sheep. 😂
I really like the way you record and edit your channel. Interesting locations and showing the real Australia.
GUYS!!!!! The sunset at the end was intensely beautiful!!!!!! THANK YOU!!!!
what lovely people you are ..... it's such a shame that so many Aussie's would never ever want to visit somewhere like Marble Bar, let alone interact so beautifully and genuinely with the local indigenous kids as you did. I bet those kids are still talking about you now - it warms my heart that you did what many can't and that is to just treat them just as they should be treated - as curious, fun loving kids...
Gotta be careful around kids now. Not worth the accusations. it is what it is.
Showcasing Australia in the best way,our country is amazing.🦘🤠❤️
Stunning photography , love the sunset, your Aussie accent is sounding good, love the film of the red dirt road and the car ,all alone on the long distance road, , Aboriginal children , you made their whole year, so enjoyed the whole video, well done 👍
Peanut butter and jam on toast is the bomb! I'm Australian.
Although, personally I prefer peanut butter and honey on an English muffin or crumpet.
But I can see the bit of sweetness is wonderful with peanut butter
Love the “deadset” so authentic
That 'dead set' was brilliant.
dead f'n set
We need to see a Tim Tam slam redo with a hot drink! Small bites on the corners. Sunset footage is spectacular, that beach, sensational. Thanks for another great video ❤
Loved watching you interact with the kids and the sunset sets were awesome!
I love the “ tourist” view of our country, there are so many things we take for granted or just the norm. Seeing a different perspective through a visitors eyes reminds us of the diversity and amazing places in Australia .
Cookie??? that there is a Biscuit ...lol love you guys attempting to blend in . Keep on keeping on.
its a bicky.
The interaction with the local marble bar kids was so pure and joyful.🥰
Loved the sunset drone footage too.
You two always make the best of the situation wherever you end up, never boring to watch.
As someone else suggested, rey the tim tam slam with a hot coffee or tea. Makes it melt through faster.
Another fantastic video, everything you guys post is enjoyable. Tia's reaction to the Tim Tam slam was the best I've ever seen from a reactor on UA-cam. Cheveyo's accent and use of our slang is coming along beautifully. Love you guys ,keep up the good work ❤❤❤
Cheveyo's Aussie accent is getting better every video 😅
“Not looking to get eaten by a croc today” was perfect. You could not tell it wasn’t an Aussie saying that. Fair dinkum.
You are always entertaining to watch and Tia just makes everything better 👍👍👍Thanks again for taking us with you.
Loved the kids in Marble Bar and loved the drone footage of the beach - some of the most beautiful footage we have ever seen, congratulations!
That sunset shot was incredible
18:53 don’t ever get close to a kangaroo. They can kill you with one kick.
Loving kindness towards each other and everyone you meet is why you’re such a joy to watch. 💕
By the way that selection of sunset images was so beautiful and I loved the music selection to accompany them. I screen shot a few of them to add to my photo album. Hope one features on your postcard series.
Sci-Fi writer:
‘I wonder what Mars will look like if we try to terraform it.’
The Pilbara:
‘Oi - Over here mate!’
Your videos are just gorgeous, guys! Tourism Australia needs to employ you as adopted ambassadors.
I love how kind you are to each other ❤ & how much fun you have together. You are getting the Aussie accent down pat Cheveyo!
The beach drone shots at sunset were special.
You two are so freaking adorable, I love it. And damn, you got some gorgeous footage up there, makes me want to visit that side of the country!
Someone passed and someone failed the Tim Tam slam. 😂 Tia's look on her face when it hits her just after the slam. "Arrr precious" 😜😂
i thought and started a countdown to a spray of milk and timmies when i saw her eyes pop, but it never eventuated lol
16:52 - gotta love the accent, then the drone fottage...ayyyaahhhhh!! 🦘🦘👍👌😊
57, Australian and been having peanut butter and jam sanders my entire life. Whoever said it's not a thing in Australia is telling porkies.
There is also what I think of as an Aussie favourite, peanut butter and honey sandwiches. But, to us smooth or crunchy?
Enjoyed this post, first one for me and it think I’ll be back. 👍🏻
I personally like peanut paste and banana, especially with toasted bread.
@@biggschannel7255Crunchy hands down
I've tried it a couple of times. Completely inedible. I guess it has to be something you grow up eating...
