I have a question - If "All keys lost" is performed (for example if the max amount of added keys is reached) will I be able to reuse the customer's original key to program it back to his car?
Asking because on a previous Mazda I programmed an Xhorse key for the incorrect Mazda model (only lock and unlock worked, but not trunk and "panic") and when I re-generated it to the correct one, the Autel tablet said "Key adding failed - Already in use in another car", even though it was re-generated.

So original key will always be able to be added to the system in this car.
The Xhorse keys may sometimes do that you should’ve maybe generated a new key, but I always prefer the Autel keys on the Mazda because the functions on the Xhorse needs to be configured and sometimes you don’t really know what the working numbers are.

I believe that if you have options to do”add key” it’s always better then erasing all keys. In Mazda I will always do it because the car needs two key to start if you do AKL.

Sure. You need to generate the right FCC before you start.
Just bought a 2015 cx5 with one smart key fob. I ordered a used oem key fob and am about to order a key programmer(too many options). Any helpful tips so i dont screw things up?
Honestly, A used key will not be the best option for you. It may leave a light on the dash. Also make sure you get the right FCC ID it’s located on the back of the key after taking out the emergency blade.

It's the exact same key. Made sure of that. Has a new blank. OEM electronics. Yes. I was thinking of going with otofix im1 which is same as im508. Same autel software. Has diag software with additional cost and I need another scan tool anyways.
I added a key for 2017 Mazda using refurbished smart key but the red flashing key came up on cluster and wouldn’t go away- key works fine but light keeps flashing while driving
It’s a very known issue when using refurbish keys, or not using exactly the correct FCC. There is a way to get it out. You just need to do all key lost and keep the original customer key with an Autel universal key generated to the same key.

@@legacylocksmith7874 problem is most time customers don’t want the universal key but rather the same look they have . Are the aftermarket Mazda that look the same as OEM also get the red light flashing?
If you’re using an aftermarket key, it’s less likely to have the light since the chip is new and not refurbished