To be fair this is rare, I've never known anyone in my entire life which is not much short of yours to ever do this.. Not that theres anything wrong with this, you do you :)
So good to see the parts of Australia we’ve not yet got to. And dark Tim Tams is a good choice. Port or Baileys works for the slam too!
We had PB&J as kids, but now I prefer peanut butter and honey.
Or the genuine Qld thing was peanut paste and golden syrup.
As an Australian PB&J is not common but I don’t think we should turn our nose up at it. But I agree with dnoordink, peanut and honey is the bomb
Make sure the honey is on top so the peanut butter won't stick to the roof of your mouth
There aren't many UA-cam channels where I watch the whole video from start to finish, this is one of them. The video content, music, and setting are unbelievably beautiful. Whoever does the editing etc. good job!!!❤❤❤ Oh, OK ten seconds later I know who does all the editing lol
Thank you for sharing-especially the sunset!😁
Love you fellas
And your fly swatting skills are bloody awesome
10:30 We used to have peanut butter and honey sandwiches when we were younger but tbf seedless jam (sweet) and peanut butter (savoury) probably go together just as well.
Best Aussie accent ever!
Live in Australia and always wondered what Marble Bar was like …..Thanks.
You guys are killing it with the drone shots!
It’s great how we get to see plenty of both of you. When my family travel and I take all the videos, it’s like I was never there.
Yet you think that was by accident 😉😜
10:47 as an Australia I have to agree with you. I saw this in a video once and decided to try it out. Best decision of my life
Fun Fact: Marble Bar is known as 'the hottest town in Australia' a fact which is still recorded by the Guinness Book of Records.
Wait till you get further north into the Kimberley, the red dirt (called Pindan) and red cliffs get redder and the contrast with the turquoise ocean is so breathtaking.
The drone is really showing Aus in its best light ❤
Also, the tim tam slam needs to be done with warm drinks to be most effective. The reason you have to slam it as soon as you suck the drink through is because the whole centre just collapses. It's amazing when done right.
You yanks are bloody hilarious. Watching you do the “Tim tam slam” made my day…well done…❤❤
You’ve mastered the Australian wave 😂😂
Didn’t have time to watch this properly but it definitely still draw me in, even while distracted, that says a lot, so well done guys 🥳👏👏💕💕
Tim Tam Slam... not Tim Tam Tip-Milk-In-Your-Lap 😂😂😂😂😂.
Those drone shots though, and the way you captured the contrasting colours at dusk... I'm speechless. Absolutely incredible.
When you have a small 'town' in Australia, you have as little buildings as possible with as many purposes as possible.
Rookie error with the milk Cheveyo 😂. The drone footage is mint guys. You are doing a fantastic job of capturing the absolute vastness of our country. It really stirs up emotions just seeing how beautiful it is out there.
Great video guys. The Best Australian accent from a foreigner I've ever heard. Well done
Don't forget to stop at Barnhill for a night before you get to Broome. The evening song of the birds there are magnificent.
We have gorgeous sunset pics from our stay at Barn Hill. These days I would think you would need to book a long way out to stay here.
😮 You guy are the great example of what peanut butter and jelly stand for. Can't have one without the other. Love the vids, you make my day!❤
5:40 Cheveyo's stubble matches the colour of the rock! 🙃love the Tim Tam slam fest hilarious!
Australian here - nothing weird about PB & Jam to me
Esp pb and apricot jam…
I’d loooove to see a drone footage compilation video at the end of this trip - combining footage from both Aus trips. And one from Vietnam too! It’s just so relaxing watching the gorgeous views from the drone 😍 Just drone & music… the dream!
YESSSSSS I'D LOVE THIS TOO!!!
ha ha, love the disclaimer - Tia picked the detour south - Do the slam with coffee - even better
arr port hedland now ya close to where both my boys work on the mines and i hate them coming home with the red dust in “everything” so hard to get out of clothes and bags and everything they own lol
need 2 washing machines one for red dust washing and one for home clothes
Nightmare!!!
Great Vlog once again 🤜🤛
Grew up on peanut butter and jam sandwiches and still have them decades later... Not sure why anyone would say its not a thing here, we don't all live on Vegemite lol
This is the first video of yours I have seen but I am hooked and have subscribed. Those Aboriginal kids were so sweet. The drone shots are awesome. Looking forward to more of this.
